Abstract This paper argues that there is an emergent digital culture in the art and cultural sector in Hanoi, which is producing a paradigm shift in the nature of work for cultural professionals, the way of preserving and displaying art collections, as well as the nature of international connections. The advent of the “fourth industrial revolution” in Vietnam has brought about advances in digitization. While this transition is crucial in achieving national sustainable development goals, Vietnam remains at a disadvantage on a global scale due to country-specific challenges in digitization that include lack of human, technical, and financial resources. These challenges are hindering the pace and quality of the digitization process and impeding the ability of cultural professionals to utilize digital platforms. In addition, the global digital divide is having impacts on access, inclusion, and representation. This shows that the challenges faced in the digitization process are not only about access to technology but also about much more deep-seated issues related to culture, history, and social inequalities. This is especially pertinent during the Covid-19 pandemic, which has highlighted inequalities in access and inclusion. The research draws on 20 semi-structured interviews with cultural professionals across Hanoi. The interviews were carried out during the Covid-19 pandemic and addressed its impact on digitization projects and the use of digital technologies for work. The findings show how geopolitical and socioeconomic factors can suppress the ability to adopt new digital technologies, which is hindering the ability to exploit the opportunities of digitization. Yet, the Covid-19 pandemic has allowed more time to focus on digitization projects and to utilize digital tools and platforms, especially with free open-source software or platforms such as Facebook. This has become one route toward exploiting the opportunities of digitization for increased exposure, creation of digital resources, and rebalancing the discourse and amount of content circulating online regarding Vietnamese art and culture.

Abstract The ability to publish and provide access to cultural resources via free, open source digital platforms is empowering Vietnamese cultural professionals to promote their culture to local and international audiences. Digitization projects now include the use of 3D, VR, and AR digital technologies for the purpose of being published on digital platforms. This is creating an emergent digital culture in Vietnam, with an increasing amount of available resources online. Digitization projects are now used to preserve cultural heritage as well as to present and promote contemporary art and culture. This reflects a change in practices amongst cultural professionals in Hanoi, in terms of how digital technologies are used and the value placed on making cultural resources publicly accessible online. However, as new content, knowledge, and voices are able to participate in the online discourse on art and culture, the question remains as to whether this digital transition is creating greater equality and inclusion in the cultural sector or if it is exacerbating already existing forms of digital cultural colonialism. This paper presents findings from 50 interviews with cultural professionals working in the cultural sector in Hanoi about their digitization projects and digital work practices, the developments in digitization in Hanoi’s cultural sector over the past five years, how cultural professionals are utilizing the opportunities afforded by digital technologies for cultural preservation and promotion, as well as the challenges they face in carrying out digitization projects.

This paper focuses on how remote workers experienced their job and everyday life during the Italian lockdown imposed by the national government to contain the spread of COVID-19. Specifically, this contribution focuses on the interdependence of work and everyday life, and the role of digital devices and online platforms during the home-confinement period, and it explores the consequences of social distancing measures on remote workers and on their working and personal conditions. The study draws from 20 in-depth semi-structured interviews with remote workers, i.e., individuals which could work from home through digital technologies during the national lockdown. Results highlight that during the lockdown, some participants attempted to cope with the unprecedented triumph of technologically mediated work, others described remote work as liberating and attractive, as it avoids commuting and allow people to organize their activities autonomously, without constraints of space and time. However, their initial enthusiasm decreased after a few weeks of domestic confinement. The experience of remote workers that emerges is a “fractured” one, which appears as a characteristic feature of forced and continuous remote work. Indeed, the coronavirus crisis has accentuated the infrastructural role of digital platforms and intensified the ‘deep mediatization’ of social life and labour, thereby normalizing transmedia work and the ‘extension of already media saturated working conditions’.

We have a diverse set of descriptions referred to as the “fourth industrial revolution”, Industry 4.0, or the “digital” or “new economy”, indicating that there is a seismic shift under way. Due to digital transformation arising from the combined effect of several digital technologies including IoT, 5G, cloud, blockchain, big data and artificial intelligence, companies today are being transformed, and for many, this transformation comes in ways that they have not experienced before. This may mean that firms entering new markets with digital technologies may be less dependent on mediators and be able to control the delivery of their products or services, while new entrants are likely to gain advantages from exploiting digital platforms. The chapter lays out how the classic principles of international competitive strategy are transformed in today’s markets due to digitalization and provides suggestions in terms of how firms, and particularly multinational enterprises (MNEs), can respond to these transformations.

The article is devoted to the process of digitalization taking place in Russia in the context of the industrial revolution 4.0. The purpose of the article is to consider the process of introducing digital technologies as drivers of the reorganization of the entire way of life of Russian society, the disclosure of the concept of “digital totalitarianism". The process of digitalization affected not only all spheres of the economy, but also significantly affected the development of social institutions and the individual as a participant in this process. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to perform the following tasks: to determine the process of digitalization, to study state projects for digitalization in Russia – “Digital Economy of Russia until 2024”, “Education 2030”, to study the degree of involvement of Russian consumer and business communities in the use of digital platforms; to determine the consequences of the inevitable digital revolution, and what is the role of the state in them. The object of the study is the process of digitalization of the economy and its impact on human activity. The subject of the research is the specific features of the digitalization process that determine the future prospects of interaction between humans and artificial intelligence (neural networks and cybersystems). The hypothesis of the study: total digital transformation in Russia is the only possible scenario for the development and formation of a completely ” new “state based on the” digital economy”, ensuring competitiveness in the global market and improving all spheres of Russian life. The article examines the data on the current level of development of digital technologies in Russia and in the world, identifies the main trends and the most important problems of the development and impact of digital technologies on people.

Advantages and disadvantages of the use of digital technologies (DT) in mathematics lessons are worldwidedissussed controversially. Many empirical studies show the benefitof the use of DT in classrooms. However, despite of inspiringresults, classroom suggestions, lesson plans and research reports,the use of DT has not succeeded, as many had expected during thelast decades. One reason is or might be that we have not been ableto convince teachers and lecturers at universities of the benefit ofDT in the classrooms in a sufficient way. However, to show thisbenefit has to be a crucial goal in teacher education because it willbe a condition for preparing teachers for industrial revolution 4.0.In the following we suggest a competence model, which classifies– for a special content (like function, equation or derivative) –the relation between levels of understanding (of the concept),representations of DT and different kind of classroom activities.The flesxible use of digital technologies will be seen in relationto this competence model, results of empirical investigations willbe intergrated and examples of the use of technologies in the upcoming digital age will be given.

Public libraries play a crucial role in the information and knowledge society. Their access and services in the fourth industrial revolution require review as well as the knowledge of the competency requirements for Library and Information Science (LIS) graduates to offer professional services. This paper presents the competencies LIS graduates require for work. It also seeks to examine the challenges they encounter in public libraries. The study is driven by the notion that a skills gap and a lack of training for LIS professionals are still daunting challenges in most public libraries. The post-positivism paradigm was employed through the triangulation of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies in data collection and analysis. Content analysis and a survey were employed as research methods. The study scanned job advertisements in four newspapers spanning a three-year period (from January 2015 to December 2017). Semi-structured interviews were conducted with assistant directors and structured questionnaires were administered to LIS graduates. Grade 12, one to three years of work experience, computer literacy and communication skills are the most required competencies to work at public libraries. There seems to be no balance between theory and practice offered in most LIS schools, which suggests the need for curricula revision. Employed LIS graduates are facing several challenges, which include lack of practical exposure or knowledge, lack of qualification recognition and individual promotions, and lack of ICT skills and knowledge.

We are witnessing how new technologies are radically changing the design of organizations, the way in which they produce and manage both their objectives and their strategies, and -above all- how digital transformation impacts the people who are part of it. Even today in our country, many organizations think that digitalizing is having a presence on social networks, a web page or venturing into cases of success in corporate social intranet. Others begin to invest a large part of their budget in training their teams and adapting them to the digital age. But given this current scenario, do we know exactly what the digital transformation of organizations means? It is necessary? Implying? Is there a roadmap to follow that leads to the success of this process? How are organizations that have been born 100% digital from their business conception to the way of producing services through the use of platforms? What role does the organizational culture play in this scenario? The challenge of the digital transformation of businesses and organizations, which is part of the paradigm of the industrial revolution 4.0, is happening here and now in all types of organizations, whether are they private, public or third sector. The challenge to take into account in this process is to identify the digital competences that each worker must face in order to accompany these changes and not be left out of it. In this sense, the present work seeks to analyze the main characteristics of the current technological advances that make up the digital transformation of organizations and how they must be accompanied by a digital culture and skills that allow their successful development. In order to approach this project, we will carry out an exploratory research, collecting data from the sector of new actors in the world of work such as employment platforms in its various areas (gastronomy, delivery, transportation, recreation, domestic service, etc) and an analysis of the main technological changes that impact on the digital transformation of organizations in Argentina.

The new industrial revolution Industry 4.0, connecting manufacturing process with digital technologies that can communicate, analyze, and use information for intelligent decision making includes Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) to help manufactures and consumers for efficient controlling and monitoring. This work presents the design and implementation of an IIoT ecosystem for smart factories. The design is based on Siemens Simatic IoT2040, an intelligent industrial gateway that is connected to modbus sensors publishing data onto Network Platform for Internet of Everything (NETPIE). The design demonstrates the capabilities of Simatic IoT2040 by taking Python, Node-Red, and Mosca into account that works simultaneously on the device.

The article discusses the main directions and forms of adaptation of agricultural production experience to integration into digital platforms for the functioning of the agricultural sector. The informational and statistical basis of the study is determined; a circle of modern research centers that deal with the use of digital technologies in the agricultural sector is outlined; the technologies used in the agricultural sector are classified based on the cliometric approach, that demonstrated by analyzing the yield of grain crops in Russia from 1850 to 2019. Digital platforms for the functioning of the agro-industrial complex are highlighted, allowing to implement areas and forms of adaptation of agricultural production experience to integration into them. Concrete recommendations are given on the use of digital technologies in the field of agricultural production from the standpoint of increasing the competitiveness of agro-food products.

The young generation has a very important role as the nation's next generation, so it needs special attention to make them strong and independent figures. The young age phase is also a determining gate for the future after completing education (United Nation, 2013). Unfortunately, in Indonesia the number of young unemployed reaches 22.48% (Central Bureau of Statistics, 2018). Under these conditions, one of the efforts that can be done to reduce the unemployment rate is through an entrepreneurial program (Fatoki, 2014). This is a challenge for all parties because Rahmatiah et al (2019) states that currently the young generation of Indonesia is still difficult to become entrepreneurs. Moreover, competition in the 4.0 industrial revolution era is getting tougher. For entrepreneurs in rural areas, the challenges faced are greater than those who live in urban areas (Azzahra & Dhewanto, 2017), however by utilizing digital technology and becoming digital entrepreneurs, rural residents are able to compete, minimize social inequalities and accelerate economic growth (Ratten, 2018 ). Only a few young people have the talent and interest to run a business (Ceptureanu & Ceptueanu, 2015). Therefore an in-depth study of the interests and entrepreneurial processes for rural youth to become a digital entrepreneur is needed. This research was conducted in order to have young digital entrepreneurs who came from rural areas to be able to compete in this 4.0 industry era. Thus, the research questions in this study are: (1). Why does rural youth want to be a digital entrepreneur? How is the entrepreneurial process of rural youth to become digital entrepreneurs?
