This study investigates the translation strategies used in translating 25 cultural references and expressions in Mourid Barghouty’s autobiography ‘I Was Born There, I Was Born Here’ (2009) from Arabic into English. The results of this research may assist the trainee translators to improve their understanding of the effect of culture on the quality of the translation. The researchers adopt two theoretical models: Venuti’s domestication and foreignization (1998) and Ivir’s (1987) procedures for the translation of cultural references. This study tries to find out to what extent the translation has accounted to render the original cultural bound expressions maintaining their meaning in the target language. The researchers adopt a qualitative research since the data analysis is based on analytical and descriptive approaches. After analyzing the selected data, the researchers find out that the domestication strategy has been the most frequently-used strategy at (52%), and foreignization comes second at (48%). The procedure of substitution has been used the most (seven times), followed by literal translation and borrowing with the same number of times (six times), then defining the elements of culture (four times), then omission (twice). Lexical creation and addition have not been used at all. The findings also show that the translator has managed to capture the intended meaning sought by the original author in most extracts. The researchers recommend that translators of culture-bound expressions should be aware of the two involved cultures. This helps them to determine the cultural context in which a text takes place, so they can achieve the closest equivalents in the target text.

The research dealt with Metaphor Sentences. The aims of this study were: (1) to find out the translation strategies of metaphors are used in The Magic of Thinking Big and (2) to describe the translation strategies maintain metaphors in The Magic of Thinking Big. The research was conducted by using qualitative design. The data of this study were sentences. The data were collected through documentary technique and the instrument was the documentary sheet. The technique of data analysis was descriptive. The finding of this study revealed that: (1) The metaphor in The magic of Thinking Big were translated by applying six translation strategies, namely: word for word Translation (5.3%) lieral translation (4.3%), faithful translation (57.5%), Free translation (3.2%), communicative translation (30.5%) and discursive creation was found (2.2%). (2) The metaphors are maintained that found in the Magic of Thinking Big are original metaphors turned into another original metaphors, stock metaphors turned into another stock metaphors, adapted metaphors turned into adapted metaphors, dead metaphors turned into dead metaphors, original metaphor turned into stock metaphor, stock metaphor turned into original metaphor, meanwhile, 10 original metaphors and 1 dead metaphor are no longer classified as metaphors. Language has special characteristic that is metaphor sentences, therefore in the case of translating of metaphor sentences in which their concept in unknown for readers, the translator often faces the problems to find out the translation strategies to translate metaphor in a source language (SL) and how the metaphor sentences are maintained in the target language (TL).Keywords : Metaphor, Translation Strategies, Maintain Metaphor

The research aimed to explore the problems and the solutions in translating proverbs in the SL into the TL. This research applied a qualitative research and supported by cultural and translation analyses. The data were collected from the dialogues of Ngapul and Yerti in the film of “Mate ras Mate”. The Karonese proverbs in the MRM film texts were the source language (SL). The researchers translated the SL and found out their equivalents in the target language (TL) in English. The data for this research were gathered from its film text. After collecting the proverbs in film, the researchers identified and translated them into English. The researchers applied the translation procedures of cultural equivalent, paraphrase, descriptive equivalent, and literal translation method to translate the proverbs in the SL into the TL. The result shows that many Karonese proverbs and cultural terms in the SL have no equivalent in the TL.

While the interpretation of the Quran emphasizes the importance of an understanding of the causes, issues and incidents in relation to revelation as well as knowing its time and place, the translation studies concern with the roles of context in ensuring a precise translation. Context is regarded as one of the crucial parts in translating metaphorical connotations as it captures the meaning that transcends its literal translation. This study aims to highlight the importance of context in achieving an exact translation, especially in translating the Quranic metaphorical connotationsinto the Malay language based on semantic equivalence between the source and target text to the closest possible to the meaning of the original Arabic text. This is achieved by an analysis of the descriptive, analytical and comparative methods of selected copies of translations by Mahmoud Younis, Abdullah Basmeih and Zaini Dahalan. The findings show that these translators pay special attention to the importance of context in the translation of the Quranic metaphorical connotations. Evidences also show some flaws in the delivery of the intended meaning in the target language when these translations rely solely on the texts’ literal translation, consequently causing a diversion from the intended meaning of the Quranic message. Therefore, this study suggests that it is not reliable for a study of the Quran nor for the reader of the target language to depend on one absolute translation only, but to refer to and compare different copies of the translation in order to reach the precise connotation. إذا كانت التفاسير القرآنية تهتم بمعرفة أسباب النزول للآيات القرآنية والقضايا والحوادث المتعلقة بها وكذلك وقت ومكان نزول الآية القرآنية بغية الوصول إلى معرفة تفسيرها وفهمها فهما صحيحا، فإن دراسات الترجمة تعتني بدور السياق ) context ( في تحقيق الترجمة الححيحة يع د السياق اانبا م اجووان الي جب ااننتبا إليها نند ترجمة الدانانت المجازية نظرا انشتمالها نلى المعنى الذي يتجاوز المعنى الحقيقي، والذي ان يمك نقله نقلا حرفيا، وإان لفسد المعنى المراد يستهدف هذا البحث إلى إبراز أهمية السياق في تحقيق ال ترجمة الححيحة، نظرا لأهمية مراناته، خاصة في ترجمة الدانانت المجازية القرآنية إلى اللغة الملايوية بوصفها محاولة التقري بالمعنى، ان تبديل له، المبنية نلى نلاقة التكافؤ الدانلي بين النص المحدر، وهو النص القرآني العربي، والنص الهدف، وهو النص المترام إلى اللغة الملايوية ويتم هذا البحث باختيار النسخ الي ترجمها محمود يونس، والشيخ نبد الله بسَميه، والحاج زيني دحلان للقيام بالدراسة التحليلية النموذاية تتم معاجوة الموضوع في هذا البحث بالمنهج الوصفي والمنهج التحليلي والمنهج المقارن فم خلال تحليل بعض النماذج، تلاحظ الباحثة أن المترجمين يرانون السياق في ترجمتهم الدانانت المجازية القرآنية، لكنه ان يخلو م بعض القحور الي تحتاج إلى إنادة النظر فيها؛ منها أن بعض النحوص القرآنية ترجموها ترجمة حرفية مما أدى إلى ضياع المعنى المراد في الرسالة القرآنية لذلك توصي الدراسة بضرورة المقارنة بين التراام المختلفة لأال الوصول إلى المعنى المقحود في الرسالة القرآنية، وان يعتمد القارئ نلى ترجمة واحدة مجردة

The teaching process cannot be simplified to definitions of the best teachers as those possessing certain desirable teaching behaviours and skills (Katz, 2002). Although there are numerous factors that significantly influence learning and teaching, one might agree that specific teaching roles dominantly determine the quality of preschool teaching processes and learning outcomes. Furthermore, two equally important dimensions that characterize teaching roles, as linked with concepts of identity, are professional and personal dimensions. Therefore, one might be wondering: Who are contemporary preschool teachers? How do they define their self and identity? What determines identity that preschool teachers describe as theirs? Consequently, how do these identities influence the quality of process of early and preschool care and education? Answering these questions is no easy task since the concept of identity is defined in various ways in the more general literature (Beijaard, Meijer, & Verloop, 2004). This chapter is focused on an analysis of preschool teacher identity from three specific aspects. First, since all identity models emphasize the cultural context within which preschool teachers' identity develops and its crucial role, contemporary changes in preschool teacher roles and a new study program called Early and Preschool Teacher Education and Care are analysed in the Croatian context. Secondly, in order to follow contemporary literature, theoretical models of identity are presented. Afterwards, based on such models, the personality traits and temperament of research participants are analysed within the context of preschool teacher identity. Finally, the chapter's third section analyses preschool teachers' values, motives, and narratives.

At present, the usefulness of the website is seen only as a complement to the services of government agencies, many Ministry of Religion websites have an attractive appearance, but the quality of the information content presented on the website is not always updated. This study aims to analyze the use of the website of the Ministry of Religion of the Special Province of Yogyakarta and Riau Province. The research method used in this study is a qualitative research method to explore a case with data analysis techniques using the help of Nvivo12 Plus software. The results showed that in general the two websites both already have website content that refers to regulations, but in terms of the quality of presenting data, the website of the Ministry of Religion of Riau Province is considered better and meets 3 (three) website usability criteria, namely: Accessibility related to availability and ease of users to access content from a website can be seen from the comparison in terms of ease in understanding the appearance of the number of visitors between the two websites of the Ministry of Religion. second, Easy of use is related to the effort or effort made to use a website or how easily a website can be seen and differences in the availability of data that is still empty in some website columns, and third, namely Customization and Personalization relating to a website that provides content or content dynamic looks of the level of popularity of news on the website. Saat ini, kegunaan dari websiteterlihat hanya sebagai pelengkap dari pelayanan lembaga pemerintahan saja, banyak websiteKementerian Agama yang memiliki tampilan yang menarik, namun kualitas isi informasi yang disajikan di website tidak selalu di perbaharui. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kegunaan websiteKementerian Agama Provinsi Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta dan Provinsi Riau. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif untuk mengeksplorasi suatu kasus dengan teknik analisis data menggunakan bantuan softwareNvivo12Plus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Secara umum kedua websitesama-sama telah memiliki konten websiteyang mengacu pada regulasi, namun dalam hal kualitas menyajikan data, website Kementerian Agama Provinsi Riau dinilai lebih baik dan memenuhi 3 (tiga) kriteria kegunaan websiteyaitu: Accessibility yang berkaitan dengan ketersediaan dan kemudahan pengguna untuk mengakses konten dari suatu website terlihat dari perbandingan dari sisi kemudahan dalam memahami tampilan jumlah pengunjung antara kedua website Kementerian Agama. kedua,Easy of use berkaitan dengan usaha atau upaya yang dilakukan untuk menggunakan sebuah website atau seberapa mudah website dapat digunakan terlihat dan perbedaan ketersediaan data yang masih kosong dibeberapa kolom website, dan ketiga yaitu Customization and Personalization yang berkaitan dengan suatu website yang menyediakan konten atau isi yang dinamis terlihat dari tingkat popularitas sebuah berita diwebsite.

In accordance with translation, the metaphors must be translated very carefully in order to avoid misunderstanding. Larson (1984:250) states that If metaphors from source language are translated literally into the target language, they will often be completely misunderstood. Because the translation cannot simply reproduce, or be, the original. In fact, in the folklores there are still literally in translating the text. The aims of this study were to describe the realization of translation strategies in the translation live metaphors in the Sumatera Folklores. The research was conducted by using qualitative design. The data of this study were live metaphors in the Sumatera Folklores. The source of data were 15 folklores in Sumatera. The data were collected through documentary technique and the instrument for collecting the data was documentary sheet. The technique of data analysis was descriptive. The findings of this study revealed that the realization of translation strategies in live metaphors in the Sumatera Folklores into English by applying two process, namely: Single Strategy (91.83%), Double Strategies (8.16%). Metaphors often become the problem in translation and in accordance with translation, the metaphors must be translated from source language (SL) into target language (TL) in order to avoid misunderstanding. Keywords: Translation Strategies, Live Metaphor, Sumatera language, Folklores

Conducting qualitative research can be seen as a developing communication act through which researchers engage in a variety of conversations. Articulating the results of qualitative data analysis results can be an especially challenging part of this scholarly discussion for qualitative researchers. To help guide investigators through this difficult communicative process, the authors suggest Grice’s (1989) Conversational Maxims of Quantity, Quality, Relation, and Manner as general guidelines to follow when formulating and presenting findings in qualitative research products as well as basic assumptions to guide readers when judging the quality of result representations.
