Introduction. The introduction of virtual technologies into the vocational training system makes it urgent to solve the task of adjusting communication in a situation where the student is in a virtual reality environment, while the teacher is in the real world. The research purpose is to study the role of two types of educational communication (reactive and active ones) with a student solving an educational task in a virtual reality environment, taking into account the gaming experience and the dominant type of student's perception. Materials and methods. During the laboratory experiment with the use of virtual reality headsets, the skill of hand-eye coordination was worked out on a sample of undergraduate teacher-training students (N=36). The author's questionnaire was used to assess the gaming experience, the dominant type of student's perception was assessed using the VARK Questionnaire (Version 7.8) by N. Fleming and S. Mills. The reliability of the data obtained was assessed using the chi-square test and the Student's t-test. Research results. There are no statistically significant differences between the groups of reactive and active communication in all indicators, with the exception of the experience of getting acquainted with virtual reality. The number of questions regarding the methods and sequence of performing game actions in the reactive group was the greatest (2.28), the same indicator in the group with active communication was insignificant (0.40). In the group with reactive communication, the subjects asked twice as many questions as in the group with active communication (4.78 and 2.44, respectively). Conclusions. The results confirm the hypothesis that the reactive and active modes of educational communication play different roles in the interaction between the teacher and the student. The dominant type of student's perception does not affect the process of organizing educational communication in a virtual reality environment. It is useful to take into account the results obtained at the stage of support of students' educational activities in a virtual reality environment in the context of providing active and reactive assistance by the teacher.

In this study, we propose a decision-making strategy for pinning-based distributed multi-agent (PDMA) automatic generation control (AGC) in islanded microgrids against stochastic communication disruptions. The target microgrid is construed as a cyber-physical system, wherein the physical microgrid is modeled as an inverter-interfaced autonomous grid with detailed system dynamic formulation, and the communication network topology is regarded as a cyber-system independent of its physical connection. The primal goal of the proposed method is to decide the minimum number of generators to be pinned and their identities amongst all distributed generators (DGs). The pinning-decisions are made based on complex network theories using the genetic algorithm (GA), for the purpose of synchronizing and regulating the frequencies and voltages of all generator bus-bars in a PDMA control structure, i.e., without resorting to a central AGC agent. Thereafter, the mapping of cyber-system topology and the pinning decision is constructed using deep-learning (DL) technique, so that the pinning-decision can be made nearly instantly upon detecting a new cyber-system topology after stochastic communication disruptions. The proposed decision-making approach is verified using a 10-generator, 38-bus microgrid through time-domain simulation for transient stability analysis. Simulations show that the proposed pinning decision making method can achieve robust frequency control with minimum number of active communication channels.

The article is devoted to the memory of an outstanding scholar — physicist, philosopher, theologian and translator — S. Khoruzhy (1941–2020), with whom the author maintained active communication for three decades. This communication included various human and scholarly encounters: meetings in person, correspondence, participation in projects and conferences, book presentations, and shared accommodations in Sofia and Moscow. The article reveals a number of hitherto unknown facts of the scholar’s biography. Also published are his thoughts on topics he found most relevant, based on an interview in Sofia in June 1997, transcribed by the author. Khoruzhy’s philosophical studies ran in parallel with his major subject (theoretical physics), but it was not until 1989 that his theological and philosophical works reached a wider audience. The article emphasises Khoruzhy’s versatile giſt: an original philosopher, author of the concept of synergetic anthropology and successor of the traditions of Russian religious philosophy, he is also atranslator of Ulysses, a scholar of J. Joyce, and a prominent figure of 20th- and 21st-c. Russian culture.

Since Indonesia announced that it had been exposed to COVID-19 on March 16, 2020, all forms of activities that trigger social activities were freely dismissed with various Social Distancing, Physical Distancing, and PSBB (large-scale social restrictions) policies. Many sectors are affected by this policy, including the education sector. The Minister of Education and Culture who established online learning (on the network) with an emergency curriculum that he published made learning a little different from usual. There is no face-to-face in the classroom directly and learning is transformed by distance learning that works with parents at home in active communication. The continuity of this learning depends on the teacher providing the material in its implementation, assisted and monitored by the parents of each student. By using whatsapp group media in learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is one of the efforts made by teachers in seeking an effective and fun learning. MI Al-Fadliliyah Darussalam continues to strive and is committed to optimally implementing online learning, the teacher's role is very important in the KBM it carries out. The use of whatsapp group media is the most popular media to facilitate long-distance communication, therefore online learning uses this media more often, because it is easier and better known in the community, especially parents. However, of course not only using whatsapp group media is not the end of the online learning solution. There needs to be a strategy and review related to the problems that occur to parents of students. Keywords: WhatsApp group media utilization, learning and the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract Background Counseling for adolescents who consider or attempt suicide may help reduce suicide rates. However, the impact of the type of counselor (e.g., father, mother, sibling, friend, teacher, other) on suicidal ideation/suicide attempts remains unclear. Therefore, we examined this association in Korean adolescents. Methods Using data from the 2015 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey of 65,485 adolescents, we examined risk factors for suicidal ideation/suicide attempts according to sex using a multiple logistic regression analysis. In a subgroup analysis, we investigated the associations between counselor type and suicidal ideation/suicide attempts stratified by the cause of stress for both sexes. Results Male participants were less likely to consider suicide when counseled by their mother (odds ratio [OR] 0.80; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.70–0.90) or friend (OR 0.89; 95% CI 0.80–0.99) and to attempt suicide when counseled by a friend (OR 0.74; 95% CI 0.60–0.92) than were those who did not receive any counseling. Female participants were less likely to attempt suicide when counseled by their mother (OR 0.66; 95% CI 0.53–0.82) or friends (OR 0.70; 95% CI 0.58–0.83) than when not counseled. Furthermore, adolescents with achievement/career choice-related and family problems were at a lower risk of suicide ideation/suicide attempts when counseled by their mother or friend than when they received no counseling. Conclusions Suicidal ideation/suicide attempts showed different associations for both sexes in accordance with the type of counselor. Even if counseling by specialists for issues such as achievement/career choice-related or family matters is needed, the risk of suicide could be reduced through counseling by the people around them. Therefore, adolescents should form mutually supportive relationships through active communication with surrounding people.

At a time when the pace of changes in all spheres of human life is increasing and the future is predicted only tentatively, young people have to be prepared for their future life on the basis of analytical and critical thinking. The paper presents an analysis of the main ideas underlying the concept of using the technology “Reading and writing for critical thinking” by teachers in order to form some components of the self- skills competencies in their pupils: self-determination, independence, and self-organization skills. Teachers can use open learning technologies, including the technology “Reading and writing for critical thinking”, to develop these skills in their students. The choice of this particular technology is facilitated by the use of the basic principles of this technology (cooperation, mutual responsibility, rejection of possessing the truth, active communication, reflection), as well as a wide range of strategies and specific methods presented in it. The article also analyses the possibilities of using the technology “Reading and writing for critical thinking” in a tutor’s work. The authors have made an attempt to correlate each technological stage with a certain stage of the tutor’s activity: creation of an open educational environment, implementation of educational navigation, and scaling. The article is devoted to the characteristics of the textual educational environment as a condition of self-skills formation in students within the framework of individual and group tutorials with the use of the technology “Reading and writing for critical thinking”: openness, variability, abundance, lack of structure, provocativeness.

Abstract Background Traditional and complementary medicine (T&CM) is commonly used in South Asian countries such as Nepal. There are various causes and contributing factors for patients with cancer to consider using T&CM. However, little is known about the use of T&CM among the cancer population in this region. Methods The study followed a cross-sectional design using a structured survey questionnaire. Survey participants were recruited from two National hospitals in Kathmandu, Nepal. The survey instrument comprised 30 questions, including variables on demographics, use of T&CM, and perceived level of disease severity, and cancer treatment. Chi-square test and logistic regression were used for data analysis using SPSS ver. 23.0. Results Of 908 participants, 31.6% used one or more modalities of T&CM after a cancer diagnosis. The most commonly used T&CM was Ayurveda, followed by Yoga. 46.1% of T&CM users discussed their use with their doctors. Education level, residential area, employment, cancer type and stage, and self-rated disease severity were strong predictors of T&CM use. Conclusion This study underlined that despite the widespread use of T&CM among cancer patients in Nepal, most patients obtained related information from informal sources and did not disclose their use to physicians. To ensure the safe use of T&CM modalities, physicians should integrate questions on T&CM use into routine patient assessments in order to facilitate active communication and improve the quality of care.
