The Indonesian government introduced the compulsory-nation-wide National Exam (called Ujian Nasional in Bahasa Indonesia shortened to UN) since 2005. The systems required the students of class 6,9 and 12 to pass the National Exam in certain courses. This paper limits to class 12 as they will enroll to higher education. For class 12 there are threee compulsory courses, that are Indonesian Language, English and mathematics. As class 12 was divided into three departments (i.e. natural sciences, social sciences and language), each students must participate in the related-courseexams such those who choose natural sciences must take Physics, Chemistry, Biology; for social sciences the students must take Economics, Geography, Sociology while those from language department must take Indonesian literature, Anthropology and selected foreign languages (Chinese n, Japanese, German, Arab language) respectively. As the National Exam are compulsory, then the schools teach the students mostly in those subjects, sometime sacrificing other courses, the students are crammed only the required courses. Indirectly the students supported by the teachers are involved in information literacy activities albeit limited to certain subjects and usually using widely internet and google (a disadvantage for students with limited technological infrastructure and not 24 hours-electricity facilitiy). As being drilled into National Exam required courses, then the students are not really complete information literate person, they just partly information literate. Sacrificing other subjects, the students do not read literary books, they just read the novel excerps(!) This findings supported the acclaimed Indonesian poet Taufik Ismail who denoted that the Indonesian high school students since 1970s do not literary works at all. Apart from the (controversial) National Exam systems, from library point-of-view it is suggested that the school libraries actively took part in the information literacy holistically not partially in order to support the life long learning through information literacy program.

El actual trabajo afronta una de las problemáticas más apremiantes de los actuales momentos como es el alto índice de dispendio de drogas en las Instituciones Educativas, que afectan considerablemente a la sociedad ecuatoriana. Su objetivo es analizar los lineamientos que permitan mejorar la orientación familiar, y desarrollar relaciones interpersonales apropiadas que fomenten la unión familiar, practicar principios, fomentar valores morales, y que los jóvenes aprendan a decir “no” ante una eventual propuesta de consumir compuestos prohibidos, que lo único que se consigue es materializarse en un estado no idóneo ante la comunidad, considerar que las consecuencias para la salud son devastadoras, personas que a temprana edad padecen de enfermedades que en muchas ocasiones son gravísimas, causando malestar no solamente propio sino a la familia. Puedo mencionar como aporte de este artículo; y en base a resultados establecidos que resulta primordial e importante mantener la asistencia de un profesional especializado en psicología, diálogos científicos y motivadores, conjuntamente con atención médica provocarán en la persona afectada la erradicación del consumo de drogas. Constan muchos factores que causan gran influencia negativa en las familias, partiendo de que actualmente el mundo vive la tendencia del consumismo lo que influye en sobremanera que exista menos dialogo en el hogar, la aparición de la tecnología es otra de las situaciones adversas. Los profesionales encargados de brindar orientación familiar deben considerar siempre, que el comportamiento del ser humano debe ser comprendido desde el punto de vista de su forma de pensar, solo así se desarrollara una cultura que permita a las familias tomar las decisiones acertadas al momento de formar a sus hijos, lo que en un futuro se evidenciará como seres útiles a la sociedad. PALABRAS CLAVE: Consumo de drogas; orientación familiar; valores morales.  FAMILY COUNSELING, FOR THE PREVENTION OF DRUG USE IN THIRDYEAR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS  ABSTRACT  The current work addresses one of the most pressing issues of current times such as the high rate of drug use in educational institutions, which greatly affect Ecuadorian society. Its objective is to analyze the guidelines for improving family orientation, and develop appropriate interpersonal relationships that promote family unity, value the principles, and that young people learn to say "no" to a possible proposal to use prohibited drugs, that the only thing that is achieved is to materialize in an unsuitable state before the community, to consider that the consequences for health are devastating, people who at an early age suffer from diseases that in many occasions are very serious, causing discomfort not only their own but also the family. I can mention as contribution of this article; and based on established results that it is essential and important to maintain the assistance of a professional specialized in psychology, scientific and motivational dialogues, together with medical care, will cause the affected person to eradicate drug use. There are many factors that cause great negative influence on families, based on the fact that the world currently lives the trend of consumerism which greatly influences that there is less dialogue at home, the emergence of technology is another of the adverse situations. The professionals responsible for providing family counseling should always consider that the behavior of the human being should be understood from the point of view of their way of thinking, only in this way will a culture be developed that allows families to make the right decisions when forming to their children, which in the future will be evident as useful beings to society. Dreyfus argues that there is a basic methodological difference between the natural sciences and the social sciences, a difference that derives from the different goals and practices of each. He goes on to argue that being a realist about natural entities is compatible with pluralism or, as he calls it, “plural realism.” If intelligibility is always grounded in our practices, Dreyfus points out, then there is no point of view from which one can ask about or provide an answer to the one true nature of ultimate reality. But that is consistent with believing that the natural sciences can still reveal the way the world is independent of our theories and practices.

During the academic year 2007-2008, a hybrid online course was piloted at Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, Michigan. The course was created in response to a newly mandated Michigan Department of Education online learning graduation requirement. Blackboard Learning Management System was utilized for instruction. The curricular focus was information literacy. Students included 11th and 12th graders who also gained real world library work experience. In the new online learning environment, library media specialists are creating an infrastructure to support the dynamic and evolving ways that students and teachers use information resources.

ABSTRACTThis paper studies the construction of the notion of "good life" of young students of a high school as a result of the exchange of material and symbolic resources to members of their personal networks. In this research, the actors and their actions are treated as interdependent, so the relational ties between actors influence how young people construct their notion of good life and plan their future. The proposed study is based on the concept of personal networks in which the network is considered from the point of view of the subject, in this of young high school students who lived in a marginal urban area of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. Since the study subjects are young with few opportunities and situations of social inequality we must know in which social structures they interact.RESUMENEl presente artículo estudia la construcción de la noción de “vida buena” de jóvenes estudiantes de un bachillerato universitario como resultado del intercambio de recursos materiales y simbólicos con los miembros de sus redes personales. En esta investigación, los actores y sus acciones son tratados como interdependientes, por lo cual los lazos relacionales entre los actores influyen en como los jóvenes construyen su noción de vida buena y planean su futuro. El estudio está planteado a partir del concepto de redes personales en el cual se plantea la red desde el punto de vista del individuo, en este caso los jóvenes estudiantes de bachillerato quienes son habitantes de una zona urbana marginal de Mérida, Yucatán, México. Objective: The present study aimed to predict academic motivation based on self-directed learning and information literacy. Methods: This was an applied and correlational study. The statistical population of the study includes all high school students in Ardabil City, Iran, in the academic year of 2018-2019. Of them, 360 students from the 11th and12th grades (180 girls and 180 boys) were selected by multistage cluster random sampling. To collect the necessary data, the Self-Directed Learning Scale, the Multidimensional Assessment of School Motivation, and the Information Literacy Assessment of Students were used. Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple linear regression analysis were employed to analyze the obtained data in SPSS v. 20. Results: The current research results signified a significant direct relationship between information literacy, self-directed learning, and academic motivation; information literacy also could predict academic motivation in the study subjects (P<0.01). This predictability was significant concerning self-directed learning. Conclusion: The obtained data indicated that self-directed learning skills training and improving information literacy were effective in students’ learning and academic motivation.

PurposeThe research surveyed the competency of information literacy of senior high school students in Fiji. This is to evaluate the strong predictors of information literacy.Design/methodology/approachThe study adopted a survey research design whereby a five-point Likert scale self-reporting questionnaire was administered to Year 12 and Year 13 secondary school students. The data were analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software-descriptive statistics of calculating the mean and standard deviation, a correlation and linear regression analysis to deduce the strong predictors of information literacy.FindingsThe study showed that 81% of the students surveyed were average to above average information literate. The strong predictors of information literacy were the ability of an individual to collaborate and share safely online, the ability to share files securely and the ability to access the credibility of any resource assessed on the digital platform.Research limitations/implicationsThe current study evaluates information literacy of a cohort – stating how information literate the participants are, comprehending the strong predicators of information literacy so that there is an appropriate and effective implementation of interventions for the desired improvements.Practical implicationsThe results can be used to improve information literacy of students at all levels of education in the Fiji Islands.Social implicationsIf the youths are information literate they will be able to effectively contribute towards the development of their economy. Since the work environment today is technology oriented and involves a lot of information, being information literate means knowing how to use the information and differentiate between good and bad information. Hence, contributing effectively towards whatever task is performed.Originality/valueThis research if the first ever research done on evaluating the information literacy of individuals in Fiji.

Bullying is a dangerous phenomenon that affects many modern students around the world. Bullying destructively affects a person regardless of the role (aggressor, observer, victim) and, despite measures to overcome, is present at school. Bullying (from the point of view of the contextual approach) is a social-group phenomenon that accompanies the development of a group with an unconstructive deformation of relationships in it. We conducted a research that reveals how Russian students are prone to bullying, how (taking into account gender and experience of it) are aware of its causes, who can stop bullying and whom they are ready to turn for help to if they become observers or victims of bullying. The results of the study showed that 46.8% of students felt oppressed during the school year (2018-2019). Students realize that the school class can stop bullying, but in a bullying situation they turn to parents, teachers, less to friends, do not mention the school class.

Abstract Background Adolescence is a phase of life of great emotional, cognitive, social and body changes. Also noteworthy are the changes related to the emotional relationship between young people and sexuality. Recent research indicates that the use of Social Media (MS) has increased dramatically among adolescents in the last 10 years, and they have a tendency to seek information on health, sexual health and STIs including AIDS in these media. Objective To understand the influences of social media for sexual health and sexuality in adolescents. Methods This is a research with a qualitative approach, based on the Theory of Social Representations. The study included 28 adolescents aged between 15 and 18 years old, high school students from two public schools in Belo Horizonte. Data collection took place through open and in-depth interviews, with a semi-structured script. The data were interpreted based on the Structural Analysis of the Narration, proposed by Demazière; Dubar. Results The results found point to positive and negative representations in relation to the interviewees' point of view on the influence of social media on the sexuality of these adolescents. The positive representations found revolve around the ease of access to information and the privacy of being able to search and answer your questions through the internet and other means of communication. The aforementioned negative representations point to the little media approach on the subject, in addition, they indicate sporadic approaches centered on festive periods and dates such as carnival, a unique focus on AIDS and aimed specifically at adult audiences. Conclusions It is necessary to rethink how adolescents and young people today experience their sexuality and how to reach them comprehensively, understanding the need to guarantee appropriate and quality information to adolescents. Key messages The present work leads to reflections on the ways that adolescents experience sexuality today. Currently, teenagers are involved in digital media, including social media, where they can express issues related to sexuality and the way they experience it.
