The aim of this study is to investigate the enhancement of the students’ mathematical creative thinking ability in two classes whereby in one class, the students learning through problem-basedlearning “what’s another way” and in another class, the students learning through discovery learning. The population of the study were all seven grade students in a junior high schools in Pekalongan regency. The sampling technique used purposive sampling and involved two classes as samples. The data were gathered by employing three research instruments such as mathematics creative thinking ability test, teaching materials, and observation sheet. The results of the study indicated that there was no significance difference in the enchancement between student who recieved WAW and student who recieve discovery learing. Keywords: Problem-Based Learning “What’s Another Way”, Discovery Learning, and Mathematics Creative Thinking Ability

The students’ mathematical creative thinking ability which were not optimal became the reason for conducting this study. It was a quasi-experimental research through problem-based learning “what’s another way” and discovery learning. In this case, the population of the study were all seven grade students in a junior high schools in Pekalongan regency with two classes as the sample. The data were gathered by employing three research instruments such as mathematics creative thinking ability test, teaching materials, and observation sheet. The results of the study indicated that there was no difference between the achievement and the enhancement of the students’ mathematical creative thinking ability in two experimental classes. Besides, the overall students’ activities in both the class employing problem-based learning “what’s another way” and the class employing discovery learning had been very good.

The aim of this study was determine the differences of the ability of mathematical creative thinking and the differences in the increase between classes using Problem Based Learning (control class) and the class that uses a model of Problem Based Learning with tangram. The research method used is quasi experimental design of non-equivalent pre-test-post-test control group design. The population in this study were all students of class VII junior high school in Kuningan in the even semester of the academic year 2017/2018. Through purposive sampling technique, 2 classes of 10 classes were selected as samples where the class VIIA as the control class and VIIB as experimental class with a total sample of 70 students. Data collection techniques were obtained through mathematical creative thinking ability test and data analysis technique included normality test, homogeneity test, and t test. The results showed that there were difference in mathematical creative thinking ability and there were difference in the increase between the classes using Problem Based Learning and the classes using a model of Problem Based Learning with tangram.

Has be done research about the effect of Problem Based Learning model on students’ creative thinking abilityin SMAS Katolik St. John Paul II maumere. This type of research is a quasi experiment with the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampling is done by nonprobability sampling technique, (class XI MIA 1 and class XI MIA), which is satueated sampling where all populations are sampled. The creative thinking ability of students in this study were collected with creative thinking ability test in the form of essay test consisted 10 items and observation sheets. The result showed that : 1) the average score of creative thinking ability from students who take learning using Problem Based Learning model are 73.80; 2) the average score of creative thinking ability from students who take learning with Expository Learning model are 65.97; 3) there are differences in creative thinking ability significantly between students who learn to use the Problem Based Learning model with students who learn to use Expository Learning model. Students who learned Problem Based Learning model show better think creative than who learned Expository Learning model. Thus, Proble, Based Learning model influences students creative thinking abilities.

Abstract:  This research aims to determine the effectiveness of Problem Based Learning on the creative thinking ability of students of Mathematics Education Program of UIN Mataram. The approach used is quantitative with the type of experimental research. The sampling technique was done by cluster random sampling. The population of this research is student of 3rd grade of 108 students with class IIIA sample as much as 26 students as experiment class, and class IIIB as many as 24 students as control class. Post-test results show that the average grade of the experimental class is 71,54 and the average value of the control class is 63,35. The t-test analysis is obtained t-count = 2,55 at dk = n1+n2-2, 24 + 26-2 = 48 and t-table = 5% (t0,05;48) = 1,95. So at dk = 48, t-count > t-table = 2,55 > 1,95. The conclusion is H0 rejected and Ha accepted, in other words Problem Based Learning is effective towards the creative thinking ability of students of Mathematics Education Program of UIN Mataram.

This study aimed to describe the effectiveness and differences of scientific approach with open-ended problem based learning worksheet and scientific approach. The population in this study was students of class VII of SMP Negeri 17 Pamulang, South Tangerang. The sample of this study was determined randomly. They were two classes and the results were VII.3 and VII.4. To determine the effectiveness, one sample t-test was used. To discover the difference of effectiveness, MANOVA (Hotteling's Trace) test was used. The results show that (1) Scientific approach with open-ended problem based learning worksheet and scientific approach are effective viewed from learning achievement, creative thinking ability, interests and mathematic self-efficacy (2) There is no difference in effectiveness between scientific approach with open-ended problem based learning worksheet with scientific approach viewed from learning achievement, creative thinking ability, interests and mathematic self-efficacy (3) Scientific approach with open-ended problem based learning worksheet are more effective than scientific approaches viewed from student achievement

The new curriculum (K13) requires a teacher to develop students’ ability in order to learn and fully understand Mathematics. The important abilities needed for a student in understanding Mathematics are the creative thinking and self-confidence. The certain study is essential in order to enhance students’ ability of mathematical creative thinking and self-confidence. Challenge-Based Learning is not only demanding a student to discover a solution to a problem, but also to be confident in what he has done. The qualitative method is used in this research to describe the students’ mathematical creative thinking ability and self-confidence. The subjects are six students chosen from 21 students of seventh grade at one of Junior High Schools in Aceh, Indonesia. They are the student with high, moderate, and low creative thinking ability. The research instrument is a test for creative thinking ability, a questionnaire of self-confidence and an interview guideline. The result indicates that the students with high and moderate level meet at least three indicators of creative thinking ability. They are also confident in solving the problem. In contrast, the student with low level did not reach any indicators of creative thinking ability and have poor self-confidence.  Keywords: Challenge-based Learning, Creative thinking ability, Self-confidence.
