Enzyme doped polypyrrole polymer were synthesized by in situ polymerization where ferric chloride works as an oxidizing agent. The different weight percent of papain was added at the time of polymerization. The polypyrrole-papain composite of various composition was analyzed for its dielectric and a. c. conductivity by using LCR meter at room temperature. Dielectric constant and loss decreases, with escalation in frequency. The variation in dielectric constant and dielectric loss was also noted with change in papain percentage in pyrrole.

ABSTRACTThe dielectric response of BaBi2Nb2O9 (BBN) thin films has been studied as a function of frequency over a wide range of temperatures. Both dielectric constant and loss tangent of BBN thin films showed a ‘power law’ dependence with frequency, which was analyzed using the Jonscher's universal dielectric response model. Theoretical fits were utilized to compare the experimental results and also to estimate the value of temperature dependence parameters such as n(T) and a(T) used in the Jonscher's model. The room temperature dielectric constant (ε') of the BBN thin films was 214 with a loss tangent (tanδ) of 0.04 at a frequency of 100 kHz. The films exhibited the second order dielectric phase transition from ferroelectric to paraelectric state at a temperature of 220 °C. The nature of phase transition was confirmed from the temperature dependence of dielectric constant and sponteneous polarization, respectively. The calculated Currie constant for BBN thin films was 4 × 105°C.

Here we report the investigations on Sm -substituted PZTFN ( Pb 1-x Sm x Zr 0.588 Ti 0.392 Fe 0.01 Nb 0.01 O 3) (where x = 0, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08, 0.10) polycrystalline solid solutions fabricated by solid-state reaction method. XRD analysis shows all the samples to be single phase with tetragonal structure. Dielectric measurements were carried out in the temperature range 30°C–400°C at different frequencies in the range 100 Hz to 100 kHz. From the temperature variation of dielectric constant (ε), Curie temperature (TC) was determined which was found to decrease with increasing x. The room temperature dielectric constant (ε RT ) initially increases with increasing x and then starts decreasing. Dielectric loss improves with Sm -doping.

In this research, the Ba(Zr0.05Ti0.95)O3 powders were prepared by molten salt method. The powders were calcined at 600-1100°C for 3 h with heating rate of 5°C/min. The BZT powders were synthesized by molten salt method to reduce the calcination temperature by up to 300°C. The sintering procedure was carried out at 1250°C for 2 h with a heating/cooling rate of 5°C/min. Phase formation and microstructure were examined by XRD and SEM, respectively. The influence of the CuO additive on density and dielectric properties were investigated. The density of the sintered samples was measured by Archimedes method with distilled water as the fluid medium. Dielectric properties were examined by LCR meter. The BZT+2.0 mol% CuO ceramic sintered at 1250°C showed the highest density of 5.76 g/cm3, and the room temperature dielectric constant and dielectric loss at 1 kHz were 2687 and 0.01, respectively.

A series of three-phase composite films with different filler contents were prepared by in-situ polymerization. The composite films comprise polyimide (PI), poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF), and titanium dioxide (TiO2). Compared with PI/TiO2 composite films, the PI/TiO2-PVDF composite films not only get a significant increase in dielectric constant, but also own better mechanical properties. Our results show that with the loading of 50wt% PVDF particles, the dielectric constant of PI/TiO2-PVDF composite films increased from 6.5 to 18.14 at 1 MHz and room temperature, while the tensile strength of PI/TiO2-PVDF composite films increased from 45 to 72 MPa. In addition, the films maintain a low loss tangent of about 0.02. PI/PVDF composite films were also prepared. It was found that dielectric constant of PI/PVDF composite was significantly lower than that of PI/TiO2-PVDF composite films when the loading of PVDF is 50wt%.

AbstractCa2Nd4Ti6O20, a layered perov skite structured material was synthesized via a chemical (citrate sol-gel) route for the first time using nitrates and alkoxide precursors. Phase analysis of a sample sintered at 1625 °C revealed the formation of an orthorhombic (Pbn21) symmetry. The microstructure of the sample after sintering comprised rod-shaped grains of a size of 1.5 to 6.5µm. The room temperature dielectric constant of the sintered sample was 38 at 100 kHz. The remnant polarization (Pr) and the coercive field (Ec) were about 400 μC/cm2 and 8.4 kV/cm, respectively. Impedance spectroscopy revealed that the capacitance (13.7 pF) and activation energy (1.39 eV) of the grain boundary was greater than the capacitance (5.7 pF) and activation energy (1.13 eV) of the grain.

SrBi1.8Ce0.2Nb2O9 (SBCN) and SrBi1.8Ce0.2Ta2O9 (SBCT) powders were prepared via solid-state reaction method. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the SBCN and SBCT powders have the single phase orthorhom-bic Aurivillius structure at room temperature. The contribution of Raman scattering and FTIR spectroscopy of these samples were relatively smooth and resemble each other. The calcined powders were uniaxially pressed and sintered at 1250?C for 8 h to obtaine dense ceramics. Dielectric constant, loss tangent and AC conductivity of the sintered Ce-doped SrBi2Nb2O9 and SrBi2Ta2O9 ceramics were measured by LCR meter. The Ce-doped SBN (SBCN) ceramics have a higher Curie temperature (TC) and dielectric constant at TC (380?C and ?? ~3510) compared to the Ce-doped SBT (SBCT) ceramics (330?C and ?? ~115) when measured at 100Hz. However, the Ce-doped SBT (SBCT) ceramics have lower conductivity and dielectric loss.

In this paper, meso-porous MCM-41 was synthesized at room temperature using cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as the template agent. Then MCM-41/unsatura-ted polyester resin (UPR) materials were prepared by in-situ polymerization with the meso-porous MCM-41. MCM-41/UPR in-situ composites were prepared by roller milling and molding processes. Effects of meso-porous MCM-41 on rheological properties and wear resistance of the MCM-41/UPR composites have been investigated. It is shown that MCM-41 has a diameter in range of 4-5 nm and the pores are highly ordered. MCM-41 can improve the rheological properties and wear resistance of the composites. When MCM-41 content is 2%, the mass abrasion loss is decreased by 37.4%.

Functional Polyaniline (PANI) nanotubes are easily synthesized in high yield by an in situ polymerization using a fibrillar complex of acid orange II (AO II) and FeCl3as a template. During the process, the complex templates help direct the growth of fibrillar PANI on their surfaces, resulting in the formation of composite micro/nanofibers of PANI. After polymerization, by the post-treatment of removing templates in 1.0 M hydrochloric acid solution, PANI nanotubes with azo function and high electric conductivity of PANI are readily fabricated. The PANI nanotubes have about 150nm-300nm in diameter and several microns in length. At room temperature, the electric conductivity of PANI nanotubes is up to 10-1S/cm order of magnitude. The characterizations, including FTIR, UV-visible, XRD and TG, are presented.
