<p><em>English language proficient has currently becoming a necessary requirement in various fields of study and professions. However, most students refuse to speak in English because they are too concerned in making mistakes, lack of motivation, and low self-confidence. In learning English, attitude and motivation are very closely related. A learner with positive attitude towards learning a language has a high tendency of motivation towards it. Therefore, the main objective of the research was to investigate the correlation between the items of attitude and motivation in spoken English among semester 4 students at Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin (PSMZA). The methodology used was quantitative method. This study was carried out using a questionnaire consisted of 70 items adapted from Gardner’s Attitude/Motivation Test Battery (AMTB) and was distributed to 100 semester 4 students from four departments of PSMZA. The data was analyzed using SPSS. Cohen’s standard was used to evaluate the correlation coefficient, where items with 0.50 or larger were highlighted which represented a strong association. Findings had shown these students’ attitude and motivation towards spoken English had strong correlation with some of the items that helped to boost their motivation in spoken English. These findings indicated the importance of different strategies to be implemented by the English language educators to enhance students’ motivation in communicative English subjects.</em></p>

Language learning is interlinked with a wide range of skills and consequently innumerable benefits too. Command over language makes one articulate with self-confidence. It is possible to link language learning to imparting language and life skills by using quotes and excerpts from various genres with the objective of facilitate the learner to develop his/her social, emotional and cognitive skills such as the ability to communicate effectively, improve interpersonal relations, develop positive attitude, be empathetic and think logically and creatively.

Feedback has been investigating for many years. Previous studies have proved that feedback is a powerful tool which teacher can use to foster students’ achievement. Students can obtain feedback from their peers, teachers, or themselves as a reflection. Feedback can be given through different mode, namely, written or spoken. This survey research aims to examine pre-service teachers’ responses to peer spoken feedback in micro teaching class. This research was conducted in Micro Teaching class F at English Language and Education Study Program of Sanata Dharma University. There were twenty-three participants in this study. Questionnaire and interview were used to gather the data. Based on the findings, the students have positive response towards the use of peer spoken feedback in micro teaching class. The students’ positive response can be seen from their attitude and motivation. The students have positive attitude to the use of peer spoken feedback. They were pleased in the peer spoken feedback activity. The students willing to engage in the activity of peer spoken feedback as well. The students showed the desired response. Through attainning peer spoken feedback, the students became more well-prapared in the teaching practice. Moreover, the students were motivated to perform a better teaching perfromance in the next teaching practice. Key Words: micro teaching, peer spoken feedback, response

The given article considers the relevance of the English language and the level of its functioning as an academic lingua franca in Kazakhstani periodicals. Authors particularly dwell on English language articles published in scientific and methodical journal Eurasian Journal of Philology: Science and Education recommended by the Committee for Control of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (CCES MES RK) in the period from 2010 to 2019 years. Due to the quantitative method, the high tendency of publishing English language articles has been identified in the journal Eurasian Journal of Philology: Science and Education. As a result it is evident that in the academic setting English is sharply becoming the lingua franca as a means of exchanging scientific data and fixing the main results of research. The largest number of English-language articles were presented in the section of Linguistics. However, the statistical data enables us to assume the progressive use of English as an academic lingua franca in all areas of philological sciences.

English is now considered as global language, and with every single day its users are increasing numerously. The paper aims to investigate the international students attitudes towards English language focusing on a case of International students in India. As the central university, The English and Foreign Lnguages (EFL) University India has many international students from a wide range of countries. The attitudes are in language skills and in other perspectives. Upon the completion of the collection of data, these were analyzed, computed and tabulated using MS Excel.The study incorporates quantitative approach and has used close ended questionnaire to collect data from the participants. A total number of twenty students participated in the study. From the findings of the data, The research shows that they had shown a positive attitude towards use of English or an increase in the use of English. They believed that learning needs process. Motivation and self-confidence are also main factors to master English comprehensively. They also believe that EFL University is the best place in India to study English intensively

Sa'adyah Gaon was an outstanding tenth-century Jewish thinker — a prominent rabbi, philosopher, and exegete. He was a pioneer in the fields in which he toiled, and was an inspiration and basis for later Jewish writing in all these areas. The last major English-language study of his work was published in 1921, long before Genizah research changed the understanding of the time in which he lived. This work, covering Sa'adyah's biography and his main areas of creativity in an accessible way, is a reassessment of an outstanding figure. The opening chapter, on the geonic period that formed the background to Sa'adyah's life, is followed by an overview that brings out the revolutionary aspects of his work and the characteristic features of his writings. Subsequent chapters consider his philosophical works; his Bible commentaries; his pioneering linguistic work; his poetry; his halakhic activity; and his activity as a polemicist, notably against the Karaites. An epilogue sums up his importance in medieval Jewish culture. Particularly valuable features of the book are the copious quotations from Sa'adyah's works, which facilitate familiarity with his style as well as his ideas; the clarity in presenting complex and difficult concepts; the constant assessment of his relationship to his predecessors in his various fields of study and his own unique contributions to each field; and the contextualization of his contribution within the political, cultural, and religious climate of his times so that both revolutionary and conservative elements in his thought can be identified and evaluated.

Every day we see an increasing tendency to use technology in education. In recent years, the impact of technology on the education process has received much attention. One of the important effects of technology is that it increases children’s motivation and self-confidence and increases group collaboration. The purpose of this paper is to transform the traditional classroom into a modern classroom in order to increase the ease and efficiency of the teaching process. The method includes phases of diagnosis and improvement. In the diagnose phase, the classroom is equipped with modern items such as Internet of Things (IoT) and game-based learning. In the improvement phase, the field method is used to extract and weight the effective criteria in improving the educational status. The proposed method has been tested on two English language kindergartens. The children tested were in the age group of 8 to 10 years. In the implementation of the proposed educational method in the first English language kindergarten, the average improvement of education and learning of children has almost doubled, which has been maintained by doubling the number of children tested in the implementation of the proposed educational method in the second English language kindergarten. As a result, the proposed educational method can increase the learning performance of children.

Background. There is some uncertainty about the rate and correlates of autism.Method. Twenty-three epidemiological surveys of autism published in the English language between 1966 and 1998 were reviewed.Results. Over 4 million subjects were surveyed; 1533 subjects with autism were identified. The methodological characteristics of each study are summarized, including case definition, case-finding procedures, participation rates and precision achieved. Across surveys, the median prevalence estimate was 5·2/10000. Half the surveys had 95% confidence intervals consistent with population estimates of 5·4–5·5/10000. Prevalence rates significantly increased with publication year, reflecting changes in case definition and improved recognition; the median rate was 7·2/10000 for 11 surveys conducted since 1989. The average male/female ratio was 3·8[ratio ]1, varying according to the absence or presence of mental retardation. Intellectual functioning within the normal range was reported in about 20% of subjects. On average, medical conditions of potential causal significance were found in 6% of subjects with autism, with tuberous sclerosis having a consistently strong association with autism. Social class and immigrant status did not appear to be associated with autism. There was no evidence for a secular increase in the incidence of autism. In eight surveys, rates for other forms of pervasive developmental disorders were two to three times higher than the rate for autism.Conclusion. Based on recent surveys, a minimum estimate of 18·7/10000 for all forms of pervasive developmental disorders was derived, which outlines the needs in special services for a large group of children.
