METHODS: Grounded theory qualitative study in a community where 40% of the population is aged 65 or above. The collection of data was made via the non-participating observation of nursing practice during 41 home visits and semi-structured interviews to nurses, the elderly and the family. RESULTS: the following categories emerged - structural organization of at-home care, diagnostic assessment in context and therapeutic intervention in context. CONCLUSION: the central category was "Building the relationship in an at-home context", due to the fact that the relationship between the nurse, the elderly and the family is central across the entire care process. The article considers the gender culture in the family, one of the most closed and local socio-cultural institutions. The relevance of this topic is determined by the anthropological turn in modern humanitarian knowledge, and the involvement of new data in scientific circulation, which is obtained as a result of the use of case-study semi-formalized techniques for interviewing respondents. Thus, on the basis of the interviews received, there are reconstructed contradictory forms of gender identity in a young married couple in Perm. The article presents the materials of the respondents’ interviews in the form of narratives consistently presenting the key stages of the relationship. Gradually, the narrative’s characters begin to construct a gender identity in a new cultural institution – their own family. There can be seen a conflict between the characters’ symbolic self-identity and their real practices. The man takes a dominant role in the beginning of the relationship. He objectifies the woman and alone decides when to start the relationship. Then the situation changes. The man’s dominant role is replaced with a passive one. The initiative goes to the woman, who repeats the man’s behavior. At the same time, it turns out that in everyday life, the respondents fill the roles of the husband and wife with special content. The wife’s role includes the mother’s behavior towards her husband, and the husband’s role includes the child’s behavior towards his wife. The family is an inverse patriarchal type of relationship. The woman has a dominant role, but identifies herself as an obedient wife.

The article aims at describing the relationship between the educational activity of the elderly and a more optimal way of experiencing their aging. That link can be justified by a higher measure of the overall level of satisfaction with their lives. The purpose of the study described in the paper was an in-depth analysis of the components of life satisfaction among actively learning seniors. A questionnaire survey was conducted with the voluntary participation of 405 third age university students (U3A). The authors collected data on the critical areas comprising individual well-being, illustrating the diversity in the experience of old age among active mature learners. Only 6.8% of the U3A learners are not satisfied with their life achievements. The study revealed that seniors with four or more children were most pleased, suggesting that self-actualization in the family and educational domains need not be competitive. The analysis of the health component of life satisfaction showed a clear overrepresentation of seniors with the good psychophysical condition. In general, successful ratings of the component measures of life satisfaction among the members of the researched group predominate.

Abstract:VIOLENCE AGAINST THE ELDERLY: THE THIRD PART AS A PSYCHIC REGULATORThe paper proposes reflections on the idea that the ingress of a third part in the relationship marked by violence, especially against the elderly, contributes to alter the dysfunctional model and to stabilize the guiding moral behaviors boundaries. It is not to consider that the aggressor hesitates in front of a third part to avoid the social disapproval or the punishment, but it is to observe that the psyche loosens the bounds with the social conventions in the absence of an element which sustains the constitutive triangulation of the moral space especially in stressful situations. The theoretical readings related to the proposition are made from the psychoanalysis contributions mainly in which it refers to the updating of the paternal role; the systemic model, particularly due the changes that occur in the system when there are alterations in its composition; and the social learning regarding the exposure to models to be adopted as source of vicarious schooling. It still proposes reflections over the aging context in the contemporary society, considering the increase on the number of elderly people, the demands of work which take to the deflation of the inner space in the family and thelongevity as a collective reality that the mankind is not aware of and which requires to be signified, invented and appraised. Keywords: Violence. Elderly. Family. Society. The research into students' family values and attitudes is presented in the article. The authors compare the results of the polls which were taking place in 2013 and 2019 in Chelyabinsk. The general selection for the research was 174 persons (17-23-year-olds). 91 students (in 2013) and 83 students (in 2019) participated in the questionnaire. The results of the research have confirmed the tendencies to a decrease in the importance of the family as values found earlier among young people in Russia. It has been established that marriage as students view it is becoming freer from obligations, but it assumes reproduction in the form of the birth of children. The attitudes to the creation of their own family with two children in the long-term remain among students. Modern students want to build the relationship with the spouse as equals and to share obligations for children's upbringing between the husband and the wife. They consider that the age of 20 – 30 is an optimum one for marriage and becoming a parent. The results of the research allow predicting the whole complex of demographic problems whose reasons are the decrease in the importance of the family; the decrease in the orientation to the parental family as a role model; the acceptance and approval of civil marriages.

The role offamily inelderly care in Indonesia remainsfeasible solutionfor both economic andcultural reasons. Rapidsocio-economic changes have raised the concerns whetherfamily members can effectively meet the need ofelderly care. This study examines the relationship between household structure variables and the use of health services. BACKGROUND With the increasing of the elderly population, the mental health problems of the elderly have attracted the attention of scholars. Although the risk factors from the adulthood of mental health have been widely explored in existing studies, how factors from both adulthood and childhood, especially financial supports received impact mental health are still unknown. OBJECTIVE This paper aims to investigate the impacts of intergenerational financial supports from both adulthood and childhood on mental health of the elderly in China. METHODS This paper collects information of 1,587 respondents who are 65 and older from two-wave data of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) to conduct the empirical analysis. RESULTS Our results indicate that financial supports as a whole significantly influence elderly people’s mental health. Specifically, individuals have different loneliness and depression levels due to different family financial conditions in childhood and financial supports from children in adulthood. Moreover, financial supports in adulthood negatively moderate the relationship between the family financial condition and the mental health of elderly people. CONCLUSIONS The findings point to the importance of continued inter-generational financial support in maintaining the elderly’s psychological health. Raising the retirement income or appeal to children to provide supports to the elderly can promote the mental health of the elderly, especially for these elderly people with poor family financial conditions in their childhood.
