When studying the biological diversity of the fauna of any territory and, in particular, the territory of a national nature park as a protected area, first of all, it is necessary to conduct an inventory of its individual components, as well as to prepare and publish summary reports. One of the important components of the entomofauna of any biotope or geographic region is Aculeata. When designing and creating the national nature park “Dvorichanskyi”, this group was not studied at all. Systematic studies of Aculeata were started by us in 2015. Traditional entomological methods of individual capture and Mörike traps were used for the studies. Studies were conducted on sandy wastelands with sparse vegetation, edges of pine and deciduous forests on the river Oskil terrace, steppe areas of limestone slopes, and in human settlements. The purpose of the study was an inventory of the family Scoliidae in the specified area. In general, 10 species of Scoliidae are known for Ukraine, and 9 for its continental part. The publication presents the results of our field studies on the territory of the national nature park “Dvorichanskyi” in 2015–2018 as an annotated list of six species of Scoliidae (Colpa (Colpa) sexmaculata (Fabricius, 1781), Colpa (Heterelis) quinquecincta (Fabricius, 1793), Megascolia (Regiscolia) maculata (Drury, 1773), Scolia (Discolia) hirta (Schrank, 1781), Scolia (Scolia) galbula (Pallas, 1771), Scolia (Scolia) sexmaculata (O.F.Müller, 1766)) from three genera (Colpa Dufour, 1841; Megascolia Betrem, 1928; Scolia Fabricius, 1775). One species, Megascolia maculata, is listed in the Red Book of Ukraine (2009) with the status “non-evaluated”. The list contains geographical data of research sites, information on biotope, and preliminary information on species abundance. The list is based on the author’s own specimens and observations. Literature sources and collections of the Museum of Nature of the Vasyl Karazin Kharkiv National University were studied. A brief history of studies of the modern territory of Kharkov region by scientists of the XIX century P.V.Ivanov, N.F.Beletsky, and V.A.Yaroshevsky is outlined.

Complete lists of biota are the scientific foundation on which studies of the regional biological diversity are based. Modern research based on new methods and approaches has contributed to formation of a new classification scheme of Cyanobacteria, which reveals the evolutionary history of the group. In this context, there is a need to revise data on the species composition of Cyanobacteria of various biotopes, which is especially important for protected areas. The article presents the results of the species composition revision of the supralittoral Cyanobacteria from the Nature Reserve “Cape Martyan” (de facto it has the status of a nature park now). The studies were carried out on the site of a natural boulder-block shore located directly on Cape Martyan, in the supralittoral zone of the sea. Updated list of Cyanobacteria from marine rocky supralittoral in the Nature Reserve “Cape Martyan” consists of 69 species. Species are representatives of 1 class, 2 subclasses, 6 orders, 18 families and 35 genera. The Oscillatoriaceae and Rivulariaceae families are represented the most diversely. Chroococcus, Lyngbya and Gloeocapsa dominate among the genera. The category of rare species includes 21 taxa, which makes up a third of the species list. Biological and ecological characteristics were given for the studied species. The supralittoral Cyanobacteria of Nature Reserve “Cape Martyan” is characterized by the predominance of attached benthic, benthic-soil and plankton-benthic forms, as well as marine and brackish-water forms, which is a typical feature of supralittoral microalgoflora. At the same time, the predominance of cosmopolitans and wide-range boreal-tropical species emphasizes the azonality of the biotope of the marine rocky supralittoral.

The genus Rhododendron belongs to the family Ericaceae and was described by Carl Linnaeus in 1737 in Genera Plantarum. Joseph Hooker’s visit to Sikkim Himalaya between 1848 and 1850 unfold the rhododendron world of this area. Within the brief span that he travelled in Sikkim, he gathered and described 34 new species and details of 43 species including varieties from the Indian region in his monograph entitled ‘Rhododendron of Sikkim Himalaya’. Since then many workers had added to the list, and currently about 121 taxa have been recorded from India, out of which 117 (98%) taxa are distributed in north-east India. The paper presents the distribution of the genus Rhododendron in north-east India and world based on literature, field studies and examination of herbarium specimens. The article presents the results of the research of rare and protected species of wetlands places flora of the Kharkiv region. According to the field studies results, literary sources analysis and materials of the CWU and KW herbarium, it has been established that at least 225 species of vascular plants are present in the flora of wetlands places. The annotated list of rare and protected species of flora of wetlands places in the region has been made. It contains 41 species. For each species, the status of protection is defined. 32 species are identified as insufficiently studied and requiring detailed research and estimation of their sozological significance, in order to determine the need for their protection at the regional level. In total, 15 species from the identified are listed in the Red Data Book of Ukraine: Lycopodiella inudata (L.) (Holub); Drosera anglica Huds.; Cirsium heterophyllum (L.) Hill; Caldesia parnassifolia (L). Parl.; Fritillaria meleagroides Patrin ex Schult. et Schul. fil.; Fritillaria meleagris L.; Anacamptis coriophora (L.) R.M.Bateman; Anacamptis palustris (Jacq.) R.M.Bateman, Pridgeon & M.W.Chase; Dactylorchiza fuchsii (Druce) Soo; Dactylorchiza incarnata (L.) Soo; Dactylorchiza majalis (Reichenb.) P.F.Hunt et Summer.; Epipactis palustris (L.) Crantz; Hammarbya paludosa (L.) O.Kuntze); Liparis loeselii (L.) Rich.; Scheuchzeria palustris L. 26 species are from the List of plant species which need the special protection in the territory of the Kharkiv region. One species is endemic (Rorippa brachycarpa (C.A.Mey) Hayek), one species is the tertiary relic (Caldesia parnassifolia (L.) Parl.). Five species of wetlands places flora (Anacamptis coriophora (L.) R.M.Bateman; Anacamptis palustris (Jacq.) R.M.Bateman, Pridgeon & M.W.Chase; Dactylorchiza fuchsii (Druce) Soo; Dactylorchiza majalis (Reichenb.) P.F.Hunt et Summer.; Liparis loeselii (L.) Rich.) are listed in the CITES; three species (Dactylorchiza incarnata (L.) Soo; Epipactis palustris (L.) Crantz.; Hammarbya paludosa (L.) O.Kuntze) are listed in the CITES Appendix ІІ. Two species (Caldesia parnassifolia (L.) Parl., Liparis loeselii (L.) Rich.) are listed in the Annex I of the Berne Convention. Communities of Glycerieta arundinaceae are listed in the Green Book of Ukraine. Six associations and formations are rare plant communities of the Green list of the Kharkiv region. It has been established that in total under the protection are 41 species of vascular plants of wetlands places flora that is 18.2% of the total number of species attributed to this ecological group, or 3.2% of the total Kharkiv region flora.

The Balinese customary law community recognizes kepurusa system; the status of boys is steady, while the status of girls changes, because women after marriage follow their husbands. On that basis, daughters in kepurusa system are never traced or taken into account in inheritance. The purpose of this study is to examine the legal status and the legal position of mulih daha woman in Penarungan Village, Mengwi, Badung, Bali. The method used in this study is an empirical method. Furthermore, this study was carried out by means of field studies, namely by conducting field observations and interviews with respondents and informants. Based on the analysis, the results of this study showed that the legal status of mulih daha woman is received through a procedure with acceptance by the family on a scale and a niskala ceremony is carried out, namely arranging piuning or notification to the ancestral gods that with a divorce from her husband, her daughter has returned to her parents and ask to be accepted back as a damuh or part of her parents' ancestral family so that she can be held accountable again one day when the woman experiences something related to banjar. The legal position of mulih daha women in inheritance is related to the kinship system adopted by the Hindu community in Bali, namely the patrilineal system (fatherhood) where only boys have the right to inherit while girls have no right to inherit but girls can only enjoy the property.  


Actuality. The floodplain area near the Slobozhansky National Nature Park still does not have a nature reserve status and is under threat of complete destruction. The Merla floodplain is a habitat for a large number of Red Book and Green Book species, a place of migration of many species of European migratory birds, etc. Only the inclusion of the floodplain area into the national nature park will give the possibility to combine the protection of the floodplain nature with the traditional patterns of regional management, without violating the natural balance of the landscapes in the Merla River valley. Purpose. To analyze the ecological value of the the Merla river floodplain for the functioning of the NNP Slobozhansky. Methods. The analytical-synthetic method, geoinformation (cartographic modeling and processing of remote sensing data), a critical analysis of information sources and the results of field studies were used. Results. Based on the analysis of literary and stock materials and our own field studies on the test sites of the floodplain, information was obtained on the floristic diversity of the floodplain, the presence and positional location of red-book and green-book objects within the floodplain was studied, and the natural conditions of the park were assessed. Unique representatives of the flora are observed throughout the national park and on the test sites, a significant amount of which requires special protection and protection. The rare vegetation of alder forests on the floodplain oak forest of the Slobozhansky National Nature Park is represented by groups listed in the Green List of the Kharkov region. Based on the analysis of a digital elevation model of the territory of the NNP Slobozhansky and the Merla river floodplain we can talk about the unity of the geochemical landscape of this territory in terms of all its components, the Merla river valley confirms the genetic and dynamic unity of the NNP landscapes. Conclusion. Based on the results of this study and taking into account the previous achievements of scientists, it is proved that the inclusion of the Merla river floodplain, which is located between the two sites of the Slobozhansky NNP in its composition, will preserve the landscape and biological diversity of the area. This will fulfill the conditions of the National Program of formation of the ecological network of Ukraine and the requirements of its inclusion in the Pan-European eco-network.

The Cryptophagidae collection (Coleoptera: Cucujoidea) deposited at the Zoological Museum of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (ZMKU) is described. The main authors of the collection are well-known researchers from the 1910–1930s, Orest Marcu and Karl Penecke. This is the largest collection of cryptophagids among the natural museums of Ukraine containing 304 specimens belonging to 85 species of 13 genera. In addition, 15 specimens of 5 species belonging to the families Erotylidae, Biphyllidae and Languriidae were among Cryptophagidae specimens. The collection, according to information available in the ZMKU, came to the museum not earlier than 1947 as the indemnity for the results of the II World War, most likely from Chernivtsi, where Marcu and Penecke worked. The vast majority of specimens is collected in the territory of modern Romania and Ukraine, and many specimens came from Chernivtsi. A table with an overview of all key details of the specimens is given, in which there are 6 fields: the name of the species on the label, details on the species identification, number of specimens, collection locality with the name of collector and remarks on the specimen, in particular, the instructions for decoding collection sites from the original labels. Annotations are made on the amount of the collection and the most important specimens and re-identification for each of the 13 genera. Some specimens are lost, probably during numerous collection migrations. In particular, some species (Cryptophagus simplex, C. lapidicola, C. nitidulus, Caenoscelis subdeplanata, Atomaria grandicollis, A. peltata, etc.) are represented in the collection only by the labels. The collection is important for the analysis of the composition of the fauna of the Carpathian region in the broad sense, since some species are encountered in the collection rarely; therefore it is important to clarify their locations to form the most comprehensive list of species of the Cryptophagids in the region. Several species of the family were included on the actual list of the fauna of the region on the basis of the study of this collection, in particular: Atomaria linearis, A. analis, A. apicalis, A. gravidula, Cryptophagus fasciatus, C. setulosus, etc.

The article presents two letters from V.A. Musin-Pushkin which he wrote to his bride shortly before the wedding in 1828 (the letters are kept in the Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts). The text of the letters reflects the context of the time and everyday life, the system of views and the peculiarities of the worldview of a young aristocrat, the specific features of intra-family interaction in the field of feelings, marriage, human relations which inevitably turn out to be associated with the concepts of the family honor, family duty, the need to preserve the status of a noble family. The author traces how the power hierarchy is manifested at the level of relations within a close circle of relatives, as well as how traditional patterns are combined with new elements. Vladimir Alekseevich Musin-Pushkin, the youngest son of the archaeographer Count A.I. Musin-Pushkin, was arrested in connection with the case of the Decembrists, transferred from the Guards to the army and exiled to serve in Finland, where he met his future wife, Emilia Karlovna Shernval von Wallen. The article provides details of the family life of this married couple, as well as private facts from the biography of some other members of the Musin-Pushkin family.


The farming system in West Bengal is being shifted by integration between the set of cash crops and the main food harvest process. This change in diversified farming systems, where smallholders have a production base in rice can complement production; affect technical efficiency and farm performance. The goal of this study was to investigate the status of crop diversification on smallholders in West Bengal. First, crop diversification regions were developed in West Bengal based on the Herfindahl index, which were categorized into three regions. Three sample districts were studied separately at the block level, and 915 small farmers from 41 sample villages of 9 sample blocks were interviewed through a good structure questionnaire for field studies from the sample districts. West Bengal was gradually moving towards multiple crop production. Furthermore, increasing rice production reduced the marginal use of inputs for the production of other crops. Farming and other vital factors such as HYVs area to GCA, average holding size and per capita income in some districts of West Bengal can be identified as determinants of crop diversification.

Bryophytes are the second largest group of land plants and are also known as the amphibians of the plant kingdom. 67 species of bryophytes have been reported from select locations across the state of Gujrat. The status of family fissidentaceae which is a large moss family is being presented in this paper. Globally the family consists of 10 genera but only one genus, Fissidens Hedw. has been collected from Gujarat. Fissidens is characterized by a unique leaf structure and shows the presence of three distinct lamina, the dorsal, the ventral and the vaginant lamina. A total of 8 species of Fissidens have been reported from the state based on vegetative characters as no sporophyte stages were collected earlier. Species reported from the neighboring states also showed the absence of sporophytes. The identification of different species was difficult due to substantial overlap in vegetative characters. Hence a detailed study on the diversity of members of Fissidentaceae in Gujarat was carried out between November 2013 and February 2015. In present study 8 distinct species of Fissidens have been collected from different parts of the state. Three species Fissidens splachnobryoides Broth., Fissidens zollingerii Mont. and Fissidens curvato-involutus Dixon. have been identified while the other five are still to be identified. Fissidens zollingerii Mont. and Fissidens xiphoides M. Fleisch., which have been reported as distinct species are actually synonyms according to TROPICOS database. The presence of sexual reproductive structures and sporophytes for several Fissidens species are also being reported for the first time from the state.
