Devoted to the theme of single-family houses, given the key role they played in the ideal definition of the Modern Movement architecture, as a symbolic and functional affirmation of the utopian turning of dreams into reality, the aim of this issue is to consider the transformation of daily life, and to address the architectural challenges that arose from the joy contained in what we might call the “architecture of happiness.” As we continue to endure a pandemic that has now lasted for more than a year, docomomo wishes to declare that “till the moment, the best vaccine to prevent contagion was invented by architects: the house”. Thus, in response to the question “How should we live?”, it is intended to debate the house and the home agenda as an important topic at the core of Modern Movement architecture. Nowadays, the growing emphasis on wellbeing goes beyond the seminal ideas that modern houses were “machines à habiter” and is closer to an idealistic vision of a stimulating shell for humans, which is shaped by imagination, experimentation, efficiency, and knowledge.

The social isolation promoted by COVID-19 impacts the routine and habits of families with a reflection on the characteristics and generation of solid waste and consumption of natural resources. This situation has been identified as an opportunity for educational institutions to promote awareness actions with their internal and external community as a contribution to reduce such effects. In order to disseminate sustainable practices related to the daily life of the pandemic and to evaluate responses, the group of teachers and students developed activities which contributed to minimize the effects of the pandemic. The ease and speed of social media was used as a tool for actions. The methodological steps were: survey of the existing contents in the official networks of the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo related to the topic of interest, the definition of the InstagramTM social network, profile creation for the Ifes Biotechnology and Sustainability Laboratory (Labiotecs), increase of followers, creation and dissemination of content and publications analysis. The work is based on the Deming Cycle methodology in order to optimize its planning and execution. Among the results, 179 followers on the profile were reached, 10 posts were shared in the feed, 4 questionnaires and 5 polls applied until 06/17/2020. The effectiveness of the work was shown through the reach of publications and public acceptance. Also, the Deming cycle proved to be adequate and capable of being replicated.

Orientalism is a Western and Western-centric broad field of research that studies the social structures, cultures, languages, histories, religions, and geographies of countries to the east of Europe. The term took on a secondary, detrimental association in the 20th century which looks down on the East. However, this chapter will not dwell on the definition of Orientalism that is debated the most; instead, it will discuss the positive contribution of Orientalism to Western culture. Even though the West otherizes the East in daily life, when it comes to desire, vanity, luxury, and flamboyance without hesitating a moment it adopts these very elements from the Eastern culture. It could be said that this adaptation brings these societies closer in one way or another. The highly admired fashion of Orientalism in the West starting from the 17th century until the 21st century will be the focus of this study.

I would like to share with my fellow geometry teachers a real-life illustration of the importance of the adjective “equidistant” in the definition of a circle. This illustration is taken from Diary of the Dark Years, 1940-1944: Collaboration, Resistance, and Daily Life in Occupied Paris, by the French cultural critic, Jean Gúehenno. This was Gúehenno's diary entry for July 4, 1941:

Ensuring effective use of communication and participation in life for adults with aphasia in their natural settings may require broader and more extensive interventions than previously envisioned or actively managed by speechlanguage pathologists. Acquired brain damage unquestionably diminishes the extent to which adults with aphasia make use of communication and participation in daily life. But optimal management of aphasia extends beyond an anatomic-physiologic basis of dysfunction or even concentrated efforts to remediate linguistic or communication disabilities. Past failures to achieve a solution to this problem may be more because of what is absent from aphasia treatment than the improper or incomplete repair or management of what currently is treated. Treatment may require inclusion and active integration of a means of managing the psychosocial handicap of the aphasia. However, with an expanded scope to aphasia treatment, the methods of inquiry must be equally appropriate for discerning pertinent facts about optimal functioning of adults with aphasia in natural settings. This topic, the epistemology of the problem, is the subject of a forthcoming publication.

Free definition of motor third party liability insurance tariffs leads to individual statement of premiums in agreement with the degree of risk the insured are exposed to i.e. their behaviour in the previous period. Using the experience of neighbouring countries, which have introduced a system of liberalization of motor third party liability insurance premiums, with prior quality preparation, Serbia could establish the liberalization of motor third party liability insurance premiums which could significantly contribute to insurance market advancement. This can also affect the behaviour of drivers, whereby we would raise the level of traffic safety and reduce the consequences and damages caused by traffic accidents.

As the birth rate in Japan continues to decline, there is a growing need to ensure the availability of highly qualified foreign professionals. In order to attract more international students, it is necessary to understand the variables from the academic and daily life that international students face in Japan. This study shows the variables that influence academic satisfaction, daily life satisfaction and the relationship between these variables for Peruvian students serving as Monbukagakusho scholars in Japan. This study also describes the Monbukakusho scholars experience in their academic and daily life in Japan, which has a unique culture. Mix methodology was used in this study. The quantitative model based on individual data taken from a survey administered to Peruvian Monbukagakusho students, who were studying or are continuing their studies in Japan. The results show that the dependent variables and academic satisfaction are significantly related to language difficulties. Regarding the second dependent variable of, daily life satisfaction, we find a significant relationship between those who choose to study in Japan for cultural reasons and those, who study in shared laboratories and the type of scholarship received. Economic factors such as financial scholarship values are not related to dependent variables. A qualitative design of grounded theory was used as a framework to explore the experiences of Monbukagakusho students’ definition of academic and daily life satisfaction in Japan. Five relevant Japanese codes stand out from the interviews; cohai-sempai, tatemae, honne, omoiyari and aisowarai.

This article discusses the concept of bribery in the perspective of hadith jurisprudence and its impact on human life. By looking at some definitions of bribery, it is found that all definitions give different meanings, goals, and aspects, there are essence of bribery, or which have similarities to them (such as gratification), because bribery is a social phenomenon and has many patterns making it difficult to define definitions the right and limit the meaning. But a definition that explains the meaning of bribery objectively, namely: Giving given to someone (an official) so that the right becomes wrong and wrong becomes right, because it summarizes the essence of bribery practice and is considered a comprehensive definition of all banned aspects of bribery, so let us choose this. In Qur’ān and Ḥadīth, Allah forbade his servant to eat bribery property, because this property was included as part of consuming other people's assets with vanity. Even though bribery is called a variety of terms in daily life, such as facilitation payments, tips, etc., the legal status and prohibition cannot change with these various terms. Bribes also have the potential to create hate conflicts and hostility among members of the community. Because in essence, bribery is only a tool for those who hold policies to oppress the weak. On the other hand, those who surrendered their wealth to the recipients of this bribe gave their assets very forcefully.
