Abstract Popular movies are constructed to control our attention and guide our eye movements across the screen. Estimates of fixation locations were made by manually moving a cursor and clicking over frames at the beginnings and ends of more than 30,000 shots in 24 English-language movies. Results provide evidence for three general filmmaking practices in screen composition. The first and overriding practice is that filmmakers generally put the most import content ‒ usually the center of a character’s face ‒ slightly above the center of the screen. The second concerns two-person conversations, which account for about half of popular movie content. Dialogue shots alternate views of the speakers involved, and filmmakers generally place the conversants slightly to opposite sides of the midline. The third concerns all other shots. For those, filmmakers generally follow important content in one shot by similar content in the next shot on the same side of the vertical midline. The horizontal aspect of the first practice seems to follow from the nature of our field of view and vertical aspect from the relationship of heads to bodies depicted. The second practice derives from social norms and an image composition norm called nose room, and the third from the consideration of continuity and the speed of re-engaging attention.

Movies are very significant in our lives. It is one of the many forms of entertainment that we encounter in our daily lives. It is up to the individual to decide whatever type of film they choose to see, whether it is a comedy, romantic film, action film, or adventure film. However, the issue is locating acceptable content, as there is a large amount of information created each year. As a result, finding our favourite film is really difficult. The goal of this research is to improve the regular filtering technique's performance and accuracy. A recommendation system can be implemented using a variety of approaches. Content-based filtering and collaborative filtering strategies are employed in this work. The content-based filtering approach analyses the user's history/past behaviour and recommends a list of comparable movies depending on their input. K-NN algorithms and collaborative filtering are also employed in this paper to improve the accuracy of the results. Cosine similarity is utilised in this work to quickly discover comparable information. The correctness of the cosine angle is measured by cosine similarity. People may quickly find their favourite movie content thanks to all of this.

The modern technology in line with the fast -paced environment has caused the penetration of TV as an influential means of communication in almost all aspects of our lives. This crucial role played by TV has resulted in the creation of a complex effect system on the younger generations based on the contents broadcasted via the satellite channels. The dense exposure to action and crime genre movies broadcasted through Arab and foreign satellite channels gave rise to a huge set of implications on the youth of the Gulf general in particular. The field study aimed at determining the effect of the exposure of the youth of the Gulf region to the contents of violence portrayed in foreign movies via the satellites. This problem was approached through conducting a field study and applying a questionnaire based on the theory of cultural implantation. By researching the relationship between the exposure of the youth in the Gulf region to violent movie contents and the impact on their behaviors, it becomes evident that there is a strong effect due to the exposure to foreign movies on the youth in the Gulf region as a concrete result of the study. However, we conclude from the results that the Arab channels that reproduce or broadcast movie content are the most followed ones as a result of the way they reformat the content to suit the general public in terms of the availability of translation and the subjection of movies to the regulatory standards that are consistent with the society standards.

AbstractDiscovering content and stories in movies is one of the most important concepts in multimedia content research studies. Network models have proven to be an efficient choice for this purpose. When an audience watches a movie, they usually compare the characters and the relationships between them. For this reason, most of the modelsdeveloped so far are based on social networks analysis. They focus essentially on the characters at play. By analyzing characters interactions, we can obtain a broad picture of the narration’s content. Other works have proposed to exploit semantic elements such as scenes, dialogues, etc.. However, they are always captured from a single facet. Motivated by these limitations, we introduce in this work a multilayer network model to capture the narration of a movie based on its script, its subtitles, and the movie content. After introducing the model and the extraction process from the raw data, weperform a comparative analysis of the whole 6-movie cycle of the Star Wars saga. Results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework for video content representation and analysis.

Konsepsi agama kembali menjadi basis praktik komodifikasi. This study aims to prove the textual relevance between religious content as an issue or thematic commodity with biopic film content that becomes material object or to know and express the relevance of texts based on the conception of religious texts in biopic film as part of the types of religious commodification in trend of Indonesian film genre. Through a film entitled Sang Pencerah, how the religion conception developed by KH Ahmad Dahlan by way out of puritan Islamic conception in conductthe islamic values. KH Ahmad Dahlan renewed through the deconstruction of puritanism conception seen in the text of the film that presents KH Ahmad Dahlan which corrects the position of prayers radically to 14 degrees, dakwah through violin music, using clothes with european models, selling batik and banning offerings. As a consequence, KH Ahmad Dahlan was enraged by his fellow Islamic religious leaders and the mosque he founded was burned. The contents of the story that intersect with the history of KH Ahmad Dahlan and his beliefs with the conception of religion and identity become an interesting text to be used as filmcommodity. The history of KH Ahmad Dahlan with the conception of his religious struggle commodified by the filmmakers, both directors, writers, and producers, a spectacle that is then sold to the audience. The economic aspect becomes more important than the reasons for religious ideology. These contents are interesting from the side of the moviestory, because the movie is an entertainment industry that attracts viewers, then the movie content is also very decisive. Religion conception is again the basis of commodification practice.
