Dayak Onion (Eleutherine bulbosa [Mill.] Urb.) It is a plant that grows in Indonesia precisely in the Kalimantan area and has traditionally efficacious in curing various diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, breast cancer, cholesterol-lowering, and stroke. This study aims to determine the effect of using the lactic acid-sucrose based microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) method to extract total polyphenols from Dayak onion tubers (Eleutherine bulbosa [Mill.] Urb.). Dry samples were extracted using a lactic-sucrose acid (green solvent) solvent in the ratio of 1: 1, 2: 1, and 3: 1  g/g with 50% microwave strength for 10 minutes with a ratio of samples and solvents of 1:10 g /mL. Extracts that have been obtained then determined the total polyphenol levels using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 791 nm. Based on the results of the study, it was obtained the levels of polyphenols from each condition of the solvent used in the sample that is 28.73 mg GAE/g sample ( 1: 1 g/g solvent); 20.2 mg GAE/g sample ( 2:1 g/g solvent); 36.35 mg GAE/g sample ( 3:1 g/g solvent). From this study, it can be concluded that the MAE method can be used to extract polyphenol compounds from Dayak bulbs.

This study aim to determine the effect of use lactic acid and sucrose with assistance of Microwave Assisted Extraction (MAE) on Total Polyphenols from Herbs Suruhan (Peperomia pellucida (L.) Kunth). The dried sample of Herbs Suruhan was extracted using (green solvent) lactic acid-sucrose with a ratio of 1:1 g/g, 2:1 g/g and 3:1 g/g and the extraction conditions microwave strength was 50% for 10 minutes at a ratio sample and solvent 1:10 g/ml. Then the extract solution obtained to determine the total polyphenol level using the Folin Ciocalteu reagent and it absorbance was measured using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 791 nm. Based on the result of the study, obtained levels of polyphenols from each solvent condition used on the sample were 573,443 mg GAE/g (2:1), 472,479 mg GAE/g (1:1) and 420,14 mg GAE/g (3:1). It can be concluded that the lactic acid-sucrose method with microwave assisted extraction can be used to extract polyphenol compounds from Herbs Suruhan.

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of malic acid-glucose based microwave assited extraction (MAE) methods on total polyphenol extraction from kadamba leaves (Mitragyna Speciosa Korth). Samples that have been dried in the extraction using solvents (green solvent) Malic Acid-Glucose with a ratio of 1: 1 and 1: 3 g/g in several conditions including, microwave strength 50% for 10 minutes with a sample ratio and a solvent of 1:10 g/mL. Then the extract solution obtained was measured in total polyphenol levels using the folin ciocalteu (FC) reagent and the absorbance was measured at a wavelength of 791 nm using a UV-vis spectrophotometer. Based on the results of the study obtained levels of polyphenols from each condition of the solvent used is 258mg GAE/g sample (1:1 g/g solvent) and 292mg GAE /g sample (1: 3 g / g solvent). From this study it can be concluded that the method of malic acid-glucose based microwave assited extraction can be used to extract polyphenol compounds from Kadamba leaves quickly, easily and efficiently.

This study aims to determine the effect of citric acid-glucose based microwave assited extraction (MAE) method on total polyphenols content from (Peperomia pellucida [L.] Kunth) herbs. Dried samples were extracted using green solvent glucose citric acid with a ratio of 1: 1 g/g, 3: 1 g/g, and 5: 1 g/g, respectively, 30% microwave power for 5 minutes, and 1:5 g /mL solid-liquid ratio. Then the obtained extract solution was performed determination total polyphenols content using Folin-Ciocalteu reagent, and the absorbance was measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at 791 nm. Based on the results, obtained total polyphenols content according to the extraction condition namely 214.405 mg GAE/g sample (3: 1 g /g solvent), 84.833 mg GAE /g sample (1: 1 g /g solvent) and 53,9451 mg GAE/g sample (5: 1 g /g solvent), respectively. This study is a preliminary data about the use of citric acid-glucose based microwave assisted extraction method on total polyphenols content from this plant quickly, easily and efficiently.

This research was conducted to determine the influence of the use of the choline chloride-sorbitol based microwave assisted extraction (MAE) method against the total extraction of polyphenols from the leaf Kadamba (Mitragyna speciosa Korth). Simplisia extracted using solvent (green solvent) choline chloride-sorbitol with a ratio of 1:1; 1:2 and 1:3 g/g with sample and solvent ratio of 1:10 g/mL, microwave strength is 50% watt and performed for 10 minutes, the extract solution has been obtained and then done determination of total levels of polyphenols by using folin ciocalteu reagents and further measured its absorption with the UV-VIS spectrophotometer device at a wavelength of 770 nm. Based on the results of the study, obtained the levels of polyphenols from each comparison of solvent used against the sample of 334 mg of GAE/g samples (1:1 g/g solvent); 372 mg GAE/g samples (1:2 g/g solvents) and 299 mg of GAE/g samples (1:3 g/g solvents). Based on the results of the study can be concluded that the method of choline chloride-sorbitol based microwave assisted extraction (MAE) can be used to extract the polyphenols from Kadamba leaves easily, quickly and efficiently.

The present study investigates recovery of polyphenolic compounds from ripe mango ( Mangifera indica L.) peel using deep eutectic solvents based on microwave-assisted extraction method. Lactic acid/sodium acetate/water (3:1:4) screened out from eight different types of deep eutectic solvent systems was used as extractant. A Box–Behnken design along with response surface methodology was applied to optimize the effect of microwave power (W), time (min), and liquid-to-solid ratio (mL g−1) on polyphenol extraction. The optimized conditions determined were power of 436.45 W, time of 19.66 min, and liquid-to-solid ratio of 59.82 mL g−1. Under the optimal conditions, the recovery of total phenolic content, ferric reducing antioxidant power, and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl scavenging activity was 56.17 mg gallic acid equivalent g−1 dw, 683.27 µmol ascorbic acid equivalent g−1 dw, and 82.64 DPPHsc%, respectively. High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) analysis revealed mangiferin as the prominent phenolic compound in the mango peel extracts. Microwave-assisted deep eutectic solvent extraction showed remarkable effects on the extraction efficiency of phenolic compounds as revealed from scanning electron microscopy analysis. Rancimat test results revealed that the oxidative stability almost doubled upon addition of purified mango peel extracts to the sunflower oil and thus paving way for the use of mango peel waste as a potential source of antioxidants.

The extraction of proanthocyanidins (PACs), despite being an important and limiting aspect of their industrial application, is still largely unexplored. Herein, the possibility of combining eutectic solvents (ESs) with microwave assisted extraction (MAE) in the extraction of PACs from grape pomace (GP) is explored, aiming to improve not only the extraction yield but also the mean degree of polymerization (mDP). The combination of choline chloride with lactic acid was shown to be the most effective combination for PACs extraction yield (135 mgPAC/gGP) and, despite the occurrence of some depolymerization, also enabled us to achieve the highest mDP (7.13). Additionally, the combination with MAE enabled the process to be completed in 3.56 min, resulting in a considerably reduced extraction time.

Polyscias fruticosa (L.) leaves contain significant bioactive compounds with high antioxidant activity such as chlorophylls, total polyphenols, etc. but these have still been underutilized. In this study, the kinetics of chlorophyll and antioxidant activity extraction from P. fruticosa leaves by microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) were investigated. Microwave power was 300, 450, or 600 (W); the ratio of material/solvent varied from 1:40 to 1:80 (g/mL). In this study, the second-order kinetic model successfully predicted the change of chlorophyll and antioxidant activity during MAE. The increase of microwave power or/and the solvent amount increased saturated extraction efficiency and the extraction rate constant. However, the saturated concentration of chlorophyll and antioxidant activity increased with the increment of microwave power and the decrease in solvent amount.

Pomegranate pomace (PP) is the solid waste produced in bulk by the pomegranate juice industry which is rich in polyphenols and flavonoids that can replace the hazardous chemical antioxidants/antimicrobials currently used in the agro-food and cosmetics sectors. In the present work, the vacuum microwave assisted extraction (VMAE) of natural antioxidants from raw pomegranate pomace was investigated and successfully optimized at an industrial scale. For the optimization of PP VMAE a novel, highly accurate response surface methodology (RSM) based on a comprehensive multi-point historical design was employed. The optimization showed that the maximum recovery of PP total polyphenols as well as total PP flavonoids were obtained at microwave power = 4961.07 W, water to pomace ratio = 29.9, extraction time = 119.53 min and microwave power = 4147.76 W, water to pomace ratio = 19.32, extraction time = 63.32 min respectively. Moreover, the optimal VMAE conditions on economic grounds were determined to be: microwave power = 2048.62 W, water to pomace ratio = 23.11, extraction time = 15.04 min and microwave power = 4008.62 W, water to pomace ratio = 18.08, extraction time = 15.29 min for PP total polyphenols and PP total flavonoids respectively. The main conclusion of this study is that the VMAE extraction can be successfully used at industrial scale to produce, in economic manner, high added value natural extracts from PP pomace.
