This study examines informal hypothesis testing in the context of drawing inferences of underlying probability distributions. Through a small-scale teaching experiment of three lessons, the study explores how fifth-grade students distinguish a non-uniform probability distribution from uniform probability distributions in a data-rich learning environment, and what role processes of data production play in their investigations. The study outlines aspects of students’ informal understanding of hypothesis testing. It shows how students with no formal education can follow the logic that a small difference in samples can be the effect of randomness, while a large difference implies a real difference in the underlying process. The students distinguish the mode and the size of differences in frequencies as signals in data and used these signals to give data-based reasons in processes of informal hypothesis testing. The study also highlights the role of data production and points to a need for further research on the role of data production in an informal approach to the teaching and learning of statistical inference. Frequently, research on management education does not take into account the role of Information Technology as a key resource to support teaching and learning processes. In this article, the authors explore the current applications of Three Dimensional Virtual Worlds (3DVW) for Management education. The authors researched the educational institutions subscribed to Second Life (SL) (http://secondlife.com/), as it is one of the most popular open 3DVW available worldwide. The results reveal that only 31% of the institutions that answered the authors’ questionnaire actually use SL in Management education. Regarding the acceptance of SL in Management education, one third of the 15 institutions using it claim that it has been well received and accepted both by students and lecturers/professors. These results lead to several questions for further research and development of practices concerning the use of 3DVW for Management education.

The role of information technology (IT) transforming higher education (HE) institutions is flourishing. Students, lecturers, and faculty staff adopt overarching platforms and applications that are driven by ubiquitous technology such as big data and cloud computing to support their teaching and learning activities. In this chapter, the authors analysed cases of EdTechs (apps) used in the higher education institutions (HEIs) and their impact on teaching and learning processes. They draw the benefits, challenges, and appropriate cases pertaining to the apps used in HEIs in supporting such processes. They find that EdTechs have a high potential to provide better education for students, easier teaching process for lecturers, and clearer managerial process for administrators and faculty members. The chapter concludes that while EdTechs used during the pandemic can provide an alternative learning experience, it still lacks in providing optimal learning engagement.

Emergency remote teaching and learning (ERTL) represent a critical and challenging time for teachers globally. To understand how Portuguese teachers interpreted their ERTL experiences of the first lockdown, we started by asking: What perspectives do teachers have about ERTL? Answering three open questions made available online between April and May of 2020, a sample of 305 preschool, basic, and secondary school teachers expressed their perspectives on (i) difficulties throughout ERTL; (ii) students’ constraints in participating in ERTL; (iii) the potential and benefits resulting from this exceptional period. Data were analyzed using content analysis. While Portuguese teachers perceived ERTL with concern, a majority also saw it as an opportunity. Workload, work conditions, and time management were the most frequently mentioned difficulties. Regarding students’ constraints, teachers emphasized participation, the role of parents, lack of contact, and autonomy. Despite the constraints and difficulties, teachers highlighted gains such as the development of digital competencies and the opportunity to transform teaching and learning. Only 18 teachers suggested there were no positive outcomes from this experience. Since this is an exploratory study, further studies are needed to triangulate the findings.

Abstract-Currently technology is developing so rapidly that it often forgets the purpose of life in this world, gadgets have been attached to almost everyone, especially children who still abuse gadgets. The role of parents is very important in supervising children's activities in playing gadgets to make it more useful because most of them are only for playing games every day, plus the current condition of the teaching and learning process is online so that students and students are obliged to use gadgets. The problem behind the creation of instructional media is that grade IV students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) Hidayatul Athfal Jonggol have difficulty memorizing short letters in the Al-Qur'an. Not a few of them often forget the order of the verses in short letters. The background factors include not using learning media that are attractive to students. This learning media contains material, Multiple Choice Quizzes, Puzzles and Profile Maker. The method used in the design of this learning media is the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) where this method is structured based on 6 (six) stages, namely concept, design, obtaining content material, assembly, testing, and distribution. With the creation of this learning media, it is hoped that this learning media will be able to make it easier for students and students to memorize short letters with correct recitation of recitation and the memorization process will be smoother and more enjoyable.Abstrak- Saat ini teknologi berkembang sangat pesat sehingga sering melupakan tujuan hidup di dunia ini, gadget sudah melekat hampir kepada setiap orang, terutama anak-anak yang masih menyalahgunakan gadget.
