Multilayer thin films of amorphous arsenic triselenide (As2Se3) were obtained by spin coating solution of an amine salt in amide on glass substrate.  The deposited multilayers in the range of 500 to 1000 nm were optically characterized by measuring the transmission spectra at room temperature.  All used samples were baked and annealed for different periods of times and temperatures.  The effect of layers number, baking times and temperatures on optical parameters were investigated.  The thickness of the prepared samples up to four layers was ranging between 0.1 µm to 0.2 µm.

Transparent thin film of pure TiO2and 3% Sr-doped TiO2(Ti0.97Sr0.03O2) were prepared by spin coating technique onto well-cleaned glass substrate. The dielectric behaviour of the films were studied at room temperature for different frequencies. The capacitance of both films were is found to decrease with increasing frequency and at higher frequencies capacitance becomes constant. AC conductivity is found to continuously increase with increase in the frequency. At high frequency it doesnt show any change and remains almost constant.

The photoconductivity of a nanocomposite MEH-PPV:TiO2 thin film is investigated. The nanocomposite MEH-PPV:TiO2 thin film was deposited on a glass substrate by spin coating technique. The composition of the TiO2 powder was varied from 5 wt% to 20 wt% (with 5 wt% interval). The concentration of the MEH-PPV is given by 1 mg/1 ml. The current voltage characteristics were measured in dark and under illumination. The photoconductivity showed increment in value as the composition of the TiO2 is raised in the polymer based solution. The absorption showed augmentation as the amount of TiO2 is increased. The escalation of the current voltage is then supported by the results of surface morphology.

Quartz crystal microbalances (QCM) are transducers for chemical and biochemical sensing. The oscillation frequency of QCM is affected by the adsorbed mass on the surface. In this work, a new room temperature type gas sensor device fabricated by organically hybridized plasma deposition of tetramethyltin (TMT) and oxygen. Post treatment with poly ethylene glycol (PEG) was developed to detect the ambient environmental smother, and the responses of the fabricated sensor to smother detection were investigated. SnO x C y thin films on the sensor electrodes were obtained by plasma deposition from TMT and O 2 gas mixtures at room temperature. A spin coating post treatment on the SnO x C y thin films turns into hydrophilic property. The response of the QCM sensor to the smother detection shows a frequency drop during the burning of candle and has good detection sensitivity with Δf equal to 2400 Hz. Repeated smother testing with the QCM type smother detection sensor also indicates the stability of the fabricated sensor.

The spectra of refractive index and absorption coefficient in thin films of Ge23.5Pb20S56.5 glassy system were calculated on the base of analysis of transmission spectra. The refractive index has values between 2.0 and 2.6 in the spectral range between 500 nm and 1200 nm. The existence of indirect allowed transitions with energy Eg = 1.70 ± 0.01 eV and phonon energy of wph= 0.11 eV at room temperature was found. For values of the absorption coefficient a < 103см –1 the fundamental absorption edge is described by exponential function known as Urbach-rule. The static structure disorder parameter wo, is equal to 0.06 eV.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin films deposited on quartz substrate by spin-coating method using titanium (IV) butoxide has been studied. The aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of annealing in oxygen ambient on the morphology and optical properties of thin films. The distinct variations in the morphology of the thin films were observed from atomic force microscope (AFM) images. The transmission spectra obtained from UV-VIS-NIR showed the TiO2thin films exhibited average transmittance value up to 80% in the visible region. Raman spectra of thin films annealed in O2shifted from 142 cm-1to 179 cm-1.
