Abstract Since the arrival of the Internet and its tools, computer technology has become of considerable significance to both teachers and students, and it is an obvious resource for foreign language teaching and learning. The paper presents the results of a study which aimed to determine the effect of the application of Internet resources on the development of learner autonomy as well as the impact of greater learner independence on attainment in English as a foreign language. The participants were 46 Polish senior high school students divided into the experimental group (N = 28) and the control (N = 18) group. The students in the experimental group were subjected to innovative instruction with the use of the Internet and the learners in the control group were taught in a traditional way with the help of the coursebook. The data were obtained by means questionnaires, interviews, learners’ logs, an Internet forum, observations as well as language tests, and they were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results show that the experimental students manifested greater independence after the intervention and they also outperformed the controls on language tests.

This paper investigates the efficiency of text messaging as an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instructional tool to enhance learner autonomy and perception at the Islamic Azad University-South Tehran Branch, Iran. The study considers seventy-four learners to participate in the study after the administration of an Oxford Placement Test to measure their proficiency level. Participants are randomly assigned in experimental and control groups, including 37 participants each. A questionnaire is used as a pretest and posttest to measure learners` autonomy. Participants from the experimental group use text messaging (the treatment) to receive instructions, whereas those from the control group receive traditional classroom instructions in a face-to-face channel. A semi-structured interview is also used to collect date on experimental group participants` perception in using MALL in classrooms. The results reveal remarkable differences between the experimental and control groups’ means on their learner autonomy scores. However, the impact of the independent samples t-test has shown that there is no statistically meaningful gender difference among the learners regarding their autonomy scores. The findings based on the semi-structured interview showed complimentary views on MALL. The current study is beneficial since its outcomes could be relevant for EFL curriculum developers and English language teachers in the use of mobile learning and text messaging in the English classroom.

<p>Mathematics is important and applies to science, technology, society or the natural sciences. It is applied directly or indirectly. Most students find this to be a very stimulating, complex, and well-understood subject. Maths in high school is extremely important. The study was designed to investigate the impact of students' mathematical representation skills and their attitudes towards GeoGebra. This study was quasi-experimental and carried out on high school students. We have two groups belonging to the same standard class. The control group consisted of 22 students, while the experimental group consisted of 28 participants. The conventional approach was used to teach certain concepts of plane geometry to the students in the control group. On the other hand, the experimental group taught similar teachings using GeoGebra. The results show that students have more skills in mathematical representation using GeoGebra. The semi-empirical test also showed a significant change in students' attitudes between the pre-test and the post-test. Although the pedagogical value of portfolio assessment is widely investigated, its impact on students’ engagement is still under-explored. Accordingly, this study intended to examine the impact of portfolio assessment on the Moroccan EFL students’ writing engagement. To this end, two groups of high school students were involved in the study. The two groups were randomly assigned into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received the treatment; portfolio assessment accompanied with various reflection and assessment techniques (i.e. self-and peer-assessment and teacher-student conferences) whereas the control group followed the regular summative writing achievement tests. To enrich the data, the experimental group students’ views about portfolio assessment were elicited via students’ written reflections. The analysis of the quantitative data showed that the experimental group students achieved a higher and more significant level of writing engagement than the control group students. Furthermore, the analysis of the qualitative data revealed that the students positively perceived portfolio assessment to impact their writing engagement at various levels.

This research has objective to investigate students’ listening comprehension through the use of podcast in EFL classroom. 60 high school students in Indonesia were taken as sample for this research with distribution of 30 students in experiment class and 30 students in control class. The samples were taken by using cluster random sampling. Quasi-experimental method with the post-test only control group design was applied in this research. In addition, a survey questionnaire was administered to experimental group to explore their perception on the use of podcast instruction in teaching listening. Findings revealed that there is a significant difference of post-test score between two groups, favoring experimental group. Data analysis using one way ANOVA showed significance value (sig. 0.010) is lower than &lt; 0.05 which interpreted that Podcast has significant impact on students’ listening comprehension. Additionally, the result of questionnaire indicated that students have positive attitude toward the use of podcast in listening classroom. Students perceived that podcasts provided authentic materials, interesting activities including listening exercises and meaningful tasks for them so they felt more motivated to learn English. This study recommended that teacher may utilize podcast in teaching listening considering its effectiveness as technology based learning tool.

The purpose of this study is to explore the influence of introduction of the physical computing strategy of Arduino Boards in a program design course on coding literacy and the effectiveness of the application in technical high school students. This study selected two classes of twelfth-grade students enrolled in a program design course at a technical high school in Southern Taiwan as the samples. One class was the control group (43 students), and the other was the experimental group (42 students). During the 18-week course, the control group carried out a DBL (design-based learning) programming project, and the experimental group carried out the DBL programming project using the physical computing strategy of Arduino boards. Pre- and posttests and a questionnaire survey were carried out, while ANCOVA (analysis of covariance) was used for evaluation purposes. In the course, students in the experimental group were randomly selected for semi-structured interviews to understand their learning status and to perform qualitative analysis and summarization. This study proposed the physical computing strategy of Arduino boards, featuring staged teaching content, practical teaching activities, and real themes and problem-solving tasks. The results show that the coding literacy of students in the different teaching strategy groups was significantly improved. However, in the Arduino course on DBL programming, the students in the experimental group had a significantly higher learning efficiency in coding literacy than those in the control group. Moreover, according to the qualitative analysis using student interviews, Arduino boards were found to improve students’ motivation to learn coding and to aid in systematically guiding students toward improving their coding literacy by combining their learning with DBL theory. Thus, Arduino technology can be effectively used to improve students’ programming abilities and their operational thinking in practically applying programming theories.

The Basic English Speech Support is audio with transcription which is composed of the features of pronunciation that is purposely compiled to enhance pronunciation skills specifically, the sounds of English, stress, intonation, and linking. It is applied within the study with the aim of measuring its effectiveness to the pronunciation skills of Senior High School students. The study is designed to evaluate, validate and determine the effectiveness of Basic English Speech Support to the Senior High School, Grade 12, Accountancy, Business and Management students in Libertad National High School. English-teacher Evaluators evaluated the audio and its transcription. The design involved the experimental group and the control group which were carefully selected through the randomization process. The data gathered were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential tools such as mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The results revealed that students from the experimental group got a higher mean gain compared to the control group. It was factually and statistically confirmed that the utilization of Basic English Speech Support served as a significant element in teaching pronunciation and evidently, advances better learning among Senior High School students.

The aim of the research is to investigate the effect of idea gardens on the performance and information processing skills of high school students in mathematics. The research community represents the school's first graders, July 14th for girls. The research sample consisted of (70) male and female students. The number of students in the experimental group was (35) and the number of students in the control group was (35). The researcher found a relationship between the two in variables of IQ test, previous collection and life expectancy, measured in months, in information processing skills of the tribes. The researcher has prepared a collection of tests with (20) paragraphs. After being presented to a group of judges, the validity of the test was verified. The researcher also developed an information processing measure consisting of (20) paragraphs and extracted the obvious honesty by presenting it to a group of reviewers and extracting it in the form way to repeat the test (0.87). The researcher has achieved the following results: 1- There were statistically significant differences in favor of the experimental group, which studied the gardens of ideas, compared with the control group, which studied the conventional collection method. 2- There are statistically significant differences in favor of the experimental group studied using idea gardens versus members of the control group studied using conventional information processing Keywords: Gardens of Ideas, Collection, Mathematics

The purpose of this research is to improve physical fitness which is one of the goals of physical education in Indonesia while also improving the nutritional status of Surabaya vocational high school students. This research uses the treatment of physical activity 3 times a week in 2 months as a task in physical education to improve physical fitness and nutrional status on the sample of this research. Research design uses quasi experimental design with metode non-randomized control group pretest-posttest design. Research data was obtained as follows: data processing result on experiment group show that physical activity to VO2max got significant score based calculating using SPSS of 0,00 and physical activity to nutrional status got sig. of 0,60. Whereas in the control group, physical actifity got sig. of 0.20 to VO2max and sig. to 0.11 on nutrional status. Based on the above analysis it can be concluded that physical activity has a significant effect on physical fitness but physical activity has no significant effect on nutrional status to Surabaya vocational high school students.

This study aimed to investigate the impact of a brain-based learning training programme on improving the spatial abilities of a sample of ninth grade elementary school students in Karak Province, Jordan. The study approach is quasi-experimental, the research sample consisted of 60 students selected by the intentional method. After being divided into two groups, 30 students were in the control group and 30 students were in the experimental group. To achieve the objectives of the study, a training programme based on brain-based learning was developed. Seven tests which consisted of spatial perception, spatial visualisation, and spatial orientation were used to measure spatial capacity and its components. The results showed that the training programme improved spatial ability and its three components in the experimental group compared to the control group.   Received: 29 March 2021 / Accepted: 5 July 2021 / Published: 5 September 2021

Introduction. This article considers the problem of the formation of a secondary linguistic personality through work with precedent phenomena of culture, but it does not cover all its aspects. Our purpose is to describe a model of formation of a secondary linguistic personality by dealing with the precedent phenomena of culture during Russian language lessons as a foreign language. Materials and Methods. Pedagogical forecasting and modeling were used to optimize and detail the process of the formation of a secondary linguistic personality through work with precedent cultural phenomena. To determine the quantitative and qualitative indicators of the study, statistical methods of quantitative and qualitative data processing were used (Student’s t-test). The pedagogical experiment involved schoolchildren of two secondary schools of Kryvyi Rih city (Ukraine). The sample consisted of 82 fifth-grade high school students. At the ascertaining stage, the questionnaire was conducted; at the formative stage, training was conducted typically in the control group; in the experimental group, based on the developed model; at the control stage, repeated questioning and interviews were conducted to verify the effectiveness of the model. Results. The use of the model in the learning process forms not only theoretical knowledge of the precedent phenomena of culture but also the practical skill of their use, facilitates intercultural communication, which contributes to the formation of a secondary language personality. The developed model of working with precedent cultural phenomena proved to be an effective auxiliary tool in the formation of the secondary linguistic personality. Precedent cultural phenomena can become the foundation for creating end-to-end curricula, a tool for creating didactic material taking into account innovative technologies, and the basis of training courses. Discussion and Conclusion. The results of this research work may be useful for secondary and higher school teaching staff of Russian as a foreign language.
