The Relationship between Parental Involvement and Students’ English Achievement at 8th Grade Students in SMP Negeri 1 Singaraja

The purpose of this study is to investigate the significant relationship between parental involvement and students’ English achievement of 8th grade students in SMP Negeri 1 Singaraja. The design of this study is simple correlation involving 58 students and their parents as the sample. The material of the questionnaire was adopted from Shute et al. (2011) and was used to collect the data of the home – based parental involvement, while the data of the English achievement was collected from school principal. Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used to investigate the correlation between parental involvement and students’ English achievement. The result shows that parental involvement and students’ English achievement have a positive and significant correlation, with the Pearson Correlation value = 0.440 > 0.05.

The purpose of this work was to analyze the specific relationship between parental involvement, dimensions of student self-concept and achievement. 503 students of Secondary Education (ESO) and the first year of Baccalaureate course participated in the study. Data were collected using two questionnaires (Family Involvement Questionnaire and Self-Concept Scale for Adolescents) and academic achievement scores. Data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of variance and paths analysis. The results obtained suggest a significant relationship between the dimensions of perceived family involvement and the dimensions of self-concept (except for parents' praise behaviors). What's more, the relationship between perceived family involvement and achievement is partially mediated by the academic self-concept.

Aim: The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between leisure management and test anxiety levels of university students and their differentiation status in terms of some demographic variables. Methods: The relational survey model was used in the study, and there were 284 (147 male and 137 female) university students selected from the universe by convenient sampling method. Personal information form prepared by the researchers, “Leisure Management Scale (LMS)” and “Test Anxiety Inventory (TAI)” were used as data collection tools. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics, t-Test and Pearson Correlation analyzes were used by using SPSS 26.0 program. Results: There was no significant difference in the sub-dimensions of the leisure management scale and the total score averages according to the gender variable, while a significant difference was found in the TAI "delusional", "affective" sub-dimensions and total score averages. According to the family income variable of university students, a low-level and negative significant relationship was found in the "leisure attitude" sub-dimension of LMS, and in the total TAI and "delusional sub-dimension". A significant relationship was found between the age variable and the "goal setting and method" sub-dimension of LMS. A low and negative significant relationship was found between leisure and "goal setting and method", "leisure attitude" and total LMS score averages. In addition, while there was no significant relationship between LMS and TAI, it was found that there was a low and negative significant relationship between the "leisure attitude" sub-dimension and the test anxiety inventory and its sub-dimensions. Conclusion: It can be said that as the level of attitude towards leisure activities of university students’ increases, the feeling of exam anxiety may decrease, and the increase in free time will adversely affect the level of leisure management and attitude. ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was finding the relationship between religiosity and adolescent aggressiveness at Madrasah Aliyah Assalaam Temanggung. The instruments are the religiosity scale and aggressiveness scale. Data was collected from 100 adolescence subjects ages 16-18 years, sitting in class X and XI MA Assalaam. Data analysis techniques used Pearson Product Moment Correlation (2-tailed). The result showed that the correlation coefficients obtained for (r) = -0.468 with a significance level of 0.000 (p <0.01). The conclusion, there is a negative significant relationship between religiosity to adolescent aggressiveness. The negative coefficient showed correlation to the both variables was negative. This means that increasing religious level can make decreasing aggression level, and converse, decreasing religious level can make increasing aggression level. Thus, the hypothesis in this study is acceptable. Keywords: religiosity, aggressiveness, adolescence

The purpose of this research to "investigate the relationship between personality and conservatism of investors of insurance companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange." The present study was applied research in terms of purpose, which has employed a descriptive and correlational method. The statistical population of this research included all people who buy and sell shares of insurance companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange. According to Cochran's formula, the sample size was determined as much as 384 people collected by a simple random sampling method. The research instruments were the Conservative Questionnaire based on the Gribel and Leighton (1999) and McCrae and Costa (1985) five-factor personality questionnaire. The questionnaire’s validity was confirmed by 20 experts, and the reliability of all three questionnaires was acceptable for all three questionnaires due to Cronbach's alpha above 0.79. The data analysis was conducted using the Pearson correlation test and regression analysis. The results indicated a significant relationship between the investors’ personality and their conservatism in the Tehran Stock Exchange. There was also a significant relationship between all personality components except for extraversion with the investor’s conservatism in the Tehran Stock Exchange.

Teachers begin to experience symptoms of fatigue due to heavy workload characterized by working ineffectively in the classroom so that the interest of the students declined. This study aims to test whether there is relationship between self-regulation and burnout in teachers. The population was junior high school’s teacher. This study use population research, where all the population used as a sample. Researchers use all certified teachers in the school, participants are 35 teachers. The approach used is quantitative method. Data collected using self-regulation and burnout scales, and analyzed using pearson product moment correlation test. The results obtained from this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between self-regulation with burnout in teachers. Significant relationships are seen from the p-value of 0.017 and r value of -0.401. The r value indicates that the relationship between the two variables have a negative direction, meaning that the higher of self-regulation, the lower of burnout. Individual’s good self-regulation be able to cope stress and emotions, because of burnout arising drag on stress experienced by the individual.Abstrak: Guru mulai mengalami gejala kelelahan akibat beban kerja yang berat yang ditandai dengan kurang bekerja efektif didalam kelas sehingga minat kepada peserta didik menurun. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji apakah ada hubungan antara regulasi diri dengan burnout pada guru. Populasi penelitian ini adalah guru SMP. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian populasi, dimana semua populasi digunakan sebagai sampel penelitian. Peneliti menggunakan semua guru yang sudah sertifikasi di sekolah tersebut yang berjumlah 35 orang guru. Pendekatan yang digunakan ialah kuantitatif. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan skala regulasi diri dan burnout, dan dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasional pearson product moment. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara regulasi diri dengan burnout pada guru. Hubungan yang signifikan tersebut dilihat dari nilai p sebesar 0,017 dan nilai r sebesar -0,401. Nilai r tersebut menunjukkan bahwa hubungan kedua variabel memiliki arah negatif, artinya semakin tinggi regulasi diri maka semakin rendah burnout. Regulasi diri yang baik yang dimiliki individu akan mampu mengatasi stres dan emosi dalam dirinya, karena burnout timbul akibat stres yang berkepanjangan yang dialami individu.

<p><strong>INTRODUCTION:</strong> Academic burnout leads to creation of a series of negative and scattered thoughts, loss of hope and emotional and physical exhaustion in carrying out activities. Two factors that affect academic burnout are sleep quality and social intimacy. This study was conducted in order to investigate the relationship between sleep quality and social intimacy, and academic burn-out in the students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences</p><p><strong>MATERIALS &amp; METHODS: </strong>This study was descriptive and correlational. The population of this study consisted of the students in Tabriz University of Medical Sciences and 196 medical students were selected. They completed Berso et al. Academic Burnout Questionnaire, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Miller Social Intimacy Scale (MSIS). The validity of the questionnaires confirmed by experts’ views. Their reliability were obtained as 77%, 64% and 85% for academic burnout, sleep quality and social intimacy questionnaires respectively by calculating the internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha). For data analysis, descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation test, Regression, cluster analysis and t-test were used.</p><p><strong>RESULTS:</strong> The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between sleep quality and academic burnout at the level p&lt;0.05 (r=0.38). There was a negative and significant relationship between social intimacy and academic burnout at the level p&lt;0.05 (r= -0.40). Also, the regression results showed that sleep quality and social intimacy were able to predict 37% and 39% of academic burnout respectively. Moreover, the students were divided into two clusters of individuals with high social intimacy and individuals with low social intimacy. No significant difference was found between the two types in terms of the variable of academic burn-out.</p><p><strong>CONCLUSION:</strong> Based on the research results, it can be stated that the variables of sleep quality and social intimacy are the predictor factors of academic burn-out.</p>

Introdution: In today's societies, a high percentage of people are dissatisfied with the physical appearance that such physical dissatisfaction provides tendencies for many psychological problems.The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between body image and self-concept with happiness among women seeking cosmetic surgery in Tehran. Methods The research method was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population consisted of all female applicants for cosmetic surgery referred to the medical centers (15 khordad plastic surgery hospital, and Fatima plastic surgery hospital) in Tehran in 2016. 100 of them were selected through purposive sampling. For collecting the data,, the self-body multidimensional relationship questionnaire (Cache, Winstead and Janda, 1987), self-concept questionnaire (SCQ) (Rogers, 1961) and the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (Argyle, 1989) were used. Data were analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate regression analysis using SPSS (ver. 16) software. Results: The findings showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between physical image and happiness. Therefore, there was a positive and significant relationship between happiness and physical image components such as appearance assessment, fit assessment, tendency to fit and body satisfaction, But there was not a significant relationship between happiness, subjective weight and apparent tendency .There was also a negative and significant relationship between self-concept and happiness. Body image and self-concept significantly predicted happiness. Conclusion: Therefore, it can be concluded that body image and self-concept play a significant role in the happiness of women who apply for cosmetic surgery

The purpose of this study is to explain the relationship between the level of income with the level of public consumption in District Bontonompo Gowa District. This research uses time series data obtained from Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The analytical tool used is Pearson correlation formula with the help of SPSS For Windows Release 16. The results concluded that the income level has a significant relationship to the level of public income in District Bontonompo Gowa Regency. It is expected that the Gowa Regency government can pursue programs that can encourage the creation of more and more diverse employment so that the communities of each bias can earn a decent income and meet their consumption needs
