Phenomenological literary theory has its roots in Edmund Husserl’s studies of the directional acts of consciousness in the first half of the 20th century and Roman Ingarden’s The Literary Work of Art and The Cognition of the Literary Work of Art, arguing that literary works can come into existence only in the act of reading. Under the influence of Martin Heidegger, phenomenology absorbed hermeneutic insights from Dilthey, Gadamer, and Ricoeur, as well as existentialist features, foremost from Jean-Paul Sartre, with Merleau-Ponty contributing a corporeal accent by reiterating Husserl’s distinction between the biophysical body (Körper) and the animate body (Leib). George Poulet of the Geneva school and the early Yale critics added an author-oriented form of literary criticism, while Ingarden’s work was taken up by the Konstanz school theorists Wolfgang Iser and Hans Robert Jauss, the latter challenging ontological approaches by a historically anchored form of reception aesthetics. In the United States, the idea of phenomenology in literature has been prominently pursued by Maurice Natanson. At the same time, phenomenological literary theory is undergoing a revival in the wake of the neo-phenomenology of Hermann Schmitz, notably in such writings as Rita Felski’s Uses of Literature.

Sumary: The work of Gloria Anzaldúa is currently of great importance for Latin American studies and for feminist literary criticism. This is due to the influence of intersectionality studies in feminism with the coordinates of sex, gender, race and social class, and of changes in literary criticism interested in studying literary creation in the key of writing policies. Also because from the 80's the women's literary production became more visible and there was a marked interest in the study of the subject of feminism. The previous milestones led feminists to wonder about the subject of feminism and the experience of this subject. It was found that experience is a construction as the gender of subjects and therefore can not be awarded a type of experience on the grounds of biological sex, race and social class. This article, based on the work of Gloria Anzaldúa, describes the transformations of the idea of experience in feminism and approaches it as a construction and interpretation of itself through policies of writing. AbstractIn this article I examine recent events in the contemporary conflict over abortion in the United States. The aim of the research is to develop the typology and examine the features of women’s representations in the US literary works, focused on medical problematics. The research methodology is based on the application of modern literary studies in the fields of narratology, receptive aesthetics and literary hermeneutics. The paper analyses the author’s intentions and the role of the reader’s reception of medical discourse through the prism of gender studies and feminist literary criticism. We analyse the semi-autobiographical prose works by the American writers: “The Snake Pit” (1946) by Mary Jane Ward, “The Bell Jar” (1963) by Sylvia Plath, and “Prozac Nation” (1994) by Elizabeth Wurtzel. The theoretical significance of the research consists in the disclosure of women’s representations in the American literary and medical discourse in the diachronic focus. We examine the role of women as physicians, the peculiarities of representing women as nurses, as well as the narrative role of women as patients. The research is the first scientific attempt to examine the peculiarities of narrative representation of women in the literary and medical discourse of the US prose. The research demonstrates the transformation of women’s representations in the analysed novels, which directly reflects the emancipation tendencies over the course of the 20th century. These changes are naturally displayed in the narrative configuration of the prose works under consideration. The study of medical problems in a literary work through the prism of narratology and receptive aesthetics reveales the author’s intentionality and dimensions of the reader’s reception, as well as enables us to re-consider the socio-cultural phenomena, such as illness and health, norm and pathology. The results of the study will improve the content of training courses in the world literature and form a methodological basis for the development of special courses, theme-based seminars and academic syllabi.

The practice of trafficking in women is still a phenomenon in various countries, including Indonesia. In fact, this problem has been raised into the literary work, Remi Silado's Mimi lan Mintuna. This novel tells the story of Indonesian women who were trafficked to Bangkok for the purpose of sexual exploitation. This study was conducted to reveal the practice of trafficking in women reflected in literary works as the author's response to the social realities that exist in society. This study uses the theory of socialist feminist literary criticism which considers that gender injustice experienced by women is caused by a marriage between patriarchy and capitalism. The method used is descriptive qualitative to understand the phenomenon on the subject of the study and use the assistive method of reading as a woman. Reading as a Woman is the awareness of gender differences in the process of reading literary works that also influence the meaning. The results of this study reveal that the practice of trafficking in women reflected in the novel, there are various gender injustices that are manifested in forms such as making women as objects of violence, sexual objects, economic marginalization, and the formation of stereotypes on women namely as submissive creatures and easily conquered. In response, this study also revealed feminist ideas as a rejection of gender injustice experienced. These feminist ideas include women's liberation from male domination, women who have strength and courage, women's ability to determine their destiny, women who are economically independent, and women who have intelligence.

Abstract: The literary work of Carmen Conde (Cartagena, 1907-Madrid, 1996) written during the post-war period stablishes a deep dialogue with the topic of locus amoenus through one of the spaces which it is frecuently connected to, the garden or hortus conclusus, and through one of its main elements, the flower. In some of the poems in Ansia de la gracia (1945) and Iluminada tierra (1951), the garden and the floral imaginary serve to suggest models of female identity that transgress both the pasive image of women portrayed in male literature and the one imposed by the national identity of Franco’s Regime. In this article I develop a theoretical framework from the perspective of feminist literary criticism for the study of this rewriting and I analize some of the texts by Carmen Conde that are representative of this rewriting.
