A monitoring activity for the existence of portunid crabs in the narrowest part of Madura Strait has been done from 2001 to 2004. Crabs have been collected in June or July each year in day time during spring tide. Crab collection was carried out in four sampling station (I to IV) using 0,5 cm trawl net for 10 minutes netting in each time. The results show that during four year monitoring six species of portunid crab has been captured. Among the six species three of them, Charybdis affinis, C. anisodon, and Portunus pelagicus were collected each year even with difference level in local distribution. C. affinis and P. pelagicus have been monitored in the same three stations, and C. anisodon has also been monitored in three stations but differs from other three portunid crab species, C. annulata. P. trituberculatus, and Scylla paramamosain were very rare and have been captured in less then three sampling times collection. We conclude that in this area the portunid crab has been dominated by C. affinis which have less economic value, and for C. anisodon even the number higher than other portunid genus the occurrence is not stabil as in C. affinis.

Blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) is a marine commodity has a high economic value , which is causing the crab catch to rise as well. The catch rate that does not consider the size and maturity of sea crab can affect the size structure and population stock of sea crab in waters. This study aims to determine the size distribution, the relationship of width and weight of Blue swimming crab and distribution of gonad maturity in Betahwalang, Demak. There’s a descriptive survey method used in this study with time-series observations. The sample size is about 10% of the total number landed crab from each fisherman. The results of this study showed that from 3030 crabs observed, the distribution of crab carapace width ranged from 35 – 185 mm and the weight range at 10 – 350 gram. The results showed the all crabs has a positive allometric on growth parameters. The value of  b 3,29 and 3,08 (January & February) in male blue swimming crab, 3.10 and 3.15 (January & February) on female sea crabs, and 3.14 on whole sea crabs. So it is known that the growth of carapid width is faster than the weight of crab. While the distribution of female crab gonad maturity level is 21% in level 1; 63% in level 2; and 16% in level 3, with the first size of mature gonad at 141,51 mm.

Scylla paramamosain is one of crustaceans that has economic value in Indonesia. About 40-50% of the total weight of crustaceans goes as waste after being processed to be human food. The Crustacean waste needs to be reduced in order to minimize the negative impact on the environment. Whereas products derived from crustacean shell also has medical value (e.g. Chitosan, Glucosamine HCl). Glucosamine is an amino monosaccharide acting as a substrate for the production of aggrecan and proteoglycans and thus have therapeutic activity in osteoarthritis. The present study has been aimed to prepare glucosamine hydrochloride (Glu-HCl) from S. paramamosain waste by acid hydrolysis in four treatment groups and their quantitation by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The best condition from this experiment is shell deproteination with 3% NaOH solution (w/v 1:6), at 85ºC, for 30 minutes, demineralisation with 1N HCl (w/v 1:10), at 75ºC, for 1.5 hours, depigmentation with NaClO 0.38%, at room temperature, for 1 hour, and hydrolysis with conc. HCl (w/v 1:20), at 85ºC, for 18 minutes, resulted in the yield of 6.15 ± 0.62% and quantitation by HPLC analysis of obtained glucosamine hydrochloride was 98.48 ± 0.74%. Further, this study describes the recycling of S. paramamosain waste to a value-added product which is having potential applications in the field of food and medicine.

The blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) is one of the Indonesian marine biological resources. The blue swimming crab is a main commodity of fisheries in Indonesia, both for local and export. Economic value of blue swimming crab classified as high involve over-exploitation of blue swimming crab and can lead to extinction. This research is aimed to determine level of vulnerability of blue swimming crab in Tunggulsari waters and to discover morphometry characteristic of blue swimming crab that caught at that location. The method used in this research is Productivity and Susceptibility (PSA) method. Interviews were conducted with 6 fishermen in the village of Tunggulsari. Measurement of water quality parameters including temperature, dissolved oxygen, salinity, and pH. Morphometry measurement was carried out in one of the collectors in the village. The results of the interview revealed that fishermen in the village of Tunggulsari used 2 fishing tools namely bubu lipat and bottom set gillnet. Assessment of blue swimming crab productivity attributes is included in the high category, while the assessment of vulnerability attributes is classified as low risk for the use of both tools. The MSC value for bubu lipat is 96,0 and 98,2 for bottom set gillnet. The MSC value is more than 80 indicates that the level of blue swimming crab vulnerability at that location is in the low category. Further, blue swimming crab growth pattern in the village of Tunggulsari are negative allometrics for both male and female blue swimming crabs. This shows the growth in length and width carapace is faster than the addition of blue swimming crab weight.

Kata kunci: Dampak, Permen KP No. 1/2015, Nelayan Lobster dan Rajungan  ABSTRACT The implementation of the PERMEN KP No. 1 Tahun 2015 with the aim to review manage resource potential Crustaceans, due to the phenomenon of the decline in production Crustaceans and captured the increasingly smaller sizes. Fish is one of the aquatic commodities with significant economic value, and Segara Anakan areas is a habitat for valuable fishes for local fisherman. Segara Anakan is a eutrophic waters and serves as nursery and spawning ground and also provide an optimal environment for several species fish larvae to grow, either sedentary or migratory species. Therefore it is suggested that diverse species inhabit Segara Anakan and different part of those areas has different species because different species commonly exhibit different habitat preferences. The objectives of this research were to determine the diversity and spatial distribution of fish species in Segara Anakan Cilacap. This research was a survey with the Cluster Random Sampling was implemented as sampling technique. Species diversity was analyzed descriptively, as well as the spatial distribution. The relationships between environmental parameters and spatial distribution were analyzed using Principal Component Analysis. Environmental factors such as temperature, pH, salinity, and water DO were measured. The result showed that Stolephorus indicus was the most dominant species in Segara Anakan. The spatial distribution of fishes in every sampling station was found fluctuated. The environmental factors and fish were found highly correlated.

Blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) is one of the high economic value commodities which causes increased efforts to catch blue swimming crab in Indonesia. The effort of catching continues to increase the blue swimming crab resources in the nature that has decreased. Cirebon Regency is one of the largest blue swimming crab fishing centers in West Java with a total value of blue swimming crab production in 2017 by 7,347 tons/year. This research was conducted to determine the selecitivity level of the crab gillnet and collapsible crab trap based on the proportion and total of catches obtained in Gebang Mekar Village, Cirebon Regency. Research was conducted in September 2019 – October 2019 in Gebang Mekar Village. For this research we used are primary data; collected directly during the observations includes catch type and weight of the catches and then interviews with several crab gillnet and collapsible crab trap fisherman and secondary data; data from official agencies and some literature. Our research suppose the moonlight phase effect of the blue swimming crab catch. Based on the research, it can be concluded that the crab gillnet with 3.5 inch mesh size and collapsible crab trap that operated in Gebang Mekar Village may be called a selective fishing gears but crab gillnet is more  eficient as compared to collapsible crab.
