The research is aimed to reveal opportunity development of the capture fisheries in Talaud Islands Regency by using bionomy approach with Gordon-Schaefer model (Fauzy, 2005) con-cerning the dominant of illegal fishing activities around the area. The research was started by co-llected some secondary data on fish production and number of fishing units. Primary data were collected on catch composition and types of fishing gear. Gordon-Schaefer methods was applied to evaluate the tuna and skipjack resources in the area. The troll and pole and line are indicated as the dominant fishing gears used to catch the skipjack and tuna. In case of open access condition, the production will end up to 25,09 tons, while the resource rent will be end up to zero. For the development, simulations were exercised in 3 scenarios: 1) scenario of enhancing domestic fleet, 2) scenario of illegal fishing, and 3) scenario of net surplus. With those scenarios, if the illegal fishing could be eliminated, the capture fisheries in this regency could render economic value to 10 billion rupiah.

Blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) is one of the high economic value commodities which causes increased efforts to catch blue swimming crab in Indonesia. The effort of catching continues to increase the blue swimming crab resources in the nature that has decreased. Cirebon Regency is one of the largest blue swimming crab fishing centers in West Java with a total value of blue swimming crab production in 2017 by 7,347 tons/year. This research was conducted to determine the selecitivity level of the crab gillnet and collapsible crab trap based on the proportion and total of catches obtained in Gebang Mekar Village, Cirebon Regency. Research was conducted in September 2019 – October 2019 in Gebang Mekar Village. For this research we used are primary data; collected directly during the observations includes catch type and weight of the catches and then interviews with several crab gillnet and collapsible crab trap fisherman and secondary data; data from official agencies and some literature. Our research suppose the moonlight phase effect of the blue swimming crab catch. Based on the research, it can be concluded that the crab gillnet with 3.5 inch mesh size and collapsible crab trap that operated in Gebang Mekar Village may be called a selective fishing gears but crab gillnet is more  eficient as compared to collapsible crab.

Abstract Poso in Sulawesi, primarily the Lake Poso and Poso River, is known as eel (Anguilla spp.) fishing areas. Therefore, research of eel fishing is required as base information for evaluating and determining policies for its activities. The eel fishing research in the Poso area was conducted through primary data observations, secondary data traces, and interviews from April to June 2021. The fishing activities take place in the Lake Poso and Poso River shore and the rivers of the lake inlets. The fishing gear that contributed greatly to the catch was fence traps and spears. The local community’s fence trap called waya is a unique gear only found in this area, and it is installed in Poso River around the lake outlets. The gears block the rivers to catch downstream migration eels. The spear is fishing gear (including for eels) operated at night in shallow waters, especially in the outlets of Lake Poso. The eel production recorded from the Poso areas for the last four years has been 6.7–15.5 tons per year, and the highest production was in Pamona Puselemba.

The present study was conducted to reveal the present scenario, problems and the prospect of fish farming of Gazipur Sadar upazila Bangladesh. The primary data were collected through field survey, questionnaire interview and focus group discussion from the fish farmers of several villages and urban areas of the upazila. Secondary data were collected from the Department of Fisheries and aquaculture extension section. Gazipur Sadar upazila has 14462.42 ha potential fisheries resources of which floodplains, seasonal water bodies, and ponds comprise 71.01%, 13.04%, and 8.57%, respectively. The total fish production of the upazila in 2016-17 was 14492.7 MT, 27% of the Gazipur district. The highest fish production of 5436 MT and 4.39 MT/ha/year came from the pond sector. Among different pond culture systems, the semi-intensive system had the highest fish production output (2826 MT). Exotic carps were the highest produced fish in the ponds. However, in spite of comprising a huge proportion of seasonal floodplains the fish production from this sector was only 0.42 MT/ha/year in 2016-2017. This indicates the poor utilization of inland open water resources for fish production in the study area. The major areas were identified to improve the existing pond fish farming situation were access to low-interest loan, quality seed, supply of advanced technologies, need-based training, and marketing facilities. Along with improving the pond fish farming, community-based fisheries management and some aquaculture initiatives on private own seasonal floodplains should be taken on a priority basis to improve open water management and to flourish inland fish production in the study area.Progressive Agriculture 29 (1): 53-63, 2018

Understanding global fisheries patterns contributes significantly to their management. By combining harmonized unmapped data sources with maps from satellite tracking data, regional tuna management organisations, the ranges of fished taxa, the access of fleets and the logistics of associated fishing gears the expansion and intensification of marine fisheries for nearly a century and half (1869–2015) is illustrated. Estimates of industrial, non-industrial reported, illegal/unreported (IUU) and discards reveal changes in country dominance, catch composition and fishing gear use. Catch of industrial and non-industrial marine fishing by year, fishing country, taxa and gear by 30-min spatial cell broken to reported, IUU and discards is available. Results show a historical increase in bottom trawl with corresponding reduction in the landings from seines. Though diverse, global landings are now dominated by demersal and small pelagic species.

General waters of Central Kalimantan with an area of around 2.29 million Ha is a habitat for freshwater fish, both of which have important economic value and ecological value. Diversity of fish species is a potential for fisheries production both as consumption fish, fish traded between regions and ornamental fish. Based on the latest data, there are 267 species of fish in the public waters of Central Kalimantan and 92 species of which are included in the category of ornamental fish species (Central Kalimantan Marine and Fisheries Service, 2010). Batu Lake is located in Sigi Village, Kahayan Tengah District, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. The area of the lake is approximately 12 km2, around the lake there are rafts and settlements, the distance from the capital city of Kahayan Tengah Subdistrict (bukit rawi + 3 km where the lake slightly enters, through a small road. The distance to the lake is about 250 m from the road) province, the condition of the lake is still natural and only used by residents of Tuwung as a place to find livelihoods (looking for fish and other river products) as well as a means of transportation to certain areas in foodplain waters such as the Lake Batu high water fluctuations (volume of water) in a year is very large. Ruaya fish means adjustment, confidence in conditions that benefit existence and for the reproduction of species with active and sometimes passive movements from one place to another. Effendi (1997) groups the family in the interests of spawning, ruaya to enlargement and food areas and refugee homes to avoid da ri place that is in a bad condition. This research is an effort to introduce the potential of freshwater natural resources in the Lake Batu District of Pulang Pisau in the form of ornamental fish. The inventory activity will provide information about potential types of ornamental fish with all the values of their superiority or attraction so that they can become superior commodities. This research was carried out in Batu Lake (2º 08'23.26 "S 113º 57.11'11.97" E) in Sigi Village, Kahayan Tengah District, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan Province.
