This work forms part of the R + D + i ‘Training project in Spanish universities for professionals as agents of change in order meet the challenges facing society’ (Educación e Innovación Social para la Sostenibilidad (EDINSOST) 2017–2019). The purpose is to analyse the presence of sustainability in terms of curriculum content and training in competence for students, teachers and the curricula of Science of Education degree courses at the University of Seville. In this context, the curricula of the Degree in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education and Pedagogy have been analysed. Two questionnaires have been drawn up, and four reflection groups have been created—in which, a total of 49 teachers and 170 students have participated. The results show that there is a low presence of sustainability in Science of Education degree courses. The teachers express the opinion that they are engaged in sustainable initiatives and have an interest in ethical models. The students express a high degree of interest in receiving sustainability training. Findings provide information for introducing innovation into the university curriculum and the training of teachers and students in order to improve their competency in sustainability.

The purpose was to analyze the learning processes in virtual education in students of a university in Huacho, 2020, where two categories have been considered: virtual education and skills in the context of this health emergency. From the qualitative approach, the population made up of university students was studied and the effectiveness of virtual education was obtained as a result, considered as a means of interaction between students and teachers despite the limitations: internet access, saturation of the university platform and greater teacher training in the use of technological tools. The category of competencies shows the ignorance of students about generic competences and specific competences, for which it is necessary to reinforce virtual education in the accompaniment and training of teachers and students.

University Extension at the Faculty of Dentistry of the National University of Cordoba has gone through a long process of conceptions, tensions and evolutionary changes with the aim of gradually accompanying the current extension paradigms. Various conceptions have been adapted during this process, giving rise to several significant changes in an attempt to give hierarchy to this pillar of the public university in line with the genuine needs of the community. However, there are still some challenges for the future, for which the participation of its teachers and students will be very important, not only in their permanent education and training, but also in the substantiation of renewed interdisciplinary projects, more and more committed to the social collective.

There have been several studies that have been conducted on employee training and development, both in educational institutions and companies, such as the study conducted by Oktavianus, namely training and development of employees at schools in Indonesia. This study found that in order to help the process of education services, each existing unit must be equipped with competent administrative staff to help teachers and students, even parents for the purpose of the educational service process. Therefore, training and development must be given to these administrative staff so that they can do their jobs properly and correctly. Hence, the purpose of this chapter is to highlight the professional development needs for administrative staff at the Islamic University in Malaysia. Researchers explore the trainings that were provided by the university not only for self-development but also for the benefit of the university to reach its goals.

Studies on knowledge concerning capoeira were distributed for analysis by Silva (2017) in three categories: knowledge related to the production of shows, the production of events and training courses. Based on the analysis of the archives of the Capoeira Água de Beber Cultural Center, between the years 2002 and 2006, we attempted to register the existing relationships between capoeira and the university, that is, how formal and informal knowledge are articulated within the scope of actions undertaken to set up training courses in the group. As a methodological resource, a case study was used, and it can be noticed that the promotion of dialogue between capoeira masters, researchers from different scientific areas and university professors is inserted both in the formation of the capoeira practitioner who intends to act as capoeira teacher or not and in the formation of an audience interested in the study of Brazilian ethnic and racial culture and relations, specifically from Ceará.
