The interrogative speech acts presented in the linguistic material of the “Rig Veda” — one of the most ancient and culturally significant works that were a manifestation of ritual and mythological discourse, are researched. The language of Vedic texts is considered from the standpoint of the functional approach as a pragmatic system for which such communicative characteristics as intentions and illocutionary power of utterances are relevant. The system of norms and ideas that govern speech activity in the Vedic ritual interaction is taken into account. It has been proven that interrogative speech acts are one of the most important pragmatic elements of this type of discourse. The novelty of the research lies in the fact that all the interrogative structures of the monument extracted as a result of a continuous sampling are studied for the first time from the point of view of pragmatics, taking into account communicative intentions. Various types of questions are described and analyzed, including interrogative constants, interrogative directives, including questions with secondary illocution, as well as proper interrogative sentences. The author comes to the conclusion that, in addition to non-specific pragmatics for a given linguistic material, interrogative sentences in the text of the Rig Veda contribute to the realization of the magic-incantatory function of speech. The results are valuable both for studying the named type of discourse and for clarifying the understanding of the text of the monument and Vedic culture as a whole.

We analyze lexical and semantic originality and part of speech activity of dialect words as one of the stylistic dominants of the S.А. Yesenin’s novella “The Ravine” and as part of his in-dividual creative manner. This study was conducted for the first time. We consider the material using the methods of interpretation, component analysis, as well as structural descriptive and con-textual methods. In the course of working with the existing literature on this issue, we discover the lack of material coverage and the absence of dialect vocabulary analysis in the novella “The Ravine” from morphological point of view. We find the thematic, morphological diversity and reveal the manifestation specificity of local words in the author’s and dialogical speech of the work, as well as the functional validity of their application. We prove that the use of local words in novella is caused not only by the idea of novella being a village theme work, but also has a deep cognitive basis. The relevance of the study lies in the fact that conducted research of novella’s dialectal vo-cabulary allows to complement the knowledge of the specificity of S.A. Yesenin poetics’, his lin-guistic worldview and the peculiarity of his individual style.

Introduction. Any language’s verb system has many resources for denoting various actions of people. The relations of the action or state of the subject to its object are determined by the grammatical category of the voice, represented in the Udmurt language by the pairs of causative – non-causative, reflexive – non-reflexive forms of voices. The article considers the functioning of the verb’s reflexive voice in the modern Udmurt language, including the etymology of the voice’s affix, the grammatical meanings of reflexive verbs. Materials and Methods. The main material of the research is based on the Udmurt-Russian Dictionary (2008) and the texts of Udmurt writers included into the National Corpus of the Udmurt Language. The article used a set of such research methods as descriptive, continuous sampling, contextual analysis, taking into account the situational conditioning of the verb voice. On specific examples, the use of these methods makes it possible to consider the structure, dynamics and features of the functioning of the reflexive voice of the verb in the Udmurt language. Results and Discussion. As a result of the research, for the first time, among the reflexive voice’s groups we include verbs of passive voice. The reason of it is the low probability of using passive constructions in colloquial speech. The frequent cases of using passive meanings of verbs in the literature and in the press are defined by the calcified translation of foreign-language constructions. Conclusion. The grammatical structure of the Udmurt language is represented by two binary voice’s forms: reflexive/non-reflexive voice and causative/non-causative voice. Specific indicators of reflexive voice are affixes -ськ(ы)-/-ск(ы), -иськ(ы)-/-üськ(ы)-. From the point of view of semantic content, five semantic groups of returnable pledges are distinguished: reflexive, medial, reciprocal, impersonal, passive. The proposed classification is determined by the specifics of the relations between the subject and the object of action.

Give a opinion without hurting feelings: How to teach to give mitigated opinions or assessments? Abstract: Opinion, assessment or judgment are some of the most important acts of speech that a speaker of any language can perform. Through these, the point of view, perception, judgment, assessment or subjective evaluation that the interlocutor has about a certain person, object, situation, behavior, etc. can be expressed. Consequently, teaching E/LE students these kinds of speech acts is just as essential. For this reason, the main objective of this article is to explain how an mitigated opinion or assessment can be given in Spanish and how it can be taught in the E/LE classroom. For this, this didactic unit is proposed, which considers that the opinions or evaluations expressed by judges of reality shows such as Operación Triunfo, MasterChef or La voz can be attractive linguistic material to teach how to give an mitigated opinion. Key words: Opinion. Assessment. Mitigation. Realities Show.

The article offers an analysis of the paremias of Russian, French, Malagasy and Spanish, devoted to women. The research material was the paremiological units of these languages, obtained by continuous sampling from collections of paremias, works of art and bilingual dictionaries, the selection criterion is the presence of a woman’s lexical unit (French femme , Spanish mujer , Malagasy Vehivavy ) or a description of appearance, significance, behavior function as mother, wife, housewife, etc. in paremias in considered linguocultures. The purpose of the study is to reveal the universal and cultural-specific features of the concept of a woman in the considered corps of the Russian, French Malagasy and Spanish paremies. The tasks of the work also include consideration of the peculiarities of the paremiological and lexical units used in this fragment of the linguistic picture, as well as to describe the general and non-coinciding aspects of the origin and functioning of the antiparemia and the use of gradualness in the paremies. The selection and analysis of paremiological units showed that in the languages in question one can find paremic units characterizing a woman as ideal, intelligent, strong, etc. person, and also the importance of a woman as a housewife and her superiority over a man. A significant part of the analyzed linguistic material is made up of paradoxes in which a woman is compared with a female animal, a plant or object with which a certain quality of a woman is associated, and also a woman is presented as a stupid, talkative, unreliable, lazy, capricious person or unreasonable wife. The originality of the research is that the first time the analysis of the comparative consideration of the paremias about the woman on the material of the Russian, French, Malagasy and Spanish languages and the lexical and paremiological material of the Malagasy language introduced into the scientific circulation is made.

AbstractAlthough visual culture of the 21th century increasingly focuses on representation of death and dying, contemporary discourses still lack a language of death adequate to the event shown by pictures and visual images from an outside point of view. Following this observation, this article suggests a re-reading of 20th century author Elias Canetti. His lifelong notes have been edited and published posthumously for the first time in 2014. Thanks to this edition Canetti's short texts and aphorisms can be focused as a textual laboratory in which he tries to model a language of death on experimental practices of natural sciences. The miniature series of experiments address the problem of death, not representable in discourses of cultural studies, system theory or history of knowledge, and in doing so, Canetti creates liminal texts at the margins of western concepts of (human) life, science and established textual form.

Al-Qusayr is located 40 km south of modern al-Wajh, roughly 7 km from the eastern Red Sea shore. This site is known since the mid-19th century, when the explorer R. Burton described it for the first time, in particular the remains of a monumental building so-called al-Qasr. In March 2016, a new survey of the site was undertaken by the al-‘Ula–al-Wajh Survey Project. This survey focused not only on al-Qasr but also on the surrounding site corresponding to the ancient settlement. A surface collection of pottery sherds revealed a striking combination of Mediterranean and Egyptian imports on one hand, and of Nabataean productions on the other hand. This material is particularly homogeneous on the chronological point of view, suggesting a rather limited occupation period for the site. Attesting contacts between Mediterranean merchants, Roman Egypt and the Nabataean kingdom, these new data allow a complete reassessment of the importance of this locality in the Red Sea trade routes during antiquity.

Abstract: The basis of communicative textbooks is the principle of active communication, proclaimed as the leading principle of learning. According to this principle, language teaching is built adequately to the process of speech communication, there is a practical orientation of training, a functional approach to the selection and presentation of language material, situational and thematic presentation of educational material, taking into account individual psychological characteristics and the native language of students. The problems of communicative training became the object of scientific research E.I. Passov, who proposed the term "communicative method". At the moment, communicative textbooks are used to teach all types of speech activity. In communicative text-books, the main emphasis of training is aimed at working with speech material, while the expanded grammatical material is almost absent. Such textbooks are characterized by widely used visibility illustrating texts of a communicative direction. Key words: language, communicativeness, competence, textbook, principle, speech, communication, features, textbook studies, educational complex, speech activity.

Fourier transform spectra of the ν2 band of PH3 have been remeasured with 0.0045 cm-1 resolution. Ground state combination differences from these data have been fitted simultaneously with the microwave and submillimeterwave data to determine the ground state spectroscopical parameters of PH3 including the parameters of the Δk = ± 3n interactions. The correlation between the latter parameters has been discussed from the point of view of the existence of two equivalent effective rotational operators which are related by a unitary transformation. The ΔJ = 0, +1, ΔK = 0 (A1 ↔ A2, E ↔ E) rotational transitions in the ν2 and ν4 states have been measured for the first time by using a microwave spectrometer and a radiofrequency spectrometer with acoustic detection.

AbstractA conulariid preserved in three dimensions from Ordovician fluvioglacial erratics of the Northern European Lowlands (North German Plain) is described under open nomenclature. It is assigned to the genus Conularia with similarities to Baltoscandian conulariids. The lithology of the erratic boulder and fauna contained in it provide important information on the origin and transport direction of the sediment preserved in a kame from the Saalian glaciation. This paper deals with the site of origin of the boulder in Baltoscandia analysing the comprised palaeofauna, from a palaeostratigraphic and palaeogeographic point of view, from its deposition in Ordovician times until its arrival at its current location in the Late Pleistocene. It also reveals for the first time the internal structure of the conulariid aperture.

AbstractAblowitz–Kaup–Newell–Segur (AKNS) linear spectral problem gives birth to many important nonlinear mathematical physics equations including nonlocal ones. This paper derives two fractional order AKNS hierarchies which have not been reported in the literature by equipping the AKNS spectral problem and its adjoint equations with local fractional order partial derivative for the first time. One is the space-time fractional order isospectral AKNS (stfisAKNS) hierarchy, three reductions of which generate the fractional order local and nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger (flnNLS) and modified Kortweg–de Vries (fmKdV) hierarchies as well as reverse-t NLS (frtNLS) hierarchy, and the other is the time-fractional order non-isospectral AKNS (tfnisAKNS) hierarchy. By transforming the stfisAKNS hierarchy into two fractional bilinear forms and reconstructing the potentials from fractional scattering data corresponding to the tfnisAKNS hierarchy, three pairs of uniform formulas of novel N-fractal solutions with Mittag-Leffler functions are obtained through the Hirota bilinear method (HBM) and the inverse scattering transform (IST). Restricted to the Cantor set, some obtained continuous everywhere but nondifferentiable one- and two-fractal solutions are shown by figures directly. More meaningfully, the problems worth exploring of constructing N-fractal solutions of soliton equation hierarchies by HBM and IST are solved, taking stfisAKNS and tfnisAKNS hierarchies as examples, from the point of view of local fractional order derivatives. Furthermore, this paper shows that HBM and IST can be used to construct some N-fractal solutions of other soliton equation hierarchies.
