The high cost of shrimp or lobster feed is also a problem in the sustainability of aquaculture, even though freshwater crayfish, including eaters, require proper and relatively cheap feed selection. One source of feed that can be used as an alternative is green clams and silk worms. This study aims to determine which feed is better and more affordable for freshwater lobster seeds, so that the sustainability of cultivation can be well maintained in terms of economy, quality and quantity. The method used was descriptive comparing between the two feeds given a dose of each treatment, namely 10% of the lobster seed biomass, then analyzed using a 95% confidence level t-test.       The results showed a significant effect (P <0.05), on the absolute length growth and absolute weight of freshwater lobster seeds. The absolute length of the seeds given green shellfish feed is 0.94 ± 0.38 cm and silkworm feed is 0.66 ± 0.27 cm, for the absolute weight of green shellfish feed is 5.11 ± 0.38 gr and silk worm feed 2.68 ± 0.18 gr. The best results from the two feeding treatments for freshwater lobster seeds were using green shellfish feed with an absolute weight value of 5.11 ± 0.38 gr and the absolute length is 0.94 ± 0.38 cm. So that green shellfish feed can be used as a better alternative feed for the cultivation of freshwater lobster seed enlargement.

The problem with gouramy cultivation was slow growth due to the short intestines of gouramy so that the absorption of feed takes longer and less. Several previous studies used temulawak in the form of flour, extract, oil which was applied to carp, tilapia, milkfish, catfish. The addition of extract, temulawak flour to the feed gave an increase in growth both in length and weight in the test fish. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not the effect of temulawak extract on the growth of gouramy fish. This research was conducted for 45 days. This research was conducted by experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments (P) 3 times replication (U), in order to obtain 15 experimental units. Treatment 0 Control (without temulawak extract), Treatment 1 Provision of temulawak extract with a concentration of 14%/kg feed, Treatment P2 Administration of temulawak extract with a concentration of 16%/kg feed, treatment P3 Administration of temulawak extract with a concentration of 18%/kg feed, and treatment P4 administration of temulawak extract with a concentration of 20%/kg feed. The results showed that in the P0 treatment the absolute weight gain was 0.78 grams, in the P1 treatment the absolute weight was 0.58 grams, the P2 treatment was 0.33 grams, the P3 treatment was 0.37 grams, and in the P4 treatment it was obtained The result of absolute weight gain was 0.39 grams. The results showed the absolute length increase ranged from 0.35-0.57 cm. It can be concluded that the addition of temulawak extract to the commercial feed of carp has no significant effect on absolute weight, absolute length, survival rate and feed efficiency level.

Muh. Aryan R Suci. Growth of Baronang Fish (Siganus canaliculatus) in Basic Net Cages in Different Seagrass Conditions on Lantang Peo Island, Takalar Regency. Lantang Peo Island which is one of the islands which is covered by several types of seagrass. Data collection was carried out from September to October 2016 at the Lantang Peo estuary. The first treatment is observation of density, cover and identification of seagrass. The second treatment is measuring water quality and the last one is measuring the weight and length of the baronang fish. Observation of seagrass species obtained Enhalus accoroides and Thalassia hempichii species. The total density of seagrass at Station I was 47 (teg / m2) 10.03% cover of seagrass, 70 (teg / m2) density of seagrass at Station II was 17.12% and the total density of seagrass at Station III was 90 (teg / m2) 18.13%. Observation of the absolute growth of baronang fish weight at station I of 1 gr. At station II the absolute weight growth of fish is 3 gr and at station III the absolute weight growth of fish is 5 gr. Observations of the absolute length increase of fish at Station I were 1 cm, the absolute length increase of fish at Station II was 2 cm and the absolute length increase of fish at Station III was 3 cm. This difference occurs due to the different density structure of the seagrass at each station.

This study aimed to determine the effect of commercial feeding (pellets) on the growth and viability of Betok fish (Anabas testudineus). The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Water Quality and Aquatic Biology, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, University of Tadulako Palu, from November to December 2019. This study was designed using a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and five replications. Treatment A (feeding 2×/day), B (feeding 3×/day), C (feeding 4×/day) and D (feeding 5×/day). The results showed that feeding with different frequencies did not affect the growth in absolute weight and absolute length of Betok fish (Anabas testudineus). The growth of the absolute weight of Betok fish that was reared for one month ranged from 2.05-2.38 g, while the absolute length growth of the betok fish ranged from 0.345-0.42 cm. The highest growth in absolute weight and the absolute length was found at the feeding frequency of 2×/day (A). The survival rate of Betok fish (Anabas testudineus) reared for one month is 100%. During the research, water quality, it was still around the optimum range of betok fish growth.

The need to seek for alternative feed materials with nutritional and medicinal values to support livestock growth necessitated this study. Forty-five unsexed rabbits crosses (Chinchilla × Newzealand white) 5- 6 weeks old with average weight of 720g were used in a 10- week feeding trial to evaluate the performance of growing rabbits fed on varying levels of dried okra leaves. The rabbits were assigned into five treatment groups containing dried okra leaves (DOL) at 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% and 10% inclusion levels for dietary treatments (T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5) respectively. Each treatment consisted of 9 rabbits and replicated thrice with each replicate consisting of 3 rabbits in a completely randomized design. Data collected were subjected to one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results indicated that daily feed intake was significantly (P<0.05) largest in rabbits fed 5.00% inclusion level of dried okra leaves (84.57g) and least in rabbits fed 0.00% level of inclusion of dried okra leaves (72.12g). Feed efficiency (FE) was poorest (P<0.05) in rabbits fed 10.00% DOL (0.15%) and best (0.20%) in rabbits fed 2.50% dried okra leaves. It was concluded that okra leaves can be included in diets for growing rabbits and 2.50% level of dried okra leaves inclusion is recommended for adoption by farmers to maximize profit.

1. It has been shown that photoperiod has a direct effect on the larva of Lucilia casear L. in the induction of diapause. 2. Transference of larvae from long to short photoperiod conditions during the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd instar increases their tendency to enter diapause. Conversely, transfer from short to long photoperiod conditions decreases their tendency to enter diapause. 3. Larvae are sensitive to changes in the absolute length of the photoperiod during all instars. The reaction is not restricted to any one stage but tends to be cumulative; thus the earlier the larvae are transferred from one photoperiod regime to another then the greater the contrast in diapause incidence between experimental groups and controls.

Aquaculture development of tinfoil barb farming is needed to increase production. This study aimed to evaluate the reproductive performance, growth and heterosis value on outbreeding of two tinfoil barb populations (Java and Kalimantan) reciprocally. Spawning was conducted by induced breeding using hormone stimulation (at dose of HCG 500 IU/Kg and dose of LHRH analog 0.6 mL/Kg). Spawning was carried in the aquarium with 1 x 0.5 m length and 50 cm height of fresh water as full sib ratio 1:1 (one female: one male). The measurement of hybrid in each population was repeated three times. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by Duncan test. Result showed that fingerlings resulted from ♀ Kalimantan and ♂ Java exhibited the highest reproductive and growth performances (P<0.05) with fertilization rate (94.17%), absolute length gain (2.85 cm), absolute weight gain (0.33 g), specific growth rate of length and weight (2.35% and 4.02%), and survival rate (57.20%).

Feeding chlortetracycline in the diet reduced the total number of fecal discharges both in rats fed a basal cornstarch diet and in rats fed a 25% lactose diet. Diarrhea occurred in many of the lactose-fed rats during the first 2 weeks, but neither the ratio of diarrheal discharges to total discharges nor recovery from the diarrhea was affected by chlortetracycline. Chlortetracycline did not significantly alter the absolute weight of the small intestine or of the colon plus rectum in rats fed either diet. However, it decreased the small intestine weight:body weight ratio in the lactose-fed rats and decreased the colon plus rectum weight:body weight ratio in rats fed both diets. It increased the absolute and relative weights of the cecum in the cornstarch-fed rats, but did not affect the enlarged cecum in the lactose-fed rats. The small gut length was not altered by chlortetracycline, but the length was increased by the lactose diet (with or without chlortetracycline) compared to the cornstarch diet without chlortetracycline.

That a comparative view of the weights of equal volumes of water and all other substances is highly useful on many occasions, is too well known to require any proof; but that a principal use resulting from this comparison, when properly made, is unattainable by a perusal of the common tables, I shall here endeavour to shew, and at the same time point out a remedy for this defect. One capital advantage derivable from a table of specific gravities, is the knowledge of the absolute weight of any solid measure of the substances therein contained, or that of the solid measure of a given weight of those substances, a cubic foot of water being supposed to weigh 1000 ounces avoirdupois, and consequently a cubic inch of water weighing 253, 182 grains.
