Children's gardens have recently been shown to increase life skills. The purpose of this study was to assess the effects that gardening/plant activities from the Junior Master Gardener curriculum, Literature in the Garden, have on children's life skills. The life skills examined were leadership, teamwork, self-understanding, decision-making skills, and communication skills. About 130 third-grade students from a Lee County, AL, school participated in the study. Students were equally divided into control and experimental groups, and each student was given the youth life skills inventory (YLSI) as a pre- and posttest. The experimental group participated in eight gardening/plant activities after the pretest, whereas the control group did not complete the activities. No significant differences were found between pretests and posttests for teamwork, self-understanding, decision making, communication, and overall life skills. Significant decreases from pretest to posttest were found on leadership skills for the experimental group. Several trends were observed with students who read more for fun, read more each week, and read more garden books generally increasing in life skills.

Reading is considered as one of the essential components of the macro-skills in Linguistics and it is one of the various language skills that a learner must possess. It is an acquired skill for which the individual has the unique ability to pursue meaning from the text. Given this definition, the main purpose therefore of reading is comprehension, and without it, reading does not take place. The study assessed the effectiveness of prediction chart in enhancing the reading comprehension of Grade 12 students of University of Cebu Lapu-lapu Mandaue, Mandaue City, Cebu, S.Y. 2019-2020. The study employed a quasi-experimental design. The research subjects of the study were 46 Grade 12 students. These subjects were grouped into two heterogeneous groups: the control group and experimental group. The experimental group were the only subjects exposed to the use of prediction chart, using the interventional material “My Father Goes to Court” by Carlos Bulosan, while the control group were exposed to the traditional classroom instruction using the same intervention material. A researcher-made questionnaire was utilized to assess the effectiveness of prediction chart. Based on the study results, the control group's pretest performance has a significant difference from their posttest performance. This implies that the use of the traditional classroom instruction or pure lecture does not enhance the reading comprehension of the control group. In contrary, pretest performances of experimental group significantly differ from their posttest performances. Thus, the study concluded that the use of prediction chart in enhancing the reading comprehension of grade 12 students is effective. With this premise, the students can develop higher order thinking skills (HOTS) and camaraderie while learning as they step higher on their level of education.

The current study aims at investigating the effectiveness of using infographics as an approach to teach the programming fundamentals on developing analytical thinking skills for high school students in the city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia. The study is based on the two-group quasi-experimental design. Participants were 64 girls at the 1st secondary school in Makkah. They were divided into an experimental group comprising of 32 students and a control group comprising also of 32 students. The programming unit was taught to the experimental group using the educational infographics strategy while the control group was taught using the traditional way of instruction. The researcher designed the lessons of the unit based on an infographics form. She designed the analytical thinking test to measure several of the analytical thinking skills. The researcher also used the following statistical methods: t-test for independent samples, Black’s Gain Ratio to measure effectiveness. The study results pointed out the effectiveness of using infographics strategy as an approach to teach the programming fundamentals on developing analytical thinking skills.

Caring for the persons with first episode psychosis is challenging and demanding. It may lead to the increased burden, expressed emotions among the caregivers. The numerous studies have shown that high burden and negative expressed emotions among caregivers can lead to early relapse in the patients with first episode psychosis. To evaluate the effects of the brief psychoeducation on the caregivers burden and expressed emotions. A quasi experimental - before and after with control group research design was adopted for the study. A total of 60 caregivers have participated in the study, of which 30 caregivers in experimental group and 30 caregivers in the control group. Family Burden Interview Schedule (Pai and Kapoor, 1981) and Attitude Questionnaire (Sethi et al., 1981) was used to assess caregiver's burden and expressed emotions. At end of the psychoeducation intervention, burden among caregivers and negative expressed emotions of the caregivers have significantly reduced. The positive expressed emotions have been increased. The research aims to determine “the Impact of Scientific Creative Thinking Skills on Scientific Process Skills”. Thus, the research was performed with 24 teacher candidates in the control group and 24 teacher candidates in the experimental group in the second class of the Department of Science Teaching in a university in Istanbul Province. In the experimental group of the research, the laboratory program to be designed by the researchers on the basis of scientific discussion and research; and in the control group, the conventionally designed laboratory program were applied for an academic semester. The research data was gained through “Scientific Creativity Test” to be developed by Hu and Adey [14] and adapted by Kadayıfçı [16]; “Scientific Process Skills Test” to be developed by Okey, Wise and Burns, and adapted by Geban, Aşkar and Özkan into Turkish. The conclusions to be reached by the research are in favour of the experimental group and the last application, and it has positive impact on the opinions of the teacher candidates related with the development of the scientific creativity skills.

Little research is available on families of children with visual impairments. The authors examined stress and coping in a sample of 130 families (experimental group) of visually impaired children who responded to a parent questionnaire and the Family Environment Scale (FES). A control group of 78 parents responded to FES only. Findings revealed that the experimental group experienced various stressors such as future concerns, financial concerns, concerns about services, and concerns about the social acceptance of the child. These families were less involved in intellectual and cultural activities and used less structure and organization than did the controls. In coping, many families used various formal and informal sources of support as well as personal coping strategies. Implications for practitioners and social service providers are discussed.

The study aimed at identifying the effectivness of a suggested model for learning through projects based on shared learning in developing critical thinking skills and self-efficiency in Princess Nourah bint Abdularhman University (PNU). The study included a sample of 76 students from the specialization of primary level teachers in PNU randomly chosen, in which 39 students represented the experimental group. This group was taught the course of learning through projects using a suggested model. The other 37 students formed the control group and were taught the course in the conventional teaching manner. The critical thinking test and the self-efficiency scale were both administered before and after the experiment. The study revealed a significant difference (p < 0.05) in the means between the experimental and control groups in the critical thinking skills test and the self-efficiency sclae in favor of the experimental group.
