Laboratories in Higher Education  have an important role as executors of its Tri Dharma which includes the functions of education, research, and community service. Every activity in the laboratory, it requires destilled water as solvent and cleaners of various tools and materials. This fact leads to high budget is needed for the availability of  the material in laboratory. In the Plant Biosciences and Technology Laboratory, an autoclave was broken. It is no longer used as its main function sterilization and can only be used as a tool to heat water. With  few modifications, namely the addition of a condenser made of copper pipes, the autoclave has been converted into a simple distillation device. It was expected tha the tool could  produce distilled water, which has the same value as distilled water sold in the market. The results showed that the tool produces colorless, odorless, and tasteless distilled water. The quality is in accordance with distilled water sold in the market and SNI standard for demineralized water. The pH and TDS values are slightly higher than distilled water sold in the market but are still in the range of SNI standard for demineralized water. The value of DHL, both the distilled water produced and  the one sold in the market are not in the range of SNI standard for demineralized water. Hence,  studies are needed to obtain the same value so that the need for distilled water for educational, research, and community service activities in the Department of Biology FSAINS ITS can be fulfilled.

This paper explores the notion of a 'threshold concept' and discusses its possible implications for higher education research and practice. Using the case of introductory accounting as an illustration, it is argued that the idea of a threshold concept provides an emerging theoretical framework for a 're-view' of educational research and practice. It is argued that this re-view both demands and supports several forms of dialogue about educational research and practice: within the disciplines (between lecturers and between lecturers and students) and between lecturers and educational developers. Finally, it is suggested that, rather than representing a research field in its own right, the threshold concepts framework may act as a catalyst, drawing together a variety of fields of research in a productive educative framework.

The data processed is the use of the 2017, 2018 and 2019 budgets at ATAK Universities. The result predections use budget's get it from simulation process the monte carlo are 89.79% for predictions in 2018, 84.73% for predictions for 2019 and 85.52% for 2020. In this case the monte carlo that possible apply to do predictions budget's utilization the following year.

The tridharma of higher education in the form of education, research, and community service is the mandate of the legislation for universities. In implementing tridharma, universities should adapt to the development and needs of the community as well as science and technology (Science, Technology and the Arts). It can hardly be fulfilled by a university alone because of the growing needs of the society where all branches of science need to be integrated and connected. This study explained how collaboration could be applied in universities with a TQM approach. TQM has been widely used in various organizations and has proven its success for this approach was chosen in developing the existing collaboration model. Literature analysis method of TQM and collaboration was used in this study. The result is collaboration in fulfilling the Tridharma of higher education by using the TQM approach in a model stage could help organizations achieve previously agreed goals and adapt to existing science and technology needs.

The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence self-efficacy and motivation have on the performance of Lecturers' in the College of Indonesian Aviation or Sekolah Tinggi Penerbangan Indonesia (STPI). The lecturers' self-efficacy decreases if it is not related to the disruptive era - industrial revolution 4.0. In applying Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi, lecturers have three main functions of education, research and community service. This research used an empirical approach with quantitative methods. Data collection was done by sampling with questionnaires and observation techniques. Through descriptive statistical analysis of the results of the variables Self-Efficacy (X1) and Motivation (X2) obtained from questionnaires for 30 respondents using the percentage of answers to 35 indicators. The same method in motivational variable data is for 12 indicators. Moreover, with the same method, the result data of lecturer performance variable (Y) towards 26 question indicators stated that lecturer performance at STPI is already good or high, it means that the correlation between two positive variables is solemnly strong. The result of this study indicated that self-efficacy and motivation are closely and strongly related to the effectiveness of the performance of STPI lecturers in the application of Higher Education Tridharma by STPI lecturers.

In their editorial review, the JLE editors consider the concept of gamification, its spread in higher education research, and relevance at present. The authors analyse the current Scopus statistics to prove the prominence of the theme for researchers. The JLE scope can be further enriched via more studies on gamification in higher education and games in learning at large. The editorial may prompt the potential authors to proceed with more profound research in gamification learning techniques applicable to education.

The article clarifies the peculiarities of the organization of educational and scientific research activity of higher education institution students, which is an important way to improve the quality of training and forming of specialists with an academic degree, able to creatively apply the latest achievements of scientific and technological progress, and opens opportunities for effective acquisition and use of knowledge; implements an individualized approach to learning; develops the ability to independently conduct research and summarize the investigation results; dominant tasks are characterized; the directions (educational research, scientific research and scientific organizational) and types of educational research activity of students (abstract, scientific reviews and articles, course and diploma papers) are analysed; the theoretical bases of stylistics and the concept of “style” are investigated; the substyles of the scientific style are analysed (proper scientific (academic, purely scientific); scientific and technical (production and technical); scientific humanitarian; scientific informative (scientific summarizing); scientific reference (reference-encyclopaedic). It is proved that the main purpose of scientific language is to create and produce the scientific text, by which we mean the highest communicative unit within scientific discourse, a holistic communicative block having a clear, logical structure and internally complete parts, saturated with relevant terminology, a set of constant text categories and a means of presenting scientific information, the results of scientific research. The levels of organization of the scientific text (linguistic-structural (operating with linguistic models); linguistic-cognitive (verbalized concepts in the text); communicative-rhetorical (means of persuasion in the scientific text); communicative-pragmatic (personal attitude of the one who produces a scientific text to the message) are investigated; the features of primary (monograph, dissertation, bachelor and master theses) and secondary (scientific article, abstracts, summaries, annotations, reviews, reports) scientific texts are characterized. The paper reveals the principles of compiling scientific texts: content saturation – innovativeness of the presented information, its cognitive value; professional core – the need for analysed information for a particular sphere; scientific informativeness – the author’s concept of the represented research; novelty of the scientific text – new observations and knowledge discoveries that can be implemented in practice; content completeness – the integrity of the presented statements; problematicity – coding of problematic issues; comprehensibility to a specialist in a particular field – apprehensibility of information and providing necessary conditions to understanding it; intertextuality – connection of the scientific text with other types of texts; text declarativeness – a clear comparative analysis of a particular process or phenomenon. The stages of work on the scientific text (organizational, research, generalization of research results) are studied. Requirements for the creation of scientific texts are defined: clear structure (division into chapters, sections, units, paragraphs and sentences that are closely related to each other), avoiding of repetitions (in particular, in conclusions to chapters and in final conclusions); deliberate use of graphic material; systemacity in the process of writing the text; avoidance of concepts that cannot be unambiguously interpreted; justified use of figures and facts; text coherence. The requirements to the structure of the scientific text (introduction, research part, conclusions) are covered.
