One of nutritional problems experienced by toddlers is stunting, which is a short or very short body condition in children due to chronic malnutrition that occurs from pregnant women to children aged 2 years. Nutrition education is a method and effort to increase knowledge of nutrition and eating behavior in order to create optimal nutritional status. Education for the “My Plate” poster is important for pregnant women to implement a healthy diet and to meet daily nutritional needs as an effort to prevent stunting. This research was conducted by interview method. From the result of this research, a poster of “My Plate-Pregnant Women” has been designed as a nutrition education media.   Keywords: Nutriotion Education Poster, Pregnant Women, Stunting

AbstractBackgroundAdolescent girls are vulnerable to many problems, undernutrition being the most common. This results in growth restriction resulting in stunting, wasting, underweight and last but not the least iron-deficiency anaemia. Nutritional needs are high during puberty which later leads to complications during pregnancy and its outcomes.Materials and methodsA field based cross-sectional study was carried out to assess the nutritional status of the girls and to determine the various factors responsible for undernutrition. After clearance from the Institution Ethical Committee (IEC) and permission from Child Development Programme Officer (CDPO), the study was conducted in the anganwadi centres (AWC) of urban slums in the field practice area of the Department of Community Medicine from the 1st October 2014 to the 31st October 2016. All the adolescent girls enlisted in the seven anganwadi centres were included as study subjects with their consent. A pre-designed, pre-tested and semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect data on following sections. (a) socio-demographic profile and (b) nutritional status. Dietary intake was taken using the 24-h recall method. Anthropometry was measured and haemoglobin (Hb) was estimated. SPSS version 21 was used for descriptive and analytic statistics.ResultsAmong the 160 girls 98(61.3%), 69(43.1%), 53(33.1%) were underweight, stunted and wasted, respectively. Anaemia was present among 144(90%) of the girls.ConclusionStrict monitoring of weekly iron and folic acid supplementation (WIFS) as well as nutrition education are essential measures to solve the problem of undernutrition among adolescent girls.

Nutrition is a process of using food that is consumed normally. Nutrition in pregnancy is a healthy and balanced diet that must be consumed during pregnancy. Assessment of the nutritional status of pregnant women can be known by the presence of weight gain during pregnancy, measuring the upper arm circumference (LILA), and measuring Hb. Nutrition plays a major role in maternal and child health. Poor maternal nutritional status will affect growth and development during pregnancy. The benefits of balanced nutrition during pregnancy are meeting the nutritional needs of the mother and fetus, achieving nutritional status under normal circumstances. Maternal weight before pregnancy and weight gain during pregnancy is less (underweight) or more (overweight) than normal will make pregnancy a risk (low risk). This study aims to determine the knowledge of pregnant women about nutrition during pregnancy in Sialang Jaya Village in 2021, the research method used is a descriptive method with a cross sectional research design. The population in this study were pregnant women, with a sample of 30 respondents. Sampling using Total Sampling. In this study, the measuring instrument used was in the form of a questionnaire as many as 20, while the data analysis was carried out by univariate analysis which resulted in a frequency distribution. The results showed that based on the knowledge of 30 respondents who had good knowledge as many as 3 respondents (10.0%), 13 respondents with sufficient knowledge (43.3%), and those with less knowledge were 14 respondents (46.7%). The conclusion from the research conducted by researchers is that the average knowledge of pregnant women about nutrition during pregnancy in Sialang Jaya Village 2021 is less knowledgeable. To increase knowledge, pregnant women should get information directly from health workers, social media, the environment and others related to pregnant women.

Background The Government of Bangladesh implemented a comprehensive nutrition intervention in 1997 to reduce the rates of malnutrition among women and children. The pilot program, the Bangladesh Integrated Nutrition Program (BINP), adopted a multisectoral approach targeting women and children through food supplementation, home gardening, and health and nutrition education. Objective This paper estimates the effectiveness of BINP's food supplementation and nutrition education on the nutritional status of pregnant women. Methods Three effectiveness measures were considered: target efficiency, improvements in the nutritional status of beneficiaries, and the persistence of nutritional effects. To isolate the effects of the intervention, the nutritional status of participants and nonparticipants was compared after controlling for various demographic and socioeconomic characteristics. Data were collected in 2000 from a random sample of 3,262 households in a BINP intervention area. Results Thirty-nine percent of pregnant women were correctly targeted by the program's food supplementation activities. The nutrition program reduced the prevalence of thinness among participant pregnant women by about 3 percentage points per month of enrollment. The prevalence of thinness among program graduates was 62%, which was much higher than that of the matched (nonparticipant) group (35%). This finding is perplexing but it may simply imply that those who enrolled at the initial phase of the project were severely underweight and they fell back to their original status within a short period of time. Conclusions The nutrition program was intended to improve the nutritional status of women in the longer run through the provision of nutrition education during the food supplementation phase. The prevalence of thinness or severe underweight in women who exited the program after completion of the enrollment period was found to be much higher than in women of similar age and socioeconomic status in the community. This apparent lack of persistence of program benefits requires careful re-evaluation of alternative mechanisms for improving the long-term nutritional status of women.

Body condition score (BCS) is both a good indicator of the past nutritional status of a cow and a way to determine future nutritional needs. The BCS technique is easy to learn and can help with management decisions. This new 5-page fact sheet discusses reasons to measure BCS, ways to evaluate BCS, and important assessment times. Introduction: Pregnancy is a physiological condition experienced by women after marriage. Physical changes and development occur in pregnant women can determine the health conditions of the mother and fetus. Nutritional status of the mother is one of an important key factors in pregnancy. The objective of this study determines the relationship between daily nutritional consumption of family and weight addition on pregnant. Methods: The design used in this study is correlational with cross sectional approach and the data obtained through questionnaires and documentary studies. Data analysis was carried out either quantitatively using Spearman rank or qualitative to deepen the findings in the field. Results: The results of this study found that the P-value 0.002 which means there is a relationship between the nutritional consumption with the nutritional status of pregnant women. The correlation coefficient was 0.309 which means a moderate relationship with positive correlation value implied that the better daily nutritional consumption of family, the higher nutritional status of pregnant women. Conclusions: Understanding the nutritional needs of pregnant women requires good cooperation between family and health workers.
