This study was aimed to identify student’s critical thinking skills through the use of integrated sciences teaching materials on pressure topic. This study was conducted at one of SMP in Cimahi, West Java, Indonesia for the 2015/2016 academic year. It used experimental method with nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. There were two classes involved, the experiment class where the students using the integrated sciences teaching materials, while the control class using conventional teaching materials provided at school. Data was respectively collected and analyzed by using student’s critical thinking skills test and data analysis tools SPSS version 21. The result shows that there is a significant difference in student’s critical thinking in student taught using integrated sciences teaching materials those taught with conventional teaching materials. It can be concluded that there is improvement in critical thinking skills of students in the experiment class compared to the control class. In addition, this study provided of positive impacts on student’s active learning and independent learning.

The purpose of conducting this research is to compare the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning learning model and the Project Based Learning learning model in terms of the critical thinking skills of elementary students. This type of research used in this research is Quasi Experimental with experimental design of Post test-Only Control Group Design. The population in the study were 164 five grade students in Diponegoro Salatiga Cluster, while the sample is 111 students of five grade students in SDN Mangunsari 01, SDN Mangunsari 03, and SDN Mangunsari 05. The results obtained from this study are based on descriptive statistics where the average implementation of the Problem Based Learning learning model is 92.46, while the average implementation of the Project Based Learning learning model is 85.15. the results of critical thinking skills in the Problem Based Learning model are higher than the Project Based Learning learning model reinforced by the T test results obtained by the Sig. (2-tailed) of 0, 047 0.05 thus there is a significant difference between the two groups.

Abstract This study was conducted to determine the effect of Cognitive Acceleration Programme on the critical thinking skills of 9th graders. The posttest only non-equivalent control group design was used. Two sections of class 9th were selected conveniently for experimentation. There were 80 participants (girls) in the experiment. There were 30 intervention lessons in the experimental classrooms. The posttest was designed based on Cornell Critical thinking test. Test was validated by experts from the Faculty of Education, Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad. The data were analyzed by the SPSS. The independent sample t-statistics were applied for control and experimental groups separately. The t-value for the comparison of performance of experimental and control group in sub-skills of critical thinking i.e., inference, deduction, assumption, interpretation, and argumentation showed significant difference. The results showed that critical thinking skills can be developed significantly through cognitive acceleration programme. So, the thinking science activities were recommended to science educators to incorporate into the classroom to accelerate critical thinking of students. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa melalui pembelajaran konvensional dan penggunaan media laboratorium laboratorium virtual pada konsep sistem pernapasan manusia. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen dengan rancangan pretest-postest control group design. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI semester dua berjumlah 50 orang siswa SMA yaitu 25 orang kelas XI.A dan 25 orang kelas XI.B di SMA Negeri Unggul Sigli Kabupaten Pidie. Pembelajaran di kelas eksperimen dilakukan dengan menggunakan media (software) virtual lab, sedangkan kelas kontrol diterapkan pembelajaran konvensional dan masing-masing kelas digunakan model Pembelajaran Langsung. Efektifitas penerapan Laboratorium virtual terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis dianalisis dengan menggunakan tes berupa uraian yang dilakukan dengan uji-t (Independent Samples t-Test). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa thit. 5,507 > ttab. 2,011. Dengan demikian, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan penerapan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media laboratorium virtual terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada konsep sistem pernapasan manusia. Kata Kunci: Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis, Laboratorium Virtual, dan Sistem Pernapasan Manusia This research aims to determine the differences in critical thinking skills of students who taking conventional learning and virtual labs on the concept of the human breathing system. The method used is an experimental method by design pretest-posttest control group design. The research population is high school students at class XI in the second semester of school time. Two classes with 25 students each were chosen purposively for experiment and control class. The experimental classed was taught by using learning media of virtual laboratory software, while the control class was taught with conventional learning and both classes were applied the Direct Instruction Model. Pretest and posttest on critical thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes of the students in both classes were compared and analyzed by using a test; essay and multiple-choice performed with t-test (Independent Samples t-Test). The results showed that there was significant improvement of critical thinking skills (tcount 5, 507 > ttable 2,011) students that learned through media of virtual laboratory software. Thus, there is a significant difference in the application of virtual laboratory software on students' critical thinking skills on the concept of the human breathing system. This study aims to determine the effect of the problem-based learning model (PBL) with a scientific approach to critical thinking skills of class X students of Al-Ma’arif Pandan Indah Islamic High School 2016/2017 academic year. The type of research used is quasi-experiment with Nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were all students of class X Islamic High School Al-Ma’arif Pandan. The sample used consisted of two classes taken using nonprobability sampling techniques, namely class XA as the experimental class, and class XB as the control class. The technique of collecting data on the implementation of RPP using the observation sheet and critical thinking skills of students was measured using a test in the form of a description question that had been validated by 2 expert experts. Data analysis of critical thinking skills carried out by t-test found that t-count = 2.58> 2.042. Based on the results of the analysis it can be concluded that the problem-based learning model with a scientific approach significantly influences students' critical thinking skills.

<div><p class="1eAbstract-text">This study investigated implementing multimedia teaching to improve students’ motivation and critical thinking skills based on students learning styles at Mahatma Gading School. Multimedia learning offers a significant opportunity to reach the greatest number of students and most effectively supports students with different learning styles. The study employed quantitative weak experimental of static group pre-test post-test. The respondents were 67 students from Mahatma Gading School academic year 2016. There was no control group. The data was computed using SPSS VERSION 22. Results of the pretest were observed before teaching and results of the posttest was conducted after teaching. Instruments used for data collection were in the form of test and questionnaire. The test was to measure students’ critical thinking skills and questionnaire to measure students learning styles and motivation. The researcher analyzed the data through Descriptive Statistics, and Wilcoxon Test. The data was then analyzed, which showed there was a statistically significant difference between students after implementing multimedia during the Science class. However, the result of the Wilcoxon Test on reading learners had no significant differences in students learning styles.</p></div>

This study aims to determine the effect of applying blended learning on static electricity material to students' critical thinking abilities. This study used a quasi-experimental research method with a pretest-posttest control group design. This study uses Mann Whitney U-Test data analysis techniques so that the data can be said to have a significant difference to the critical thinking skills of the experimental class using blended learning and the control class using direct (conventional) learning. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect after learning in blended learning which is characterized by differences in N-gain mean values that are significant between the experimental class and the control class, where the N-gain value in the experimental class is higher than the average N- gain in the control class.

This research is a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Data analysis used t-test and continued with an analysis of the N-gain value. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the experiment class and the control class with a significance value of 0,001 ≤ 0,05. N-gain values in the experiment class and control class were 0.53 and 0.30, this means that the improvement of students' critical thinking skills in the experimental class is better than the control class.</p><p><strong>Abstrak:</strong><strong> </strong>Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan model <em>Discovery Learning</em> dengan <em>Brainstorming</em> terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian <em>quasi-eksperimen</em> dengan desain <em>non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design</em>. Analisis data menggunakan uji <em>independent t-test</em> dan dilanjutkan dengan analisis nilai <em>N-gain</em>. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol yaitu dengan nilai signifikansi 0,001 ≤ 0,05. Nilai <em>N-gain</em> pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol masing-masing 0,53 dan 0,30, ini berarti peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada kelas eksperimen lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol.</p></td></tr></tbody></table></div>

Abstract - The results of the preliminary study show that students have low critical thinking skills. Teachingmaterials have an important role in learning. Learning cannot be done without teaching materials. This studyaims to (1) develop teaching materials in the form of android applications with the development model of theTeaching Material Writing Process Model (MPM2A), (2) determine the feasibility of teaching materials, (3)the effectiveness of teaching materials in improving students' critical thinking skills. This type of research isresearch and development (RnD) and to test the effectiveness of teaching materials. This study uses the QuasiExperiment design using pretest-posttest control group design in one of the state junior high schools in thecity of Bandung. The study sample consisted of 64 students. With 32 students in the experimental class and32 students in the control class. Jenis penelitianini adah penelitian dan pengembangan (RnD) dan untuk menguji keefektifan bahan ajar Penelitian inimenggunakan desain Quasi Eksperimen dengan menggunakan pretest-posttest control group design di salahsatu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas 64 siswa. Dengan 32 siswa kelaseksperimen dan 32 siswa kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian 1) berdasarkan uji kelayakan bahan ajar yangdikembangkan layak untuk digunakan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. 2) bahan ajar dapat meningkatkanketerampilan berpikir kritis pada kategori sedang 3) ukuran dari effect size bahwa bahan ajar yangdikembangkan efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis.Kata kunci: Bahan ajar, Android, IPA Terpadu, Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis

The study was conducted to find out the effect of cooperative learning strategies on students’ skill of interpretation and analysis at the higher secondary level. The research was quantitative. A pre-test post-test control group design was adopted for the study. One female public sector higher secondary school of district Sargodha was the population of the study. 60 students of grade XI were selected as a sample by using a simple random sampling technique. Two groups were formed: experimental and control comprising thirty students each. The experimental group was taught by applying cooperative learning strategies; jigsaw and scripted cooperation, while the conventional method was used to teach the control group. The period of intervention was sixteen weeks and English book I for grade XI was selected as content for intervention. A self-made test was used to assess the skills of interpretation and analysis as pretest and posttest. Data of pretest and posttest were analyzed by applying paired sample t-test. Analysis of the data showed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores of the experimental group. On the other hand, there was no significant improvement seen in the control group. Teachers were recommended to use cooperative learning strategies to develop the critical thinking skills of the students.

The covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia has affected various sectors, one of them is in the education sector. Thus, it interferes with the learning processes conventionally. A solution is needed to respond to the problem in the 21st century. Online learning is one of the alternative ways in utilizing the use of IT-based teaching materials. This study aims to improve the students’ critical thinking skills by using an e-module. The research was the quantitative descriptive method. This study was a quasi-experimental by using a nonequivalent control group design. The samples of the study consisted of 2 classes, namely XI MIPA 1 and XI MIPA 2. The analysis results using independent sample t-test showed a significance value of 0,000 0,05. The data analysis results of critical thinking skills used N-gain score test; the experimental class obtained a score of 0,72, in which it belonged to the high category. Meanwhile, the average N-gain score for the control class was 0,34, in which it belonged to the medium category. It can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the students’ critical thinking skills between the experimental class and the control class. Therefore, the implementation of a phenomenon-based learning e-module can be an alternative to improve the students’ critical thinking skills.
