AbstractThis paper aims at investigating the relationship between knowledge sharing activities and innovation capability at both individual and organizational levels. By reviewing extensive literature, a conceptual framework is built with integrating three factors: knowledge sharing, individual innovation capability and firm innovation capability. This study applies structural equation modeling (SEM) to analyze the data collected from 392 employees working at major Vietnam’s telecommunication companies. Empirical results show that knowledge sharing including knowledge donating, knowledge collecting play an important role in improving individual innovation capability. There is no direct link between knowledge collecting and organizational innovation capability, while knowledge donating has direct positive impact on product and managerial innovation. Furthermore, the individual innovation capability acts as a mediating variable between knowledge sharing practices and firm innovation capability. Implications for academics and practitioners are provided in this study.

This paper explored the link between dynamic capabilities, innovation capabilities, and competitive advantage of telecommunication companies in Ghana, considering a mediation interaction. Data were obtained from two hundred and fifty (250) employees from selected telecommunication companies in the Accra metropolis through simple random probability sampling. However, two hundred and forty-two (242) responses were deemed accurate and used in the analysis. Partial Least Squares (PLS) based on Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was employed in the analysis. From the findings, this study’s data met internal consistency reliability, convergent, and discriminant validity. Dynamic capabilities had a positive and significant impact on innovation capability and competitive advantage. Also, dynamic capabilities through innovation capability positively impacted competitive advantage and were statistically significant. Based on the findings, it’s recommended that organizations and managers consider both exploitation and exploration competencies in product development as both competencies influence various aspects of an organization’s competitive advantage, as this will help ensure organizations’ sustainable performance and thus remain competitive.

Information technology has become an increasingly powerful driving force in modern agriculture. In particular, its application is important for the sustainable development of the apple industry. However, to promote technology application effectively, a better understanding of the behavioral intention of apple farmers towards such information technology is needed. This study uses micro data from 226 Chinese apple growers and applies the theory of planned behavior. The factors influencing apple farmers’ intention to choose information technology, along with factors influencing the transformation of that intention into actual behavior, are investigated through structural equation modeling. The results show that farmers’ information technology attitudes and perceived behavioral control have a significant positive impact on their intention to choose information technology, and that intention has a significant positive impact on behavioral response. Additionally, both tacit and explicit knowledge sharing have a positive moderating effect on transforming the intention to choose information technology into actual behavior, and the higher the degree of knowledge sharing, the stronger its moderating effect. The results imply that to achieve industry sustainability, the government needs to improve its guidance and incentives for agricultural technology, as well as support the development of a strong knowledge-sharing system specifically for agricultural information technology.

This study aims to investigate the impact of innovation capability on cross-channel capability and the effect of cross-channel capability on firm performance of an organization. On the base of literature review, this study suggests a research hypothesis model, and uses quantitative research method to examine. Research data is collected from 201 Vietnamese retail enterprises. The Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) by Smart-PLS is used for data analysis. The research result indicates that there is a significant and positive impact of innovation capability on cross-channel capability. Besides that, the finding shows that cross-channel capability plays an important role in improving firm performance. Based on the findings, some recommendations are suggested to enhance firm performance by generating cross-channel capability and innovation capability of Vietnamese retailers.

Purpose This study aims to combine the theory of planned behave or (TPB) and the motivational framework to extend the research on online knowledge sharing (OKS) in an organization by exploring the factors that drive the knowledge sharing intentions (KSI) of posters and lurkers. Design/methodology/approach A field survey with 501 employees in Vietnamese telecommunication companies is used to collect the data and a structural equation modeling approach with AMOS 25.0 is used to test all the hypotheses. Findings Attitudes toward OKS and subjective norms influence online KSI for both posters and lurkers. Self-enjoyment has a stronger effect on the attitudes toward OKS for posters than lurkers. Self-efficacy, reciprocity and rewards only affect posters and not lurkers. Research limitations/implications This study uses self-efficacy and self-enjoyment to represent intrinsic motivation and reciprocity and rewards for extrinsic motivation. Future research may use additional motivational factors to provide additional insights. Practical implications Managers should pay greater attention to subjective norms and attitudes toward knowledge sharing to motivate all the employees to share knowledge with each other to improve organizational performance. Originality/value This is the first study to combine TPB with the motivational framework to explore the factors that drive online knowledge sharing in an organization.

Purpose It is commonly known that intellectual capital (IC) plays a remarkable role in organizations, especially in colleges and academic centers. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of knowledge sharing (KS) on IC. Design/methodology/approach Based on the extensive literature review, a questionnaire was designed. The questions were composed of two parts; KS questions and IC questions. In total, 352 students completed questionnaires in the Shahinshahr branch of Payam-e-Noor University. Structural equation modeling was used to develop the measurement model. Findings The findings showed that KS has a significant positive correlation with IC and its dimensions. The structural equation modeling confirmed the research model and showed a good match with it. Originality/value Given that this study aimed to examine KS and IC, it implies that with optimized knowledge management in universities, providing the infrastructures of KS and strengthening students’ motivational factors, KS capacities can be enhanced and IC of universities would be strengthened.

PurposeThe study aims to explore the differences in transformational leadership’s (TL’s) influences on each aspect of innovation capability, namely, product innovation and process innovation. It also deepens understanding of the pathways and conditions to improve specific aspects of innovation capability by assessing the mediating role of knowledge sharing (KS) and moderating mechanism of perceived organizational support (POS).Design/methodology/approachThe paper utilized structural equation modeling and cross-sectional design to test hypotheses in the proposed research model based on using data collected from 394 participants at 88 Chinese firms.FindingsThe findings indicate that KS mediates TL’s effects on innovation capabilities. In addition, the influences of TL and KS on specific aspects of innovation capability are different and depend on the extent of employees’ POS.Research limitations/implicationsFuture studies should test mediating roles of knowledge management’s constituents and/or investigate the moderating roles of firm ownership form to increase the understanding of potential factors or key conditions that may have significant influences on a firm’s innovation capability.Practical implicationsThe paper significantly contributes to increasing the understanding of the link between TL and specific aspects of innovation capability by highlighting the important role of stimulating KS and enhancing POS.Originality/valueThe paper provides useful information and valuable initiatives to increase leadership outcomes and firm’s capability for innovation.


The purpose of this paper is to examine the effects of transformational leadership and knowledge sharing on innovation capability in term of individual and organizational innovation capability. This study used Structural equation modelling (SEM) to check proposal hypotheses using empirical data collected from 216 participants at 45 small and medium enterprises in Laos. The research findings revealed that knowledge sharing mediates the relationship between transformational leadership and innovation capabilities. Notably, the findings highlight the greater influence of TL on organizational innovation capability in comparison with its effect on individual innovation capability. In contrasts, knowledge sharing activities induce greater influence on individual innovation capability compared with its effect on organizational innovation capability. The paper has, therefore, significantly advanced our insights of how transformational leaders foster employee knowledge sharing activities for stimulating innovation capabilities of organizations. This research proposed and investigated a mediated moderation research framework that links employee job satisfaction, knowledge sharing, innovation capability, and job performance for sustainable human resource management in hospitality. Data from 395 Taiwanese hospitality companies with structural equation modeling (SEM) analyses, and the results showed that job satisfaction had significantly positive influences on knowledge sharing, both job satisfaction and knowledge sharing were significantly and positively related to innovation capability, while innovation capability had significantly positive influences on job performance. Support was also found for the significant and positive mediating effects of knowledge sharing between job satisfaction and innovation capability, and different organizational forms have moderating effects on the relationship between job satisfaction, knowledge sharing and innovation capability. The implications of these findings for sustainable human resource management in hospitality are also discussed.

Driven by the trend of global economic integration, informationlization and networking, the era of open innovation has arrived. Relationship network has become a new research approach of probing into the enterprises’ innovation, but the results are various. This research draws 114 samples from high-tech enterprises, utilizing structural equation modeling, aiming to explore the relationship among network embeddedness structure, knowledge sharing and innovation performance. Research results show that: (1) Enterprises’ relational embeddedness and structural embeddedness have a significant positive impact on innovation performance; (2) Knowledge sharing is the mediating variable in the path of network embeddedness structure on innovation performance. Hoping these results can enrich related theory, and also provide some practicing guidance for enterprises establishing relationship networks to improve innovation performance.

PurposeCircular economy is emerging as a new sustainability paradigm. Similarly, eco-innovation is being recognized as one of the most important mechanisms that allow the transition from a linear to a circular economy in production processes, as there is a strong relationship between eco-innovation (eco-innovation of products, processes and management) and circular economy activities. However, the relationship between eco-innovation and circular economy is an issue that has been isolated and little analyzed in the academic literature. Therefore, this research fills this gap by exploring the interdependence between eco-innovation and circular economy.Design/methodology/approachThe research is conducted through an extensive literature review from where a research framework consisting of two measurement scales, 18 items and three hypotheses were developed. A self-administered questionnaire was distributed and 460 responses were obtained from companies in the automotive and auto parts industry in Mexico. The data obtained were analyzed through confirmatory factor analysis, descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling.FindingsThe results suggest that eco-innovation of products, process and management has a significant positive impact on the circular economy of companies in the automotive and auto parts industry.Practical implicationsThe findings of this research can inform managers in the automotive sector and policymakers when formulating and deploying environmentally sustainable strategies.Originality/valueThis paper fills a research gap by expanding the limited body of knowledge that relates eco-innovation and circular economy and providing some evidence of their relationship. The research also allows the unique characteristics of eco-innovation and the circular economy to be understood within a particular context, growing in this manner the body of knowledge on this field.
