Agoraphobia is related to demographic characteristics and social roles. To unravel behavioral aspects from demographic characteristics, daily life situations were registered with the Experience Sampling Method for 65 panic patients with and without agoraphobia. Surprisingly, panic patients with and without agoraphobia did not differ as hypothesized in reported frequencies of visits to public places. Panic subjects with agoraphobia did, however, spend significantly more time at home and with their families than did panic patients without agoraphobia and normal controls. When adjusted for demographic variables such as sex, marital status, family life, and employment, no significant differences between panic patients with and without agoraphobia emerged on the avoidance variables of remaining at home or being with a family member. The lack of discrimination of the diagnosis on these crucial behavioral variables highlights the influence of demographic characteristics and social roles on agoraphobia in daily life. Such findings challenge current diagnostic conceptualizations that rely on retrospective reports by patients of the avoidance of public places. Moreover, reliance on retrospective reports obscured the important role of significant others for understanding etiology and course.

In formulating improvements to integrated transportation planning for the Banda Aceh city which has been urbanizing speedily and has experienced considerable changes in growing economy and motorization, it is necessary to understand the factors that influence community choice of travel modes, one of which is the influence of the socio-demographic characteristics of the community. This is due to the importance of knowing the characteristics and behaviour of modal users in designing transportation facilities and infrastructure to be provided. In this study, association rules are used to analyse the influence of demographic characteristics on the choice of travel modes in the Banda Aceh city. The data used in this study came from survey data conducted by the Aceh Transportation Agency in 2019. After the data analysed through setting up association rules, it shows that role of socio-demographic variables on the choice of travel modes is quite significant in many aspects.

ABSTRACTThis article analyses the role of Otomí women in the transmission of language by carrying out activities of daily life. The focus is on two points. First, it is analyzed the importance of language within social life for the Otomí women and men; and second, to make visible the importance of women to keep the Otomí language alive. Through generations, the language for women has been a tool to have and conserve local knowledge that allows them to accomplish their female daily activities and fulfill their social roles. Local language is not only important for women to carry out specific daily female activities, but also by speaking it, women acquire respect. Women feel confident and find a space for privacy in the domestic sphere to speak their local language. Therefore, the domestic life for women represents an opportunity for them to conserve and develop their Otomí language.

Abstract"Home" may be understood as an intangible concept separate from its material manifestation—the tangible place where one dwells, the house. However, this is not necessarily the way people experience the two concepts of "home" and "house". In daily life, both the experience of the tangible and the intangible dimensions of "home" may be inextricably linked. To explore how lived religion and spirituality relate to these dimensions, we engaged practicing Buddhists and Christians in dialogue about the role of their home in the practice of their faiths. Three major topics emerged from the interview process: clutter, nature, and people. The overlapping but distinct perspectives on these topics that the two groups of participants offer illustrate common dialectics that characterize the experience of "home".

This article focuses on the impact of COVID-19 on smoking and smoking cessation behaviours and support for smoke-free zones in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A pre-tested structured survey was distributed by email in October–November 2020 to students and staff at the University of Jeddah. Responses were analysed using descriptive statistics with summative content analysis of open text. Participants providing open text comments (n = 374/666; 56.4%) were non-smokers (n = 293; 78.3%), former smokers (n = 26; 7.0%) and current smokers (n = 55; 14.7%). Some had household members (n = 220; 58.8%) and friends who smoke (n = 198; 52.9%) plus daily exposure to secondhand smoke at home (n = 125; 33.4%). There was an awareness during COVID-19 of: smoking inside cafes/restaurants and other indoor and outdoor public places; exposure to warnings in the media both against and promoting smoking; widespread support for smoke-free zones. Smokers plans for accessing smoking cessation support are inconsistent with retrospective reports. Many express positivity highlighting reductions in smoking but there were also negative reports of increased smoking. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected every aspect of society worldwide. People have been at home more with restricted freedom of movement and limitations on social liberty. These individual accounts can help to focus evidence-based smoking prevention and cessation programmes during and post-COVID-19.

A nationwide investigation into stress among teachers in the United Kingdom, found teachers to be reporting stress-related problems which were far higher than those of the population norms and other comparable occupational groups. Job stress can be influenced by personal factors (Matteson & Ivancevich, 1999). The present study examined the role of demographic variables as the moderator between organizational variables and job stress. A sample size of 177 teachers participated in this study revealed that teachers in Tawau and Lahad Datu experienced low stress levels. This study found that demographic variables do not serve as the moderator between organizational variables and job stress.

Objectives: Using Ecological Momentary Assessment methods (EMA) we aimed to investigate the influence of trait and state (momentary) impulsivity on alcohol use behaviors in daily life. Facets of the UPPS trait model of impulsivity (Whiteside and Lynam, 2001) have been found to differentially relate to alcohol-related outcomes and behaviors in cross-sectional and longitudinal studies. The present work expands on this by assessing UPPS facets in daily life and examining the contributions of trait and state impulsivity facets to daily life drinking behavior. Methods: 49 participants were prompted at least six times per day for 21 days. A total of 4,548 collected EMA reports were included in analyses. Multi-level models were computed predicting daily life alcohol use behaviors from state and trait impulsivity facets and relevant covariates. Results: Individual facets of momentary impulsivity differentially related to alcohol outcomes, such that (lack of) premeditation and, to a lesser extent, sensation seeking showed unique patterns of association with drinking and drinking quantity. Only trait levels of (lack of) premeditation were related to drinking behavior in daily life; no other trait UPPS scale significantly related to alcohol use. Conclusions: These results highlight state difficulties with premeditation as particularly relevant to drinking behavior in daily life. Our results also support the incremental validity of state impulsivity facets over trait level measures in relation to drinking behavior in daily life. These findings offer important insight into the phenomenology of daily-life alcohol use and highlight possible avenues for intervention and prevention efforts. Public Health Statement: Momentary fluctuations in premeditation predict alcohol use in daily life. Treatments targeting planning or forethought in relation to alcohol use may interrupt this process contributing to daily life drinking behaviors.
