The availability and use of e-learning resources in the acquisition and transfer of knowledge have been observed as a steering agent that facilitates the realization of major educational benefits in a developing economy. This study investigated the availability, accessibility, and use of e-learning tools by undergraduate students in the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, including the challenges limiting the full exploitation of e-learning resources for optimal usage and efficient e-service delivery. The methodology adopted for this research was purely survey design using the questionnaire approach as the main instrument for data collection. From the findings, limited availability, accessibility and usage of e-learning resources by the undergraduate students were revealed. The findings further showed that the major challenges hindering the effective use of e-learning resources amongst University of Ilorin students include lack of sophisticated e-learning resources such as teleconferencing, video conferencing, virtual classroom among others and high cost in the procurement of facilities that support e-learning. Based on these findings, recommendations are made towards addressing the challenges encountered by students in the utilization of e-learning resources in higher institutions of learning.

Since the advent of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), teaching and learning have somewhat taken a paradigm shift. It is, thus, imperative for teachers in all disciplines to appreciate the essence of integrating ICTs in teaching and learning. In this regard, this study sought to explore Basic School Ghanaian Language teachers’ perceptions of ICT integration in Ghanaian language teaching. The study employed a descriptive survey design. Stratified random sampling was used to obtain data from 205 teachers in the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo region of Ghana. Analysis of data collected through a self-developed questionnaire reveals that Ghanaian language teachers exhibit a positive perception of ICT integration in education. However, in practice, they tend to integrate ICT in their instruction on occasional basis. Also, it was revealed that a lack of financial support for ICT resources and lack of in-service training on ICT use were factors that militated against ICT integration in Ghanaian language teaching. Finally, the study revealed a statistically significant difference between degree holders and diploma holders’ perception of ICT integration in teaching and learning Ghanaian language.

The thrust of this study is to examine the effects of e-learning on the transformative education of Cooperative Members. The descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. Multistage random sampling technique was used to select 300 respondents consisting of 75 Cooperative Leaders and 225 members. A well-structured questionnaire was validated and used to collect relevant data which was analysed using descriptive statistics (the mean and standard deviation). Findings indicate that very few e-learning facilities are available in cooperatives even at secondary and apex levels in the area studied; hence the adoption of e-learning is poor. However, the study revealed that the few e-learning facilities adopted have good effect on the transformative education of the cooperative members. The study also found out that the adoption of e-learning has lots of challenges, including high cost of imported equipment and e-learning facilities; insufficient E-learning infrastructure, inadequate time to develop and implement ICT-using activities, lack of digital learning resources, among others. The study, therefore recommends that specialty training should be given to cooperative leaders to make them keep abreast of the trends in e-learning and they should source for more funds for the improvement of e-learning infrastructure.

This quantitative study analyzed the perceptions of students on teaching effectiveness in private higher education institutions in Botswana. An exploratory and descriptive survey research design was adopted in this study. A valid and reliable questionnaire was used to collect data through a survey of 560 stratified randomly sampled students in private higher education institutions in Botswana. A One sample t-test and an Independent t-test were used for data analysis. A significant high level of teaching effectiveness was determined. Several items measuring teaching effectiveness contributed significantly negative to teaching effectiveness and therefore, it was recommended that lecturers should use strategies to improve on those areas of teaching to enhance their teaching. No difference in teaching effectiveness was determined with respect to age, gender and nationality of the students. However, there was a significant difference in the students’ perceptions on teaching effectiveness between the university and the non- university institutions and, lecturers were found to be more effective in their teaching at the universities as compared to the lecturers in the non -university institutions. Therefore, a further study exploring the factors contributing to such differences is recommended to improve the quality of teaching in the non- university type of private higher education institutions in Botswana.
