The paper studies the problem of interaction of people from various countries and cultures in the conditions of cultural globalization, which creates new problems of cultural adaptation. The paper explores the concepts of «communication», «intercultural communication». The problem of forming the ability of the individual to effective intercultural communication as a means of understanding the mental characteristics of different cultures, which is a guarantor of effective dialogue of cultures in the modern world. The characteristics of intercultural misunderstandings in the process of communication was submitted. Communication as a reflection of the intercultural ties of specific groups of people in a particular period of historical development of society is studied. Intercultural communication in the pedagogical process is also considered as a method of socio-cultural adaptation, due to the interaction of different cultures and the mental characteristics of their carriers. The teacher of Ukrainian (Russian) as a foreign language must be understood that foreign students have already formed ideas about their nation. Therefore, it is important to teach them the differences between cultures, to respect the cultural sensitivities, to overcome stereotypes. Foreign students should learn to understand why people of other cultures must behave in particular way. In the conditions of modern education, when people from various countries with specific features of national character and thinking study in one group, the question of intercultural communication acquires special significance. Cultural diversity implies intercultural enrichment. Shortening of intercultural distance, willingness to adapt to existing realities will provide an opportunity to develop an optimal strategy for collaboration in the group. A dialogue of cultures has contributed progress in universal culture. During the dialogue of culture, there is an acquaintance with another culture and constant development through the mutual enrichment of different cultures.

Theoretical and practical development of the problem of students’ adaptation in a foreign language and multicultural society is one of the key problems of the academic mobility development of the individual throughout life. The need to solve this problem is determined by the socio-cultural dynamics of education development in the context of its global shifts, transformations, and systemic changes. The purpose of the article is to conduct a theoretical analysis of the problem of students' adaptation in the foreign language and multicultural society of the metropolis. The article deals with the problem of cross-cultural adaptation of foreign students in Russian universities to the foreign language and multicultural social medium of the metropolis. The phenomenon of cross-cultural adaptation is studied on an interdisciplinary basis. The authors consider the theoretical approaches to the study of various aspects of cross-cultural adaptation of a person to a foreign language and multicultural society, as well as analyze the educational opportunities and potential of intercultural interaction based on the dialogue of cultures as a mechanism underlying the process of adaptation of students in the foreign language and multicultural society of the metropolis. According to the authors, the success of foreign students’ education is also determined by their readiness to accept the entire cultural diversity of the foreign-speaking world and foreign language culture, as well as their tolerant attitude toward them. The article highlights and characterizes the main directions and specific content of students’ adaptation to foreign language and multicultural society. The authors conclude that cross-cultural adaptation can be an effective way for foreign students to enter the new socio-cultural conditions of the foreign language and multicultural society of the metropolis.

Vocabulary-semantic level of functioning of medical terms in terms system of Ukrainian language has been investigated in the article, in particular phenomena of polysemy, synonyms, antonyms and paronyms, lingual and inter-lingual homonyms of medical terms have been analyzed in the process of their learning by foreign students-medics. It has been specified, that these lingual-semantic phenomena are the reasons of main communicative difficulties during learning of Ukrainian as a foreign language, which cause misunderstandings with language speakers, generate language barriers, that significantly complicates the process of socio-cultural adaptation and formation of professional communicative competency of a foreigner. The attention is accented on both fundamental (theoretical) and applied aspects of investigation of mentioned phenomena in the article. Types of lingual exercises for assimilation of lexical level of professional language have been presented in the article, taking into account outlined lingual-semantic phenomena. Reasons of appearance of polysemy and synonyms of medical terms have been analyzed, it has been defined, that synonyms are the most common ones among all lingual-semantic phenomena. It has been proved, that phenomenon of antonyms promotes systematization of terms, demonstrating symmetry of medical terms system. It has been explained, that studying of units of medical terms system of Ukrainian language by a foreigner depends on the level of professional and linguistic erudition, as well as on lingual intuition of a student. Professional erudition provides understanding of essence of concepts, which are indicated by term, while linguistic erudition provides knowledge of basic lingual laws by a student. The conclusion has been made during the course of investigation, that phenomena of polysemy, synonyms, antonyms, paronyms, lingual and inter-lingual homonyms of medical terms in one hand create difficulties in mastering Ukrainian language in the process of their learning by foreign students-medics, and on the other hand, these phenomena emphasize regularity, logical stipulation and motivation of medical terms system through symmetry of terms, foreigners’ knowledge, sound similarity or identity with international terms system. Due to these phenomena, learning of Ukrainian as a foreign language provides activation of cognitive processes of a student and application of logical, system and thematic principles of studying of lexical terms units.

The article provides a methodological description of a lesson on the discipline "Russian as a foreign language" on socio-cultural topics: "Youth is the future of the planet." This lexical topic is intended for study and discussion by foreign students studying Russian at the basic or first certification level. Depending on the distribution of academic hours for studying the Russian language, this topic can be considered both in the preparatory department and in the 1st or 2nd year. Of course, the topic is fertile enough for discussion at any stage of language learning, however, from the point of view of the socio-cultural adaptation of foreigners, it is advisable to conduct a lesson on such a topic when students acquire sufficient vocabulary, and knowledge of the language reaches a level where the student can ask a question, formulate and argue your point of view. In the methodological development, not only textual material and a system of tasks for the development of speech skills are presented, but also a dictionary of the topic with an optimal set of vocabulary on this topic and a system of grammatical and syntactic exercises. The lexical topic and the entire structure of the lesson allows students not only to exchange opinions, but to look at this problem through the eyes of a Russian-speaking young person, to find common problems for all and ways to solve them.

The relevance of the article is determined by the need to define effective and relevant ways of acquaintance of foreign students with the realities of the new social culture, which will subsequently have a beneficial effect on the learning outcome. The purpose of the article is to systematically present ways of working with quest technology in foreign language classes, which are aimed at increasing the level of socio-cultural adaptation of foreign speakers in the new language and cultural community. The methodology of the present study is civilizational and cultural approaches, the work uses a logical method (theoretical), the study of the experience of educational organizations and personal pedagogical experience at the University (empirical).The author came to the conclusion that the modern educational process of training at the preparatory Department of the University should be aimed not only at achieving the necessary level of linguistic training, but also at the gradual systematic immersion of foreigners in a new socio-cultural environment through language. One of the most popular technologies in pedagogy is the quest that includes both solving a problem task and independent search for information. Educational quest in a foreign language at pre-University stage of education is the most effective, because it can be used at any level of language training, it perfectly solves the problem of language education and formation of speech culture, socio-cultural adaptation of foreign students in the conditions of the new region and explore the national cultural realities that undoubtedly contributes to a better understanding of internal and external communications companies.

The proposed article reveals the issues of professionally oriented teaching in Russian as a foreign language (RFL) for students and postgraduates, considering the difficulties of social and cultural adaptation. The authors show and substantiate the necessity and features of organizing stage-by-stage work with special texts based on the principle of continuity, an algorithm for working with such text materials is proposed, certain types of tasks are given for the formation of the necessary skills among students and graduate students in analytical types of work with text, and further prospects are demonstrated for enhancing the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired during the Russian language classes. The article discusses possible approaches to solve the problems of classroom and independent educational and scientific activities of students in the assimilation and progressive processing of information in the language material of special texts, which will not only improve the language level of students, but also their motivation in linguistic and professional terms.
