Background: The mechanical ventilator is an indispensable breathing tool in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). But the mechanical ventilator is associated with the risk of Ventilator Associated Penumonia (VAP). VAP occurs due to poor hygiene of the endotracheal tube (ETT). ETT hygiene should be maintained to inhibit bacterial development in the lungs using suction above cuff endotracheal tube (SACETT) to prevent VAP.Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of SACETT in preventing Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP) in critical patients in the ICU.Methods: This was a quasy experimental study with posttest only with control group design with 15 samples in intervention group (SACETT and Chlorhexidine 0.2%) and 15 in control group (ETT, Open Suction, and Chlorhexidine 0.2%) with purposive technique sampling. The Simplified Clnical Pulmonary Infection Score (CPIS) was used to measure VAP.Results: This study illustrates that there was no VAP incidence in the intervention group, and as much as 13.3% VAP in the control group. SACETT was more effective in preventing VAP than in standard ETT on day 4 (p = 0.001).Conclusion: SACETT is more effective in preventing VAP than standard ETT in the fourth day in patients with neurological, cardiovascular, urinary, digestive, and immune system disorders.

The pain in labor due to contractions and the process of expelling the baby cannot be avoided by the mother. One way to reduce pain intensity non-pharmacologically is music therapy and the provision of spice drinks. music therapy can reduce stress and anxiety levels, especially during childbirth, while herbal drinks derived from ginger are analgesic, as well as cinnamon and cloves, can relieve pain. The research method is “Quasi experimental pre-post test with control group design. The intervention group was Sundanese instrumental music therapy with spice drinks and the control group was only given spice drinks, which was carried out on mothers giving birth during an active phase. The population is all mothers giving birth in BPM Bogor area. The sample size of the average difference test of two paired groups is 15 respondents in each group. The results showed a decrease in labor pain in the active phase of the first stage in the intervention group with p = 0.016. This shows that there is an effect of giving music therapy and spice drinks on the intensity of labor pain as assessed by the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), and there is no significant change in the decrease in labor pain during the active phase of labor, in the control group (p>0.05). There was no significant result on the length of labor with p = 0.439 (p > 0.05). This means that both the control and intervention groups did not show a difference in the time/length of labor

The most complaint symptom for post herniotomy patients is pain on the surgical site. Pain may affect patients' ability to mobilize and may attribute to prolonged length of stay in the hospital. Many complementary therapies have been used to decrease pain intensity for patients post-surgery, but warm compress intervention on post herniotomy pain has not been explored significantly. To investigate the effect of warm compress intervention on post herniotomy pain. The study used a pre-post test quasi-experimental with control group design. Sixteen post herniotomy adult patients of Wates Kulon Progo District General Hospital of Yogyakarta were recruited for each group. The intervention group was given warm compress interventions two times per day for two days. Pain intensity was assessed pre and post-intervention with the Numerical Rating Scale, while the control group only received regular analgetic. The researchers used the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test and Mann-Whitney U Test to compare pain intensity in each group and between groups.Fifteen out of 16 patients who received warm compress intervention rated decreased pain intensity as the rest did not experience any differences after the intervention (Z=-3.354, p=.001). Unlike the control group, only 3 out of 16 patients experienced declined pain intensity after two days of herniotomy when the rest did not encounter any changes (Z=-1.732, p=.083). The mean rank between intervention and control groups were significantly different (U=20.000, p=.000). Warm compress intervention is a non-invasive nursing intervention which is effective in reducing the pain intensity of post herniotomy patients.

Dysmenorrhea is menstruation accompanied by pain or cramps in the lower abdominal area when approaching menstruation. One way to reduce dysmenorrheal pain is to use non-pharmacological therapy with dysmenorrhea exercises. Dysmenorrhea is a relaxation technique for reducing dysmenorrheal pain, when exercise is done regularly and the movement is appropriate then the muscles are tense to relax and reduce the intensity of dysmenorrhoeal pain during contractions. The purpose of this research is to know Influence of Dysmenorrhea Gymnastic on Change of Pain Level on Diploma Nursing Student at STIKes WijayaHusada Bogor in 2016. This research type is Quasi Eksperimen with Non Random Pretest &Postest Control Group Design design. Sampling method in this research use Purposive Sampling technique with sample number 32 responden. Data collection was obtained through observation with pain scale observation sheet and gymnastics with standard operational procedure of dysmenorrhenal exercises. The result of bivariate analysis using Wilcoxon test, in the intervention group obtained value (ρ =, 001 or ρ <0,05) and in the control group got value (ρ = 1,000 or ρ> 0,05). The results of the analysis of differences in decreased levels of dysmenorrhea pain in both groups with Mann-Whitney test showed an average value of the difference in the decrease in the scale of dysmenorrhea pain before and after intervention (ρ = 000 or ρ <0.05). This indicates that there is a difference in decreasing the scale of dysmenorrheal pain in the intervention group and control group which means there is a significant influence between the two variables. There is Influence of Dysmenorrhea Gymnastic on Change of Pain Level On Diploma Nursing Student at STIKes Wijaya Husada Bogor, 2016.

Pain management in postoperative patients so far in the Shofa Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital in Temanggung is still limited to pharmacotherapy in the form of 1 gram injection metamizole or 30mg ketorolac injection and the provision of deep breath therapy. Giving this therapy is not optimal in dealing with patient pain. Therefore other therapies need to be given for example non-pharmacology, one of them is a combination of murottal Al-Qur'an therapy and virtual reality when the pharmacotherapy reaction is finished and the complementary therapy has never been done in the room. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of a combination of Murottal Al-Qur'an therapy and virtual reality on pain intensity in postoperative patients. The research design used in this study was quasi-experimental with a pre-posttest with a control group design approach. The subjects of this study were 32 post-operative patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Temanggung Hospital. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The instrument used in obtaining data is the Numeric Rating Scale. The results showed that: 1) there were differences in the average pretest and posttest intensity of postoperative pain in the intervention group with a p-value of 0,000; 2) there is a difference in the average pretest and posttest intensity of postoperative pain in the control group with a p-value of 0.003; and 3) there is a significant difference in the decrease in intensity of postoperative pain in the intervention group and the control group with a p-value of 0.009 where the experimental group showed a decrease in intensity more effectively than the control group. The results of this study indicate that the combination of Murottal Al-Qur'an therapy and virtual reality is effective in reducing pain intensity in postoperative patients.

Background: Burn patients experience major physiological and psychological stressors during treatment and rehabilitation, including elevated levels of pain, anxiety, stress, or depression. Music interventions inclusive of music therapy (MT) have been shown to improve such symptoms, but rigorous clinical trials investigating specific music therapy methods in adult burn patients are scarce. Methods: This is a single center Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) protocol with two parallel arms. Participants are 81 adult burn patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the University Hospital Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá in Colombia. The intervention consists of a Music Assisted Relaxation (MAR) protocol, a music therapy technique composed of entrained live music combined with a guided relaxation and/or the use of imagery. The effects of the MAR will be compared to a control group (treatment as usual) over a period of maximum 2 weeks or six interventions. The primary outcome measure is perceived background pain, as measured with a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before and after each intervention. Secondary outcomes are anxiety and depression levels; vital signs; and the use of pain medication. Additionally, some patients in the intervention group will be invited to participate in electroencephalography, electromyography, and electrocardiography recordings during the MAR.Discussion: This study protocol follows the SPIRIT guidelines for defining items of clinical trials and is the first study in Colombia to evaluate the effects of music therapy for adult burn patients. With this RCT it is hoped to gather new knowledge about the potential of music therapy to help critical care patients cope and recover from their injuries during the hospitalization in the ICU.Trial registration:www.clinicaltrials.gov, Identifier: NCT04571255.Protocol version: V1.0, May 24th 2021
