The research problem that this study will address is the limited CRM success of Web-based customer support systems. The first goal of this research will be to develop the Information Systems Hierarchy of Needs Actualization (ISHNA) framework based on Maslow’s general theory of Hierarchy of Needs. The second goal of this research will be to empirically assess and validate the End User Perceived Information System Needs (EUPISN) construct. The third goal of this research will be to empirically assess and validate the relationship between User Information Satisfaction (UIS) and the EUPISN construct. Existent within all mankind are psychological needs that all individuals are driven to meet. UIS has a broad framework of literature available within the Information Systems (IS) realm. The UIS literature has both breadth and depth, in that it has been widely covered and studied since the early days of the IS field. Behaviorist theory and psychological factors are referenced and recognized within UIS and subsequent theory. In fact, UIS also takes into account that psychological factors are integrated into the IS discipline. The implications of the existence of ordered needs that individuals are impelled to meet; either consciously or subconsciously, may be far reaching into the Information Systems domain, and as such, should be studied. This dissertation will establish a framework for the IS needs hierarchy, creating an initial understanding of the relationship between the Maslow Hierarchy of Needs and the IS needs theory; and will further demonstrate relational impacts between the ordered needs. A web-based survey of system users at AmeriCold Logistics will be utilized in this study to empirically assess and validate these relationships.

Abstract Although the impact of dementia on the health and well-being of those living with Alzheimer’s Disease and related Disorders (ADRD) and their care partners has been widely studied, less attention has been paid to how the disease impacts individuals within the context of their larger social networks. This symposium presents findings from a series of integrated studies aimed at strengthening measurement of health and well-being among older adults with living with dementia and well-being among members of their social networks. Findings will be presented from five studies: (1) a scoping review of social network measurement in older adults in chronic illness, including dementia, that emphasizes the use of technology in measuring older adults’ social networks; (2) a simulation study to evaluate the feasibility and reliability of sensor technology to measure social interaction among a person living with dementia and others in their immediate surroundings; (3) development of a web-based application that allows older adults to map and activate their social networks; (4) a qualitative analysis of interviews from persons living with dementia, their unpaid caregivers, and paid caregivers from an adult day health program concerning well-being focused outcomes; and (5) a mixed methods analysis of the feasibility of using both traditional and novel measures of health and well-being deployed among networks of people living with dementia. Emerging technologies for measuring social networks health and well-being hold promise for advancing the study of the relationship-based nature of care for people living with dementia.

Information systems development takes place within an economical context. However, the economical conditions, which shape systems development in practice, are hardly researched. In this paper we are investigating the question how a given price structure influences systems development projects. Our analysis is based on a multi case study and a Grounded Theory inspired research approach. Our work is informed by economic theories, which deal with the relationship of suppliers and customers and their mutual dependency. We thus apply principal-agent theory and economic game theory in form of the prisoner’s dilemma. As a result we provide three interlinked models for understanding the impact of pricing structure on systems development practice. The main elements of these models are pricing structure, risk distribution and price level, and opportunistic behavior. We discuss how these elements are interrelated and examine their impact on information systems development in practice.

People develop attitudes toward things in many ways. While direct experience can be the foundation of permanent attitude formation, both indirect experience and referential input from others are strong influences on both attitude development and changes in personal attitude. The psychological factors that govern attitude are varied. They are documented in the scholarly literature of many fields, and frequently reference the study of people and technology. Research in the use of information systems (IS), however, does not typically aggregate the psychological factors influencing user attitude. The purpose of this chapter is to bring together the divergent empirical evidence of IS user attitude formation. A grounded theory approach is used to formally identify and analyze this evidence. Such analysis can provide a more cohesive understanding of what is known about user attitudes toward information systems, and can offer an ontological framework for more formalized study of the relationship between people and information systems.

Kata kunci: Teknologi Maklumat, sistem maklumat, sistem perakaunan pengurusan, sistem maklumat perakaunan, industri kecil dan sederhana This paper reports the results of a study which offers an explanation for the relationship between Information Technology (IT) sophistication and performance of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), by incorporating into the model of the capability of management accounting systems to generate management accounting information (MAS capacity). To assess the relationship, data were collected from 310 (25% response rate) SMEs by way of questionnaire surveys. The results indicate that IT sophistication is a determinant of MAS capacity, which, in turn, is a determinant of firm performance. In other words, MAS capacity plays a mediating role in the relationship between IT sophistication and firm performance. An interpretation of the results is that those firms that employed sophisticated IT can generate sufficient management accounting information and thereby improve performance. Key words: Information Technology, information systems, management accounting system, accounting information systems, small and medium enterprises

Due to the rapid transformation of the digitization era, we witness the emergence of some products in conjunction with the transformation. Especially, from the financial perspective, Bitcoin is one of the most remarkable examples of digital cryptocurrencies based on blockchain. The research problem of this study revolves around the concept of blockchain and its impact on the Shariah ruling for Bitcoin. Thus, this study aims to analyze the relationship between blockchain and cryptocurrencies to address the impact of Shariah ruling in digital technologies. To obtain the objectives of this research, a descriptive and inductive analysis approach is adopted. The findings of the study show that blockchain technology is worthy of benefits while it has advantages as well as disadvantages that require to be resolved. The Shariah ruling of blockchain depends on its applications, and it (Shariah ruling) varies from case to case since it is a tool and open source for all. In addition, considering the strength of technology and its advantages does not suffice to consider that technology being permissible from the Shariah perspective.

This study uses a conceptual research model to explore the mediating role of need satisfaction for competence, relatedness, and autonomy in the relationship between pro-environmental preference (PEP) and consumers’ perceived well-being (PWB). The data were collected on WJX (a Chinese online recruitment platform) from a sample of 514 respondents and analyzed using Smart PLS 3. The results indicated that two need satisfactions (competence and autonomy) fully mediate the relationship between PEP and consumers’ PWB. However, surprisingly, relatedness need satisfaction has no mediation effect in the relationship between PEP and consumers’ PWB. The results demonstrate the pivotal role of self-determination theory in explaining the primary psychological needs that must be met for consumers to perceive heightened states of well-being. Moreover, the results can signify to policymakers how to translate the impact of PEP into consumers’ PWB.

Information systems have evolved into ubiquitous, Web-based technologies that eliminate the boundaries of time and space, and support higher levels of social interaction. In order to achieve the highest return from information systems, organizations must match the capabilities of technology with their environment. This research proposes a model of Organization-Information System Fit based on task-technology fit and theories of user acceptance. Organization-information system fit may be achieved by balancing technical fit and user fit. Technical fit can be characterized as congruence among process-technology fit and task-technology fit. The idea of user fit is introduced as a moderator of the relationship between technical fit and utilization. Higher degrees of both technical fit and user fit should result in positive impacts on utilization and performance.
