Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan adanya relevansi secara tekstualitas antara konten agama sebagai isu atau tematik komoditas dengan konten film biopik yang menjadi obyek material maupun untuk mengetahui dan mengungkapkan relevansi teks-teks berbasis konsepsi teks agama dalam film biopik sebagai bagian dari tipe-tipe komodifikasi agama di tren genre film Indonesia. Melalui film Sang Pencerah, bagaimana konsepsi agama yang dikembangkan oleh KH Ahmad Dahlan keluar dari konsepsi Islam puritan dalam menjalankan Dakwah Islamiyah. Pembaharuan yang dilakukan oleh KH Ahmad Dahlan melalui dekonstruksi terhadap konsepsi puritanisime terlihat dari teks-teks film yang menghadirkan KH Ahmad Dahlan mengkoreksi posisi sholat secara radikal kearah 14 derajat, dakwah melalui musik biola, menggunakan baju dengan model masyarakat eropa, berjualan batik dan melarang sesajen. Bahkan konsekuensinya, KH Ahmad Dahlan dimusuhi oleh sesama kiai atau ulama dan mushola yang didirikannya sempat dibakar. Konten cerita yang bersinggungan dengan sejarah KH Ahmad Dahlan dan keyakinanya dengan konsepsi agama dan identitas menjadi teks-teks konten yang menarik menjadi komoditas film. Sejarah KH Ahmad Dahlan dengan konsepsi perjuangan agamanya dikomodifikasi oleh para sineas, baik sutradara, penulis naskah, maupun produser, menjadi barang tontonan yang kemudian dijual kepada penonton. Aspek ekonomi menjadi lebih utama dibandingkan dengan alasan-alasan ideologi agama. Konten-konten ini menarik dari sisi cerita sebuah film. Karena film adalah industri hiburan yang menarik penonton, maka konten film juga sangat menentukan. Konsepsi agama kembali menjadi basis praktik komodifikasi. This study aims to prove the textual relevance between religious content as an issue or thematic commodity with biopic film content that becomes material object or to know and express the relevance of texts based on the conception of religious texts in biopic film as part of the types of religious commodification in trend of Indonesian film genre. Through a film entitled Sang Pencerah, how the religion conception developed by KH Ahmad Dahlan by way out of puritan Islamic conception in conductthe islamic values. KH Ahmad Dahlan renewed through the deconstruction of puritanism conception seen in the text of the film that presents KH Ahmad Dahlan which corrects the position of prayers radically to 14 degrees, dakwah through violin music, using clothes with european models, selling batik and banning offerings.As a consequence, KH Ahmad Dahlan was enraged by his fellow Islamic religious leaders and the mosque he founded was burned. The contents of the story that intersect with the history of KH Ahmad Dahlan and his beliefs with the conception of religion and identity become an interesting text to be used as filmcommodity. The history of KH Ahmad Dahlan with the conception of his religious struggle commodified by the filmmakers, both directors, writers, and producers, a spectacle that is then sold to the audience. The economic aspect becomes more important than the reasons for religious ideology. These contents are interesting from the side of the moviestory, because the movie is an entertainment industry that attracts viewers, then the movie content is also very decisive. Religion conception is again the basis of commodification practice.

There is a long history of menstrual restrictions, stigmas and taboos across nearly all religions, regions and cultures. The origins of myths and misconceptions have often been linked to various religious texts and women were prohibited from participating in normal life while menstruating. Culturally, in many parts of the world, menstruation is still considered ‘dirty’ and ‘impure’, although this is not true. Menstruation is often associated with feelings of shame, horror, danger, disgust, and sin. There have been initiatives to change the perception that menstruating women are not polluted, thus bringing an end to traditional customs such as not being allowed to sleep in their own home or touch male relatives to more extreme forms of isolation such as being confined to the ‘cow shed’. This paper draws on research conducted between 2019 and 2021 under a British Academy-funded Global Challenge Research Fund project entitled ‘Dignity Without Danger’. The study employed qualitative methods, covering 160 qualitative interviews and 16 focus group discussions among different caste and ethnic groups in three different ecological areas (mountain, hill, and tarai) in seven provinces in Nepal. Today, menstruating women have relatively more freedom to discuss this topic due to increased awareness that menstruation is a natural process. However, our study shows there are still differences between cultures, religions, castes and ethnic groups, and regions, and a single narrative does not represent the issues related to menstrual exclusion in Nepal. The study shows that many menstruating girls and women are still restricted in a number of diverse ways, from not offering prayers, entering or worshiping in temples, touching holy books, and participating in religious rituals. In some areas, more extreme practices persist which discriminate against women when menstruating. Our research highlights that education and an interdisciplinary, multisector approach are required if menstrual discrimination is to be addressed. Finally, this paper emphasizes the necessity for providing correct knowledge about menstruation to the entire community including elders, males and religious leaders as well as adolescents and young girls. Such knowledge will help them practice safe and hygienic menstrual practices, challenge and reduce their traditional beliefs, misconceptions and restrictions regarding menstruation that are essential to achieving menstrual dignity.

This article in principle wants to examine the history of the emergence of the conflict of Islamic revival in Minangkabau starting from the Paderi Movement to the Youth in Minangkabau. Especially in the initial period, namely the Padri movement, there was a tragedy of violence (radicalism) that accompanied it. This study becomes important, because after all the reformation of Islam began to be realized by reforming human life in the world. Both in terms of thought with the effort to restore the correct understanding of religion as it should, from the side of the practice of religion, namely by reforming deviant practices and adapted to the instructions of the religious texts (al-Qur'an and sunnah), and also from the side of strengthening power religion. In this case the research will be directed to the efforts of renewal by the Padri to the Youth towards the Islamic community in Minangkabau. To discuss this problem used historical research methods. Through this method, it is tested and analyzed critically the records and relics of the past. In analyzing the data in this research basically used approach or interactive analysis model by Miles and Huberman. In this analysis model, the three components of the analysis are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing or verification, the activity is carried out in an interactive form with the process of collecting data as a process that continues, repeats, and continues to form acycle.

Despite Christian leaders’ insistence that what is important about the Bible are the messages of the text, throughout Christian history the Bible as a material object, engaged by the senses, frequently has been perceived to be an effective object able to protect its users from bodily harm. This paper explores several examples where Christians view their Bibles as protective shields, and will situate those interpretations within the history of the material uses of the Bible. It will also explore how recent studies in affect theory might add to the understanding of what is communicated through sensory engagement with the Bible.

Based on the results of research that conducted by previous researchers suggest that the schools are the institutions most vulnerable to enter the radical religious ideology. Many factors could be cause this to happen. The lack regulation of the process of Islamic religious education in the schools, psychological conditions adolescentare unstable and looking for identity, the lack of religious comprehension in the students, and the religious organizations that entered to school institutions with a various of ideologies very easy, are part of the factors that cause vulnerability school institute from radical religious comprehension. In the respect to these conditions are required the model of the da’wa movement that can be accepted by adolescent and it be an alternative in the development of da’wa in the schools.To get the data, the authors conducted a qualitative study in the area of ​​Purwokerto using the phenomenological approach. The researchers conducted interviews and focus group discussions with the school leaders, teachers, students, activists of religious organizations, and religious leaders who understand the problems in this study. The main data is processed by combining the results of the observation and study of literature through a phenomenological approach that emphasizes the meaning behind the phrases or statements from informan.To produce the movement patterns of school da’wathat can be acceptable to all the communities in the schools, the school needs to make the movement patterns of integratif school da’wa,both intra-curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricularactivities. The religious activities and cultivation of religious values ​​are part of the process of da’wa that do not separated in the schools. In the practice of this the movement patterns, the school should pay attention to the characteristics of the school, students' backgrounds, as well as involvedstakeholders and the da’wa organizations.

The purpose of this study is to explore traditional moral values in Japanese society that are able to survive and be implemented in everyday life in the modern era. In addition, it is able to shape the distinctive character of the Japanese, including the role of women who contribute to maintaining traditional moral values. This research is a qualitative research field of philosophy with the object of formal values and the material object is the development of women's position in Japanese society. The results achieved in the study: Japanese women played an important role in the history of the struggle until Japan achieved prosperity and glory until now. This is based on the reason that Japanese women are able to maintain and preserve traditional moral values that still exist through early education in the family environment. These values can shape the character of children from an early age in the family. A family with character brings logical consequences to the life of a community with character so that it affects the culture as a whole.

The essay was written to mark the 25th anniversary of the Slavic Institute named after Jan Stanislav SAS (Bratislava). The Institute was founded to conduct interdisciplinary research on the relationships of the Slovak language and culture with other Slavic languages and cultures, as well as to study the Slovak-Latin, Slovak-Hungarian, and Slovak-German cultural and linguistic interactions in ancient times and the Middle Ages. The article introduces the main milestones in the formation and development of the Institute, its employees, the directions of their scientific work, and their significant publications. The main areas of research of the Slavic Institute (initially the Slavic Cabinet) cover linguistics (lexicography, history of language), history, folklore, cultural studies, musicology, and textology. Much attention is paid to the annotated translation of foreign religious texts into Slovak. A valuable contribution of the Institute to Slavic Studies is the creation of a database of Cyrillic and Latin handwritten and printed texts related to the Byzantine-Slavic tradition in Slovakia.

This essay seeks to place translation within a broad spectrum of bilingual practice. It shows the basic distinction but also the substantial overlap between oral and written transmission in the ancient and modern worlds, and focuses on issues of trust, prestige and cultural mixing in the history of translation practice. It argues that Roman translation models continue to shape modern approaches to the field. Discussion on why resistance may lie behind the paucity of translations in some languages. Issues raised by the transmission of religious texts have had special impact on the idea of translation, which nonetheless has remained as ‘fuzzy’ in practice in modern times as it was under the Roman Empire.

AbstractTerrorism, while not new in the history of humanity, has become a major issue and challenge for contemporary society worldwide. Recently it has become embodied and symbolized by the “Islamic State in Iraq and Syria” (ISIS) in its many permutations in the Middle East, the focus of massive military intervention on the part of major world powers and of study, analysis, strategy and planning. One aspect that has distinguished ISIS from previous terrorist movements is a major migration of women, especially but not limited to Western Europe, joining the jihad proclaimed by the religious leaders of ISIS. This introduction to the special issue on Female Migration to ISIS surveys and identifies the known possible roots of the phenomenon and related issues, summarizes major known points relative to it, and outlines the future agenda of work, not only academic but also practical and strategic, to be followed. Balanced recommendations on how to build a promising intervention strategy not only based on military force are put forth for consideration and discussion. While based on research, this article should be considered more of an editorial, generally introducing the field, summarizing existing work, especially the content of this special issue, and pointing out work needed in the future.

The article discusses the place of religion in the system of school humanitarian education of the Republic of Bashkortostan. At the regional level, one can clearly see what place religion occupies in the picture of the world of subjects of education on two subjects that essentially determine the worldview of schoolchildren. These include “Fundamentals of Religious Cultures and Secular Ethics” and the History of Russia. The study focuses on the following aspects of the topic: the place of religion in textbooks on “Fundamentals of the Religious Cultures and Secular Ethics” and the History of Russia, the form of discourse in the lessons of “Fundamentals of the Religious Cultures and Secular Ethics”, the factors of choosing religious modules of the “Fundamentals of the Religious Cultures and Secular Ethics” course, students 'interest in the history of religion, students' knowledge of Russian religious leaders. The work is based on the analysis of statistical sources, observation, sociological survey of schoolchildren, parents, students, as well as rhetorical analysis of textbooks. As the results of the research show, in Bashkortostan, a low choice of confessional modules guarantees a weak religious socialization of students in the classrooms of the “Fundamentals of the Religious Cultures and Secular Ethics”, since the module reflects the subject's discourse. Schoolchildren of Bashkortostan demonstrate a rather low interest in the history of religion and the biographies of religious figures. The data obtained indicate a low level of confessional identity of schoolchildren in the region.

Introduction. The written heritage of Kalmyk Buddhist priests, their daily practices, liturgical repertoire still remain a poorly studied page in the history of Buddhism among Mongolic peoples in the 20th century. The survived collections, clusters of religious texts prove instrumental in revealing most interesting aspects of their activities, efforts aimed at preservation of Buddhist teachings, their popularization and dissemination among believers. Goals. The paper examines two Oirat copies of the Precepts of the Omniscient [Manjushri] from N. D. Kichikov’s collection, transliterates and translates the original texts, provides a comparative analysis, and notes differences therein that had resulted from the scribe’s work, thereby introducing the narratives into scientific circulation. Materials. The article describes two Oirat manuscripts bound in the form of a notebook and contained in different bundles/collections of Buddhist religious texts stored at Ketchenery Museum of Local History and Lore. As is known, the collection is largely compiled from texts that belonged to the famous Kalmyk Buddhist monk Namka (N. D. Kichikov). Results. The analysis of the two Oirat texts with identical titles — Precepts of the Omniscient [Manjushri] — shows that their contents coincide generally but both the texts contain fragmented omissions (separate words, one or several sentences) that are present in the other. At the same time, when omitting fragments of the text addressed to the monastic community, the scribe was obviously guided by that those would be superfluous for the laity. Thus, our comparative analysis of the two manuscript copies demonstrates the sometimes dramatic role of the scribe in transmitting Buddhist teachings.
