Emergency remote teaching due to the Covid-19 pandemic has fast-tracked the need for transformation of distance learning, amplified issues of access and equity, and exposed the necessity to assure and ensure quality distance learning. This study applied a qualitative literature and material review by using the MAXQDA-analysis method to identify whether the current measures (following Covid-19 protocol) are accessible to all students at the right time and establishing links regarding access equity and quality. The results revealed that online distance education is a strategy to be enhanced towards ensuring credible distance learning. The results show the intersection and fit of access, equity, and quality in distance learning as perpetual social justice issues. Online education and what is required to make it accessible, related online learning material that is accessible for all, and needy students’ support should therefore be prioritised.

In this article, the current situation in the field of Education, which occupies the last place in the field of online distance education, will reveal in detail the current problems of online distance education.It took place all over the world.In the context of the epidemiological situation, all of us will have to serve and live in a new way. Today, there are almost no people who are not affected by these changes. Each of us must adapt to these changes and switch to a habitual way of life. First of all, the education system for children, including the entire population, will have to be transformed and transformed. Distance learning will have to be transformed not only from a technical point of view, but also from a pedagogical and psychological point of view. Teachers, students, and parents-all participants in the relationship of the education system, even the distance learning system, need psychological support.Coronavirus-the word was a word that took place in the language and mind of every inhabitant of the planet. The pandemic, which has engulfed the entire world, has not only destroyed the usual daily lifestyle, but also caused fear and anxiety in people's lives. Online education has developed over the past two decades, initially in response to a desire to provide distance learning opportunities at degree level for remote communities. The University of the Highlands and Islands [UHI] in Scotland has been at the forefront of this. It has been possible to gain degrees using wholly online learning and teaching processes since 1995. In recent years, institutions across the globe have developed learning materials for online learning in order to both supplement the teaching and learning in face-to-face classes and to enable students to undertake entire programmes using online communications. The most recent developments have been in the advent of MOOCS and SPOCS. This paper seeks to (1) give an overview of the past 20 years of developments in online education, (2) provide a detailed review of recent research relating to standards, satisfaction and effectiveness of online education, (3) consider the costs and benefits across a range of definitions of online education and (4) examine the primary challenges, conflicts and opportunities for online distance learning and teaching in relation to the issues faced by students, educators and institutions.

Abstract Social presence is a central concept relating to interpersonal aspects in online distance learning. However, the conditions and determinants of its emergence are not yet fully understood. As a construct rooted in social psychology, the potential of individual differences predicting perceptions of social presence has been largely neglected, thus, constituting a gap in our understanding. In a sample of 201 online distance education students, the merits of a trait-level view of social presence were investigated. To this end, personality was assessed using the Big Five personality inventory, exploring both a dimensional and a typological approach. Results suggest that specific personality typologies may be more prone to perceptions of social presence, thus calling for an extension of our theoretical modeling of the construct.

The online distance education program, Teacher-Librarianship by Distance Learning, was developed and implemented in the Department of Elementary Education at the University of Alberta, Canada beginning in 1996. At the time, neither the university nor the department had the interest, funding or infrastructure required for such an undertaking, but these developed over time through a combination of careful planning and serendipity. The program’s instructional team has utilized various approaches to establish, maintain and continue the program: a distance education theoretical framework, analysis of distance education research, one-time government incentive funding, and on-going policy relevant research and evidence-based practice. Current challenges facing the organization are program growth, new and emerging technologies, and maintaining flexibility. The solutions to these challenges include a cohort model for the majority of program delivery; a stand-alone course introducing new and emerging technologies as a launching pad for integration of these technologies; and graduate certificate programs for meeting the short term needs of teachers new to the field.

All People Internet University (“hhh”) technology is a hybrid distance education approach that provides students with opportunities to explore real-world issues through authentic learning experiences within collaborative learning environments. This chapter defines this online distance education approach, outlines an “hhh” framework, and showcases an “hhh” archetype. In “hhh” environments, classroom teachers are not positioned in the role of teacher/facilitator/designer in the online learning spaces. The “hhh” online spaces are collaborative spaces where students, teachers, subject experts, and “hhh” team members interact with one another; these are community spaces where traditional hierarchical classroom roles are blurred. Students’ roles transform due to the flexibility and design of the “hhh” learning environments as they move from student to reflective practitioner, providing for new ways of learning and teaching.

Many colleges and universities are expanding their current online offerings and creating new programs to address growing enrollment. Institutions often utilize online education as a method to serve more students while lowering instructional costs. While online education may be more cost effective in some situations, college decision makers need to consider the full range of cost implications associated with these online offerings. The unbundling of faculty roles in online distance education programs is one cost consideration that is often overlooked. As the faculty role has become more distributed, so have the costs associated with providing instruction and instructional support. This paper reviews the hidden costs associated with the unbundling of the faculty role and presents a framework for calculating the true costs of the unbundled faculty role.

Technology development have affected educational delivery around the world. The utilization and implementation of online learning is rising at a staggering manner. Online Distance learning has become an urgent need recently. The use of distance learning has appeared in the past ten years, the learning has been extended by the technology from classrooms in the schools into online learning. The article is devoted to the problem of assessing the effectiveness of the online distance learning format, based on the results of work during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of the article is to identify specific problems faced by students of various education profiles: natural science and humanitarian. The objectives of the article are to analyze the scientific literature on the research topic, as well as present the results of the empirical research conducted by the authors among two groups of respondents. The methodology of the article is based on a systematic approach and includes a group of general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, deduction, induction), as well as special methods: content analysis of scientific literature on the research topic, the method of sociological research (questionnaire survey), as well as the method of statistical analysis. Based on the results of the study, the authors came to the following conclusions: the online format of distance learning is not compatible with a number of natural science disciplines, which leads to a sharp decrease in the quality of education, especially in the field of applied sciences.

The corona (Covid-19) pandemic caused the closure of kindergarten institutions and schools around the world which forced higher authorities to shift focus towards online distance education. The impact of the pandemic was so severe that it affected almost a quarter of the people lives, public health and above all the education sectors. The present study was designed according to the Servqual Model using sample perceptions of early childhood parameters in Saudi Arabia and Jordan utilizing online questionnaires to collect the responses from 157 teachers.  The quality of the online education services provided for primary school children due to Covid-19 suffered greatly as the teachers were not accustomed to the technology of distance learning. The present study recommends the need to explore the research of the high level for primary school children’s study tool where teachers and parents will be able to deal with online platforms effectively. During the present unavoidable crisis, the article presents an easier and equitable platform for every child in the family.

The purpose of the article is to carry out theoretical analysis and synthesis of prospects for the development of distance learning in Ukraine, to consider the main current problems of distance education in Ukraine, to analyze the main factors hindering the introduction of distance learning, to draw attention to the need for computer literacy distance learning methodologies, in particular a unified, systematic, nationwide approach to organization, coordination and control in this area. The research methodology consists in analytical method, method of structural-functional analysis, phenomenological method, method of content analysis, method of general philosophical reflection, basic sociological methods (questionnaires, interviews). The scientific novelty of the research lies in clarifying the current state of integration of distance learning in Ukrainian schools and clarifying the features of the process of introducing distance learning in general. The article also analyzed the works of foreign fundamentalist scientists in the field of distance learning and partially substantiated the feasibility of their implementation in the domestic system of distance learning. Based on the study, innovative hypotheses have been put forward regarding the factors (individual, collective and social) that inhibit the introduction of distance learning and often lead to its inefficiency and formalization, which in the future can be a reference point for future scientific research.
