This study aimed to investigate the impact of e-learning on developing problem solving skills in mathematics teaching. Quazi-experimental design was used. The study population consisted of students in the first level in the Faculty of Education at University of Khartoum. Pre- and post-tests were used as study tools. A purposive sample was selected which comprised 60 students who registered in the course of Calculus-2 .The sample was divided into two groups: the experimental and control group. Using the appropriate statistical methods, data were analyzed using SPSS. The results indicated that there were statistically significant differences (p. < 0.05) between the experimental group and the control group in all problem solving skills including the dentification of the problem, relating the problem to previous information, choosing solution, generalization and making use of experience in new situations. The differences were all in favor of the experimental group. The researcher proposed appropriaterecommendations.

<p>The aim of the present research was study of the impact of music therapy on problem-solving skills of 4 to 6 years old children in Tehran. This research was a quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest control group. The statistical population was all 4 to 6 years old children in region 2 of Tehran. Using the random sampling method, the study sample was chosen in two experiment (15 individuals) and control (15 individuals) groups.   The experiment group received 12 sessions of music therapy and the control group was waiting for treatment meanwhile. To evaluate the problem-solving skill in children, the three subscales of Wechsler’s Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI) were used, including: mazes, cubes and arithmetic.  Analysis of data obtained from the questionnaires was conducted in two parts of descriptive and inferential. The data analysis indicated the significant increase of problem-solving average score of the experiment group compared to the control group.</p>

In this research the effects of STEM applications, which are aimed to support the integrated teaching knowledge of pre-service science teachers on the problem solving skills of pre-service science teachers were examined. The research was carried out in scope of the mixed method design of convergent parallel design. The research was conducted with pre-service science teachers of experimental group (n=31) and control group (n=31) who were studying at Fırat University. STEM applications including Algodoo were carried out with the pre-service teachers in the experimental group for one term. The data of the research were collected through the problem solving inventory test (PSIT), prospects diaries during the process of the pre-service science teachers in the experiment group. Quantitative data were analyzed using unpaired samples t-test. Statistically significant differences were found in favor of the experimental group when the PSIT post-test scores of the pre-service teachers in the experimental and control groups were analyzed. They said that STEM education is necessary and important for them, much better products arise as a result of gathering different disciplines, but integration of four disciplines is not easy.

This study was conducted at a university based in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The purpose of the study was to determine if the explicit instruction of selected grammar aspect, modal auxiliary verbs, improved students’ ability to write English. The study was qualitative in nature and a case study design was adopted. The focus was in relation to a sample of 80 student teachers who were randomly selected in 2016 in the Faculty of Education. 40 participants were randomly assigned into experimental and control groups. For the experimental group, training lasted six weeks. Both groups were made to write similar essays and those essays were marked focusing on the students’ ability to use modal auxiliary verbs. The study’s findings revealed that the experimental group performed better than those in the control group in the use of modal auxiliary verbs. Based on the findings, the study recommended explicit grammar instruction in all the students’ level of study in order to overcome the challenges they have in writing English. Thus, time should be created to ascertain that adequate explicit grammar lessons are offered to all pre-service teachers at the university.

This study aims to explore pre-service physics teachers’ problem-solving skills through the implementation of problem solving virtual laboratory (PSVL) model on the concept of simple pendulum. This research has been conducted at a university in Bengkulu in academic year 2016/2017. This research is a quasi experiment with nonequivalent control group design. Subjects were 70 students divided into experimental and control groups. Students of the experimental group follow lab activity using PSVL model, while the control group used the expository virtual lab (EVL) model. Students’ problem-solving skills are explored using problem-solving skills tests. Based on the data analysis, it is found that the improvement of students’ problem solving skills of experimental group and control group differ significantly. Improved students’ problem solving skills in experiment group was higher than control group. It can be concluded that the implementation of the PSVL model can improve students’ problem-solving skills.

<p>This paper primarily aims at exploring the impact of innovation teaching on future challenges for basic level pupils.<br />The descriptive analytical and experimental methods are used in this research. The researcher can put specific proposals for innovation teaching for basic level pupils.<br />The study sample consists of pupils totaling (20) pupils of the basic schools of the University of Khartoum - Republic of the Sudan.<br />Innovation and creativity are part of the essential skills that enable students to meet with future challenges, can implement a number of tips and techniques that can help students to think creatively and find solutions for future problems.<br />The results showed there are significant differences between the experimental group and control group before and after the test, which confirms that students of the basic schools will be more interested in the future challenges as measured by a survey given before and after the program.<br />The researcher recommended the Ministry of Education should develop a plan focusing on the development of the children creative abilities of the basic level pupils, because student at this level tends to invent things or find solutions.</p>

<p>The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the use of virtual labs on problem-solving ability of students to the concept of electricity. The subjects were students of physics education at Mataram University. Students were divided into two groups: experimental and control group. The research instrument used was in the form of problem-solving ability tests on electricity concept. The tests employed the form of essay that represent concepts about electricity being studied. The results showed the effect of the use of virtual labs on problem-solving ability of students to the concept of electricity. It can be seen from the different improvement of problem-solving ability in both groups. Problem-solving ability of experimental group is higher than the control group. From the analysis of these problem-solving steps, it can be seen that general students in both classes have the same ability to identify problems and define goals. In the next step, the different improvement in problem-solving skills in the two classes is significant. Experimental class’ students have a higher ability to plan and implement problem-solving solutions than those of control class.</p>

Objective: this investigation aimed to assess the impact of applying project-based pedagogy to the topic of central trend measures and statistical graphs. Method: the study’s participants comprised ninth-grade students of the Technical Educational Institution Francisco José de Caldas and were divided into two groups: experimental and control. The quasi-experimental design of the study involved three stages: diagnostic groundwork, a six-phase action plan construction, and transformation. Pre- and post- tests were conducted to measure research outcomes. Results: students assigned to the experimental group evinced an improvement in the comprehension of the addressed topics and a significant increase was observed in their communication and problem-solving skills. Discussion and Conclusions: the application of the pedagogic strategy of problem-based learning to measures of central tendency and statistical graphics encouraged students placed in the experimental group to discover statistical answers that would assist them in their daily personal and environmental requirements. It also ameliorated their conceptual comprehension and interpretation, improved their communication abilities and problem-solving skills, strengthened teamwork, and increased their sense of responsibility in comparison to the traditionally taught class.

Teaching materials by integrating local culture makes easier for students to understand the subject matter in the learning process. The aims of the study is to measure the effectiveness of teaching materials based on local wisdom of agriculture in Binjai in improving the students problem solving abilities. The research method was a quasi experimental which use non equivalent control group in the pretest posttest design. The sample of study were students of Senior High School grade X in Binjai that consisted of experiment group which used teaching materials based on local wisdom of agriculture in Binjai and control group that used student handbooks. Teaching materials are tested by material experts and technology experts to ensure the quality of teaching materials. Data collection was conducted through test. The results showed that the teaching materials based on local wisdom of agriculture in Binjai effective in improving students problem solving abilities in the experimental group students based on the results of N gain value was 0.67 which has medium criteria. It means teaching materials based on agricultural local wisdom of agriculture in Binjai can be used as one of the teaching materials in learning activities.

Smartboards, which are now widely used in the teaching and learning process in Saudi Arabia, have turned the traditional environments of the classrooms, especially the EFL classrooms to be more interesting and encouraging. Literature reviews suggest that Saudi students usually lack motivation for studying English as a foreign language. This study tends to investigate the impact of Smartboards on preparatory year EFL learners motivation at a Saudi university. Two intact groups were selected, in which one was termed as experimental and the second as control group. The experimental group was taught using the Smartboard while the control group was taught with the traditional whiteboard, pen and book method. The treatment was given for seven weeks. A questionnaire was administered to both the groups at the beginning and the end of the study. The data was analysed using the SPSS and the results showed that there was significant difference between the experimental and control groups in terms of motivation.

This study aimed to examine the impact of the use of self-questioning in the understanding of fifth grade students in mathematics material. The researcher used the experimental methodology for independent groups to investigate the impact of the independent variable, which is a self-questioning strategy on the dependent variable, which is understanding. The study sample consisted of 42 students from the fifth grade students from Khubayb bin Udai School in Riyadh; equally divided into two groups of 21 students in each group (experimental and control), and after making sure from groups' equivalence by applying the tools of the study, having been taught the experimental group by using self-questioning strategy, while the control group has been studied the unit by using the traditional method. After the completion of the study of prescribed content study, study tools (achievement test) were applied then. The results indicated to the presence of a statistically significant difference (at the significance level <0. 05) between the mean scores of the two groups' students (experimental and control) in achievement test posttest for the experimental group. Since the results of the study were positive in increasing the achievement, the researcher recommended the need to use self-questioning to raise the level of achievement of learners in mathematics material
