The article is devoted to the evaluation of the feasibility and efficiency of modernization of the microarc oxidation process (MAO) by changing the conditions and parameters of sparking, as well as the selection of criteria for assessing the quality and predicting the service properties of formed ceramic-like coatings. The predominant role in changing the nature of structure formation and in ensuring the predicted quality and properties of the oxidized alloy is played by the intensity of sparking, which occurs in the process of electric discharges migrating along the treated surface of the object immersed in the electrolyte. Intensity of sparking determines the conditions for obtaining equidistant coatings: the less stochastic the nature of sparking around the oxidized part is, the more evenly and rapidly the thickness of the formed coating increases and its density is higher. These considerations allowed us offering the option of upgrading method of the anode MAO (AMAO), wherein only the anodic component of the current, causing thereby obtaining thin coatings with extensive porosity by stabilizing the process of arcing through the use of the system of quasi cathodes in the electrolysis bath. In this study, we consider the possibility of controlling the parameters of coatings obtained by the AMDO method in its standard and upgraded versions, by fixing in real time the nature of the distribution of spark discharges, indirect evidence of which is the change in the current density over time and the uniformity of the thickness of the coatings created. Taking into account the influence of micro-arc oxidation on the structural and qualitative features of formed layers, it was assumed that the surface of the coating obtained by the modernized method should have a higher quality, one of the indicators of which is a more smooth and uniform relief. Thus, another criterion for the efficiency of the modernized process can serve as amplitude and step parameters of roughness, which, without allowing an objective assessment of the microprofile of the formed coating, can give more extensive information about the nature of the increase in its thickness and quality changes, determining the level of operational capabilities of metal objects with such a coating.

The article shows the state of Ukrainian Whiteheaded cattle, which includes distribution of cattle, the number of animals belonging to respective bloodlines, evaluation of young animals with live weight in the process of growing and milk production of cows during the first lactation. It reflects the historic development of the breed when it was colonism whiteheaded cattle, which turned into the original breed, undergone a significant expansion in livestock and increase of productivity, decreased in the number, was as basis for creation of Ukrainian Black-and-White dairy breed and now bred only in one breeding farm. Visual estimation of animal exterior showed good development of cows and calves and their belonging to the dairy type. In the vast majority the cows of the herd have a black suit, a white head with " glasses" around the eyes, white belly, udder, lower legs and brush of the tail. The youngsters aren’t consolidated by the exterior, and among them there are animals which are not typical for Ukrainian Whiteheaded breed. The young animals have some lag in live weight behind the breed standard [12] to 7 months’ age with exceeding of this trait in certain periods quite significantly in the future. It was established that selection of heifers on live weight will be effective at the early age (1-5 months), given the coefficient of variation of live weight – 22,63-30,21% and will not have a significant influence in the future. Milk yields of first-calf heifers vary considerably depending on the origin. The milk yield of first-calf heifers in the herd was 4238,5 kg on average, the heifers belonging to Mart 171 and Ozon 417 bloodlines had the best milk performance – 4483,1 and 4254,9 kg accordingly. The most aligned milk yield during the first lactation was in the cows belonging to Ozon 417 bloodline, the limits of the trait are 4128,5-4327,4 kg with the average value by the line 4254,9 kg. In contrast, the first-calf heifers of Ryezvyi 33 bloodline with average milk yield 4048,9 kg had limits of the trait 2199,3-4736,1 kg. Even greater range in cows’ milk yield during the first lactation R= 4939 kg (limits 1687 – 6626 kg) is characterized for the herd in general, it shows, on the one hand, the possibility of qualitative improvement of cows’ productivity due to selection on the investigated trait and lack of selection in the herd on the other hand. It was established that daughters of bull Chardash belonging to Ryezvyi 33 bloodline produced 4736,1 kg of milk for 305 days of the first lactation with fat content 3,6%, whereas Zlak’s descendants of the same line were characterized by the lowest milk yield for the first completed lactation – 2199,3 kg with fat content 3,7% and the average value by the line – 4048,9 kg of milk, fat content 3,6%. Similar variability of first-calf heifers’ milk yields, depending on the origin, is typical for other bloodlines of Ukrainian Whiteheaded breed. To increase milk productivity of Ukrainian Whiteheaded cows is recommended to repeat successful combinations of parental forms, and to preserve the breed – to carry out an objective assessment of animals by a range of traits, given the efficiency of selection of heifers on live weight at early age.

On the basis of the results of many years work in the inspection of engineering systems of buildings and structures, the presented work reflects aspects of obsolescence or imperfection of the regulatory document of the Russian Federation GOST 31937–2011 «Buildings and structures. Rules for inspection and monitoring of technical condition» in part of section 5.4. The types of work that are not taken into account in the GOST, but are necessary when inspecting for an objective assessment of the technical condition of engineering systems and the possibility of further trouble-free operation are considered. The authors propose modern inspection methods that make it possible, due to the instrumental tools used, to more accurately determine the operational capabilities of systems, identify hidden shortcomings and further develop optimal measures with the maximum improvement of indicators for financial expenses for major repairs of systems as a whole or individual elements.

The phenomenon of “singular agreement” (“SA”) in there-existentials — the combination of a plural post-verbal notional subject and a singular verb — has been the subject of a number of studies which have confirmed its covariation with a range of social, stylistic and grammatical factors. Whereas the focus of most such studies has been on the relative influence of these factors, that of the present study is on the nature and frequency of SA across (a selection of eight) World Englishes. Beginning with the assumption, for which there is indirect evidence in the literature, that SA is on the rise in contemporary English, an attempt is made to relate the degree of advancement of the eight varieties to their evolutionary status and characteristic style orientations.

The modern effective management of the training process in the handball game requires the knowledge of age characteristics and the interrelationships between the physical development and the physical capacity of adolescents. One of the main figures in the team is the pivot. Its game contributes to the full realization of the other players. This has led us to research the game of the pivot, in order to reveal some regularities in his style of play and hence to clarify of approaches in the training process, in improving mainly individual actions and group interactions. The aim of the study is to establish the level of some anthropometric indicators in order to optimize the selection of the game post pivot. Our objective assessment of the state of anthropometric status is an important condition for an adequate correction and improvement of the handball hand selection.

AbstractCandidates who wish to undertake Royal Marine recruit training, a physically strenuous course which now extends 32 weeks, must first of all successfully complete a Personal Qualities Assessment (PQA) and four psychomotor tests (Naval Recruiting Tests or RTs) before attending a three-day selection course at the Commando Training Centre, Lympstone, where their Physical capabilities are tested to the full. The effectiveness of theses procedures was untested until the Institute of Naval Medicine conducted a retrospective study during 1999-2000 from which the present study is taken.Data from 1232 recruits were examined to explore the relationship between the outcome of Commando training (pass or fail) with these various selection measures. Estimated aerobic power, time to complete the assault course and age were associated with outcome, as were PQA, RTs 1, 3, 4 and total RT score. A regression equation comprising aerobic fitness, assault course time, RT4 and age gave the best overall prediction of outcome (64%). It is suggested that this mathematical approach provides a scientifically valid and objective assessment tool for future selection strategies.

PurposeThe Migration and Health in Malawi (MHM) study focuses on a key challenge in migration research: although it has long been established that migration and health are closely linked, identifying the effect of migration on various health outcomes is complicated by methodological challenges. The MHM study uses a longitudinal panel premigration and postmigration study design (with a non-migrant comparison group) to measure and/or control for important characteristics that affect both migration and health outcomes.ParticipantsData are available for two waves. The MHM interviewed 398 of 715 migrants in 2007 (55.7%) and 722 of 1013 in 2013 (71.3%); as well as 604 of 751 (80.4%) for a non-migrant reference group in 2013. The total interviewed sample size for the MHM in both waves is 1809. These data include extensive information on lifetime migration, socioeconomic and demographic characteristics, sexual behaviours, marriage, household/family structure, social networks and social capital, HIV/AIDS biomarkers and other dimensions of health.Findings to dateOur result for the relationship between migration and health differs by health measure and analytic approach. Migrants in Malawi have a significantly higher HIV prevalence than non-migrants, which is primarily due to the selection of HIV-positive individuals into migration. We find evidence for health selection; physically healthier men and women are more likely to move, partly because migration selects younger individuals. However, we do not find differences in physical or mental health between migrants and non-migrants after moving.Future plansWe are preparing a third round of data collection for these (and any new) migrants, which will take place in 2018. This cohort will be used to examine the effect of migration on various health measures and behaviours, including general mental and physical health, smoking and alcohol use, access to and use of health services and use of antiretroviral therapy.

Titanium oxide coatings (Ti/TiO2)were formed on the titanium net surface by micro-arc oxidation(MAO) in Na3PO4 solution using an AC power supply. Then the titanium oxide coatings were treated by acetic acid or La(NO3)3 aqueous solution to improve its activity. The structures and photocatalytic ability of titanium oxide coatings before and after surface treatment were characterized and evaluated by XRD, SEM, EDX. It was found that the titanium oxide film is mainly made of titanium and anatase .When acetic acid aqueous concentration is 0.1mol•L-1 and soak time is 6 hour ,the Ti/TiO2 films photocatalytic degradation rate increased from 15% to 33.6%. When La(NO3)3 aqueous concentration is 0.1mol•L-1 and soak time is 12 hour, the Ti/TiO2 films photocatalytic degradation rate increased from 15% to 34.8%.
