In order to study some aspects of pathogenesis of Rhodococcus equi, 60 white Swiss mice were used. They were randomly divided into 2 groups. The 1s' group (40 animals) was inoculated subcutaneously with a dose of 4x10° CFU .of R.equi while the 2nd group was kept as a control. Four animals from the 1st group and 2 animals from the 2nd group were sacrified at day, 1,2,4,8,12,16,20,24,28 and 30 postinoculation (P.I) Six animals of 1stgroup were died during the first and second days P.I. Microscopical examination showed acute to subacute suppurative inflammation in the liver, lung and spleen at I to 4 days PI. While pyogranulomatous lesions and epithelioid granuloma were seen in liver, lungs and spleen at 4 to 24 days PI R.equi was isolated liver, lungs, spleen, kidney and brain in the first day PI. The bacteria persisted in the spleen from and brain up to 20th day, in the liver up to 24" day while in the lungs, and kidney bacterial isolation continuous till 28th day PI.

In order to know the influence of whole sonicated S.aureus antigens (WSSAgs) on S.aureus septic arthritis, 15, white local rabbits, both sex, their weights ranged between 1.25-1.50 Kg ,were randomly divided into 3 equal groups and treated as follow:1-the 1ST group was immunized with 0.5 ml of WSSAgs (3.3mg/ml protein concentration), two doses,14 days interval, at 28 days post-immunized .skin test was done by used soluble sonicatated S. aureus antigens and at day 30,Ab titers was recorded ,then the Vt and 2nd groups were challenged with 0.5ml of bacterial suspension containing 1X1OCFU/ml ,intra -synovial. the 3 group was inoculated with 0.5 ml of sterile normal saline and served as control negative group. All animals were sacrificed at 30 days post- challenge, sample from knee joint were taken for bacterial isolation and pathological examination. The results showed that WSSAgs elicited both humoral and cellular immune responses against S.aureus infection .severe swelling of the knee joint was noticed in the 2 group as well as the animals unable to use their legs. heavy bacterial isolation from infected joints was recorded in the 2nd group with severe histopathological lesions in the infected joints characterized by suppurative inflammation of the perchondral area with inflammatory reaction, necrosis and erosion of the articular cartilage and these changes were extended to subchondral bone trabeculae and bone marrow lead to suppurative inflammaion and necrosis of the bone trabeculae .while there was no clinical signs and no bacterial isolation reported in immunized infected animals as well as no clear pathological changes t noticed in joints of immunized-infected animals.

Acute thiamine deficiency was produced in mice by the administration of oxythiamine, a thiamine analogue, superimposed upon a thiamine deficient diet. Adult male Swiss mice (30 gm. B.W.) were fed with a thiamine deficient diet ad libitumand were injected with oxythiamine (170 mg/Kg B.W.) subcutaneously on days 4 and 10. On day 11, severe lassitude and anorexia developed, followed by death within 48 hours. The animals treated daily with subcutaneous injections of thiamine (300 μg/Kg B.W.) from day 11 through 15 were kept alive. Similarly, feeding with a diet containing thiamine (600 μg/Kg B.W./day) from day 9 through 17 reversed the condition. During this time period, no fatal illness occurred in the controls which were pair-fed with a thiamine deficient diet. The oxythiamine-treated mice showed a significant enlargement of the liver, which weighed approximately 1.5 times as much as that of the pair-fed controls. By light and electron microscopy, the hepatocytes were markedly swollen due to severe fatty change and swelling of the mitochondria.

Liver metastases of gastric cancer determine the poor prognosis. Until now The expediency of their surgical removal has been controversial. However, according to a number of studies, the removal of potentially operable isolated liver metastases allows a significant increase of overall and relapse-free survival in some cases. The review is dedicated to the analysis of prognostic factors that allow selecting patients for surgical removal of liver metastases of gastric cancer. The main criteria are: effective perioperative chemotherapy; stage under T4, N0, absence of lymphovascular invasion, absence of peritoneal dissemination, number less than 3, size up to 4 cm, localization of metastases in one lobe, low level of cancer markers CA 19-9 and CEA.

Nowadays, because of the industrialization, a lot of contaminant were available ; the consequences of this availability are apparition of diseases including neurodegeneration. Neurodegenerative diseases of the human brain comprise a variety of disorders that affect an increasing percentage of the population. This study is based on the effect of the Boswellic resin, which is from a medicinal plant and known for its antioxidant effects on nerve cell damage. The objective of this work was to evaluate the in vitro and in vivo effects of the Boswellic resin on anticholinesterase activity and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) induced by D-galactose and aluminum tetrachloride in Swiss mice. Chemical composition of the resin essential oil was identified by the CG-MS analysis. The antioxidant activity was also assessed by the DMPD and metal chelation methods. In order to understand the mechanism of memory improvement, the acetylcholinesterase, AChE, and butyrylcholinesterase, BChE, inhibitory assays were performed. In vivo part of the study was achieved on Swiss mice divided into four groups: control, AD model, treated AD, and treated control group. The identification of chemical composition by CG-MS reach the 89.67% of the total extract compounds presented some very important molecules (p-Cymene, n-Octyl acetate, α-Pinene…). The present study proves that Boswellic resin improves memory and learning in treated Alzheimer’s group, modulates the oxidative stress and be involved in the protective effect against amyloid deposition and neurodegeneration, and stimulates the immune system in mice’s brain.
