The topic 'Sulfa-Drugs in secondary school chemistry' has been developed in cooperation of three high schools (Kantonsschulen). Three essential aspects are covered that ideally complement each other: 1. The synthesis of sulfamethoxazole – an antibiotic 'without side effects' – as a practical course in a school laboratory; 2. An introduction to the topic 'drug design' with the question of structure, effect and side effects of sulfonamides; 3. A detailed answer to the question of how side effects can be avoided by the design of drugs using molecular modelling. Teaching materials on all topics can be downloaded free of charge from Swisseduc. ch (see box). The article discusses various possible approaches in high school chemistry along the lines of a well-established teaching unit on sulfonamides.

This article describes the construction of a giant protein (‘Boris’) and illustrates how by making molecular models secondary school and college students can learn hands on how drug systems and proteins interact in drug therapy treatments within the human body.

Vocational High School (SMK) is held as a secondary school from SMP / MTs in accordance with their talents, interests and abilities in order to meet the needs / job opportunities that are and will develop in the area. Maximizing the potential of vocational schools can be done by carrying out the public relations function to shape the image and reputation of the school so that it is able to compete with high schools (SMA). Especially in SMK N 4 Pekanbaru which has great potential to be socialized to the public. In connection with the Public Relations Study Program is committed to contributing with institutions including schools to be able to carry out their public relations functions properly.

Problematizes the production of the area of work and education, has emphasized the use of the concept of duality to explain the Secondary School; identifies the introduction of this concept in Brazilian literature and its theoretical influences; from what it defends its validity, but also its insufficiency. Also taking the concept of inequality as an additional reference concludes that the reform tends to deepen the educational inequalities, hierarchizing the schools and precarious even more the training offered by public high schools of the state networks, making it difficult to the future of poor young people. Keywords: Secondary School. The importance of acquiring information literacy (IL) knowledge and skills in high schools as a prerequisite to entering colleges and universities has been well-documented in the literature (e.g., Cahoy, 2002; Fitzgerald, 2004; Saunders, Severyn, & Caron, 2017). This paper investigates the IL knowledge of Canadian and international high school graduates, as they enter a university in Canada. More specifically, the focus is on information seeking behaviour (ISB), part of the Access and Evaluation stages of the IL spectrum (Sparks, Katz, & Beile, 2016).

Laboratory is a facility to support the activities of learning in school, every high school should has a good laboratory management to support biology learning activities. This study aimed to analyze the biology laboratory management that has been done by the senior high school laboratory manager in the district of Batanghari in Jambi province. The research is descriptive study; the research subjects are research laboratory heads and teachers of biology. The laboratory management analysis includes aspects of planning, organizing, structuring, administering, and securing. In this study the data obtained from observation, questionnaire, interview, and documentation. The obtained data were analyzed descriptively. Overall, two schools are categorized as excellence (SMAN A; 89.2 % and SMAN B; 87.9%); two schools are in very good category (SMAN C; 78.2% and SMAN D; 78.0%); and two schools are in the last category (enough category) includes SMAN E (66.8%) and SMAN F (61.5%). Moreover some aspect of biology laboratory management in senior high schools are not well managed yet. Based on the results it is suggested that laboratory managers should improve the laboratory facilities as well as their competencies in managing the laboratory. Moreover, senior high schools should employ laboratory technicians and laboran to assist the task of laboratory heads and teachers to produce a more effective laboratory management

The seventh art forms an essential part of the students’ daily lives; additionally, it has been asserted that it is a highly advantageous didactic tool for high school foreign language learners. Thus, the purpose of this empirical study is twofold: to explore high school learners’ perception on the didactic exploitation of films in the French classroom, and to determine whether or not the cinema-based approach is as beneficial for high school French students as it seems. Accordingly, a cinema-based teaching unit was put into practice in two high school French classrooms and, afterwards, the thirty-five participants were asked to fill in a questionnaire in order to examine their views on this methodology and analyse its effects on their language learning process. The results obtained have revealed that high school French students have a very positive opinion on the cinema-based approach and that this method is motivating and helps learners to enhance their linguistic and sociocultural competences.

In this work we intend to share an educational path on mathematical games developed in the last classes of the high schools that participate to the research-project Mathematical High School Project, a project elaborated by the research group in mathematics education of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Salerno (Italy) and dedicated to scientific high school students. The "Historical path in mathematical games" is a didactic laboratory activity dedicated to students of the last year of scientific high schools. The researchers collaborated with the teachers of the schools and carried out an interdisciplinary path on puzzles and logic games invented or reworked by important mathematicians of the last two centuries. Through these themes that were scientific, historical, artistic, musical, literary ones, connections have been created thank to the presentation of texts, images, paintings, drawings, musical and literary pieces.

AbstractIn this work we present two teaching modules, based on the combination of Scratchboard and Scratch, to be used for the study of materials' thermal properties such as thermal conductivity and heat capacity. These properties are very important for the understanding of many applications. In the design of the modules we have taken into account two scenarios, one for elementary and secondary school students and one for high school students. This determines not only the type of measurement and the analysis of the data but also the Scratch interface. The main emphasis for the lower grades is placed on the introduction of the concepts and a demonstration of the differences of the properties of different materials, while for the upper grades for making accurate measurements through inquiry based projects. Both modules have been implemented in a high school laboratory, providing reliable measurements and engaging the students in a higher level than usually.

In Turkish educational system, students’ secondary school grade point average (GPA) scores constitute the basic criteria in determining the high schools they will next attend. Students, who start their high school careers based on this grade, receive their education together with peers who have similar GPA scores. In these pivotal years which play a significant role in developing character, teenagers not only affect each other through interaction, but also shape their likes and dislikes collectively during this high school period. Music interest in students is also shaped during this process. This descriptive study has been conducted at nine high schools in central Konya. The sample group includes a total of 626 students, 195 of whom are from three high schools with high GPA scores, 193 from three high schools with average GPA scores, and 238 from three high schools with low GPA scores. The results of the study reveal not only certain similarities between the student groups, but also significant difference between the groups in terms of the will to play a musical instrument, the music genres the students prefer to listen, singers and bands the students follow, and whether or not to choose music as a career path.
