Environment is, in general terms, a surrounding or condition influencing development and growth of all the living beings. For the last several decades nature and environment have always been a source of human reflection and investigation as the environmental pollution has reached to such a critical stage that we find ourselves passing through an irreversible climate change and are not able to retrieve the previous climate back. Now the liability lies on the next generation and I am sure that environmental awareness among the senior secondary students will lead the next generation towards restraining the unstoppable environmental changes. It can be said that environmental education is education through environment, about environment and for environment. It is both a style and subject – matter of education. In so far as the style is concerned, it means teaching for environment that include components and issues such as controlling the environment, establishing proper ecological equilibrium which entails proper use and conservation of resources and also involves control of environment is not only functionally useful but is also aesthetically enjoyable.

The authors of this study have attempted to understand whether study habits affect academic achievement among secondary and senior secondary school students of Mysore. It is also attempted to know whether students at secondary level differ from senior secondary level on their study habits. The study was conducted on the sample of 625 students of Mysore City in India using stratified random sampling technique. Results indicated that the study habits facilitate higher academic achievement. Further, it was also found that secondary school students are significantly better than senior secondary students on study habits. The findings are analyzed and explained. Thus, study habit is found to be an important correlate of academic achievement.

Present study explores the aptitude among higher secondary students. It is aimed to find out the effect of stream selection in terms of aptitude. A sample of 100 students has been taken from a government senior secondary school of Agra, Uttar Pradesh-India. Data is collected by administering Differential Aptitude Test (DAT). Result showed that there is found significant effect of aptitude in the stream selection process of the students and for mathematics numerical reasoning, clerical speed and accuracy, mechanical and verbal reasoning constitute the significant role for mathematics as careers option at higher secondary level.

The present study was conducted to ascertain the environmental awareness across gender, locale, type of schools and academic stream among senior secondary school students. The sample of the study comprised of 300 11th class students studying in different government and non- government senior secondary schools of Sambhal district (U.P.) of Moradabad region. Environment Awareness Ability Measure (EAAM) by Praveen Kumar Jha (1998) was used to collect the data for the purpose. The data were analyzed using descriptive (Mean, Standard Deviations) and inferential (‘t’- test) statistics. The findings of the present study revealed that there is significant difference in environmental awareness of senior secondary school students across gender (boys and girls), type of schools (government and non-government) and academic stream (science and arts). However no significant difference is found in case of rural and urban sample. The reason for this result may be the rampant illiteracy in the district. Stakeholders should, therefore, ensure that the curriculum relating to environmental education is transacted as a core curriculum. Other activities related to environmental education viz., curricular, co- curricular and literary activities should also be organized to infuse environmental awareness among students.

ABSTRACTThis paper reports on a study into the environmental opinions and concerns of a sample of Brisbane children in the upper primary, junior and senior secondary years. The study adopted a qualitative approach. Children's opinions about the environments around them and beyond were gathered using open-ended question items and focus group discussions. The study revealed that the upper primary children participating were most obviously concerned about their immediate personal environments. The junior and senior secondary students were more concerned about their natural environments to which they showed strong positive associations. On the other hand, all participants wanted to undertake personal action for change in their social environments at local, national and global levels.

The study attempts to develop the notion that networking among the teachers can influence the academic achievement of the students in a positive direction along with the smooth implementation of the curriculum at senior secondary level in the schools. In the current study, the syllabus of different subjects of Grade XI and XII has been overviewed and compared with each other on the basis of contents. The curriculum issued by Central Board of Secondary Education, Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, Cambridge International Examination and some of the State Boards has been undertaken to review the syllabus of various subjects. It has been found that many topics are similar in the syllabus of two or more subjects. It has also been noticed that the teachers face challenges to complete the syllabus in the allotted numbers of classes throughout the year. If one teacher can teach effectively a topic which is being repeated in the other subject then such networking and coordination can save the time and energy of both the teachers as well as the students which in turn removes the other challenges in routine curriculum.

Attitudes towards science is an important construct of science learning which has been affected by many factors. The main purpose of this research was to investigate whether the metacognition strategies predict students’ attitudes towards science. Accordingly, a total of 347 senior secondary students were asked to complete a questionnaire about their metacognition strategies and attitudes towards science. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to evaluate the validity of a structural/latent variable model. Findings revealed several direct and indirect effects among the factors under investigation. Of special importance, metacognition strategies positively predicted attractiveness of science (science is fun), class/teacher activities and family model as variables of students’ attitudes towards science. Attractiveness of science was also found to have effects on the science anxiety and family model was found to have effects on class/teacher activities. One important finding was that metacognition strategies could decrease students’ science anxiety. According to this information, it is recommended that science educators encourage students to employ metacognition strategies in science that may lead to more positive students’ attitudes towards science. Diet analysis is a critical content of animal ecology and the diet analysis methods have been constantly improving and updating. Contrary to traditional methods of high labor intensity and low resolution, the next generation sequencing (NGS) approach has been suggested as a promising tool for dietary studies, which greatly improves the efficiency and broadens the application range. Here we present a framework of adopting NGS and DNA metabarcoding into diet analysis, and discuss the application in aspects of prey taxa composition and structure, intra-specific and inter-specific trophic links, and the effects of animal feeding on environmental changes. Yet, the generation of NGS-based diet data and subsequent analyses and interpretations are still challenging with several factors, making it possible still not as widely used as might be expected. We suggest that NGS-based diet methods must be furthered, analytical pipelines should be developed. More application perspectives, including nutrient geometry, metagenomics and nutrigenomics, need to be incorporated to encourage more ecologists to infer novel insights on they work.

The aim of this study was to measure the attitudes of students and secondary students in Aqla falcon towards environmental problems. And whether there are statistically significant differences in trends towards environmental problems due to gender variable (student, student). To achieve the objective of the study, the researcher used the descriptive method. A questionnaire (25) was designed to measure trends towards environmental problems. Was applied to a sample of (126) students. After data collection and processing, the results showed that the attitudes of students and students are positive. The results of the study revealed no statistically significant differences in trends towards all environmental problems according to gender variable (student, student). The results also showed no statistically significant differences in the attitudes of male and female students towards all environmental problems according to the educational level of the father and the educational level of the mother. In light of the results, the researcher presented a number of recommendations, most notably: the need to maintain environmental awareness among students to include environmental education in the curriculum at all stages of public education, and the preparation of scientific programs calling for protecting the environment from all sources of pollutants and conservation.
