Abstract This paper provides an analysis of the influence of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure, usage and skills on the export and import of goods and services in the region of South-East Europe (SEE) by applying gravity models to bilateral trade flows through the panel data analysis. The results show that GDP per capita and Internet usage have a significant positive impact on import, and in addition, the digital infrastructure and digital skills have a positive, but small impact on export. Distance has a negative impact on trade. These countries faced relatively poor development and usage of the ICT sector, which indicates unexplored potential which could be used to improve international trade if exploited by businesses, government and households.

This paper studies the effect of digitalization on the perception of corruption and trust in tax officials in Africa. Using individual-level data from Afrobarometer surveys and several indices of digitalization, we find that an increase in digital adoption is associated with a reduction in the perception of corruption and an increase in trust in tax officials. Exploiting the exogeneous deployment of submarine cables at the local level, the paper provides evidence of a negative impact of the use of Internet on the perception of corruption. Yet, the paper shows that the dampening effect of digitalization on corruption is hindered in countries where the government has a pattern of intentionally shutting down the Internet, while countries that successfully promote information and communication technology (ICT) enjoy a more amplified effect.

Due to the accelerated pace of information and communication technology developments, the digital society and the digital economy have become real and, in turn, pose specific challenges. In this environment, digital skills and competences are essential to achieve the professional success and personal development of any individual. The positive impact that information and communication technology has on education cannot be disputed, but there are also some obstacles that need to be overcome in order to make the most of these benefits. An essential aspect to consider is that technology has repercussions not only on pupils and students, but also on teachers, who must adapt and acquire the knowledge necessary to disseminate information. Having as the main objective of reflecting the impact of digitalization on the educational sector, the paper highlights the basic concepts in the field of digital technology and, at the same time, the current implications on educational processes. At the same time, through logistic regression, the way in which the means of digital innovation influence the education in Romania is analysed and to determine the factors with the highest degree of influence. Modern technology can be considered as synonymous with the future and that is why it is essential that all young students acquire the digital knowledge necessary to revolutionize the educational process and at the same time redefine the recruitment of the labour market.

The continuous development of the new-generation Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has drawn increased focus and investment from China. However, will China’s investment in the ICT bring a long-term positive impact on China’s economic growth? Will such impact be changed by any external factors? These questions bear strong significance for the academic cycle and require urgent solutions. Given such concerns, the paper introduced a partial dynamic adjustment model and selected the panel data of China from 2001 to 2016 to study how China’s investment in ICT affected its economic performance. The study found that such investment has significantly promoted the economic growth of China with gradually shortened gap between physical capital and the ICT investment, while human capital still played a vital role in economic growth; there is a mutual and harmonious influence between macrovariable and the speed of adjustment, and only their effective combination can improve economic performance to the maximum extent.

The advancement of development nowadays has brought many positive and negative things for everyone. The positive impact can bring progress both in information and communication technology. Whereas, the negativity can lead to setbacks in society. One of them is politeness culture and mutual respect among the society. Indonesia is popular with its culture of manners and politeness but recently this culture has begun to disappear. For example,in several cases, students are no longer considered their teacher as a role model at school. Therefore, this research was intended to embed students’ moral and character through a habituation method. This method was expected to build the students’ character better.

A thorough glance of the ICT and development researches reveal that the qualitative studies reasonably depend on the grounded theory as it is obtained from the phenomenon unlike the study begins with the theory and proves it. Most of the researches concentrated on the adoption of technology, receptiveness of the target audience, organizational structure of the project agencies and of course, the impact of intervention. Fewer researches have been done to gauge the factors affecting the positive or negative impact of the technology. None of the above stated theories were relevant except meta-theoretical perspectives of ICT and society. The authors propose a chapter discusses the contingency factors which affect the positive or negative impact of the rural Information and Communication Technology hubs in India by analyzing the researches which were published after the year 2000. It shall be specifically dealing with the researches which are based on primary data. Thus it could reflect the challenges the Indian rural ICT initiatives face.

The research aims to analyse the alliance of archive, library and museum (ALM) at the Kruger National Park with regards to compliance with legislations, ALM’s role in education and the adoption of information and communication technology. A qualitative method was used to collect data. The research found that most of the participants were not aware of the legislations governing ALM in South Africa. ALM was not fully utilised for educational activities to enhance knowledge management; there is a low rate of adoption of information and communication technology as an enabler to provide education. Hopefully, this study will help to formulate research agendas to address societal challenges, such as adopting the policies which will have a positive impact on the implementation of ALM policies.

Background: Information and communication technology (ICT) increases participation in life activities, and young adults are frequent users. Young adults with intellectual disability (ID) do not use ICT as much as their peers, and little is known about how ICT is used by young adults with ID. This study describes the use of ICT from the perspective of young adults with mild to moderate ID in a municipal social care context. Method: Semi-structured interviews were used to collect information from 11 young adults with mild-to-moderate ID living in residential care and analysed using a content analysis. Results: ICT was used for family relationships, daily support, interactions based on interests and amusement, and as support for offline activities. Family members were important providers of support for ICT use. Conclusion: Young adults with mild-to-moderate ID use ICT in their daily life. The social care context needs to be further investigated due to its influence on the young adults’ access to ICT and need of support.
