Introduction: The rate of mobile phone use among people, especially young people is increasing. The proper use of mobile phone for utilizing the advantages and stay away from its complications is essential. To obtain a model and how to use mobile phone will facilitate planning for preventing complications. So, in this article, questionnaire development with aimed at examining the pattern of mobile phone use among students of Iranian Universities.Methods: In this study a self-administered questionnaire was designed based on a literature review in PubMed, EMBASE, Science Direct, and Google Scholar database and using 2 rounds of the Delphi method with the presence of 10 experts from different fields.Result: In the first Delphi round 6 questions were obtained and in the second round 15 questions were confirmed. The mean of Content Validity Ratio and Content Validity Index for the questionnaire was 93.32 and 92.70, respectively. A questionnaire was designed and developed according to the purpose.Conclusions: Using the designed questionnaire, the mobile usage pattern among student universities can be examined and solutions can be considered for them. This can prevent further consequence.

Background: Mobile phones have become an indispensable part of modern human life. With the ever-increasing utilization of smart phones, several psychological & behavioural problems have emerged. Excessive use of smart phones has also led to poor academic performance among students. Keeping all these points in mind, a study was conducted in professional colleges to obtain base line data. Objectives: To assess the usage pattern of smart mobile phone among students of professional colleges and to evaluate the mobile phone dependence in students of professional colleges. Materials and methods: In Visakhapatnam, a cross-sectional study was conducted among 100 Medical & 100 Engineering students selected by random sampling technique. Data were collected using a pre-designed& pre-tested questionnaire from October 2018 to November 2018. SAS-SV Scale was used to assess the mobile phone dependence. Collation of data was done using inferential statistical methods. Results: The study population of Medical group consisted of 32% males & 68% females; of these 45% were Day scholars & 55% were residents of hostels. The study population of Engineering group consisted of 63% males& 37% females; of these 76% were Day scholars & 24% were residents of hostels. The majority of students in both the professional groups were of the age group of 19 years. While assessing mobile phone usage pattern, it was found that age of initiation of mobile phone use was above15 years in 88.5 % in both the groups. 75%. of students in both the groups were using mobile phone between 1-6 hours a day. 45% of students were using mobile phone at home while 55%were using while on move. While 32% students had Addiction scale more than SAS-SV: cut off 31; factors like daily life Disturbance, withdrawal, cyber space-orientation relationship, overuse etc. 33% students were in the range of being at risk group (SAS-SV: 20 to 30). Out of 19 % Medical & 32% Engineering students who attended calls while driving, 26% & 25% continued conversation while still driving in both the groups respectively.131students often woke up from their sleep to check whether they had a Notification or a Missed call or SMS (P=<0.01). False perception of mobile phone ringing was present among 12% of Medical and 14% of engineering students. Conclusion: The study showed an increased dependence of mobile phone use among Medical & Engineering students, which imparts a negative effect on physical and mental health & also poor academic performance.

Abstract Introduction Mobile phone use at night is associated with worse sleep quality. It may also be associated with daytime productivity, possibly via anxiety. Methods Data were obtained from the Sleep and Healthy Activity, Diet, Environment, and Socialization (SHADES) study, including N=1007 adults age 22–60. Mobile device use in bed was assessed as the frequency that participants reported: a device in the bedroom, use of the device in bed, texting, emails, internet browsing, calls, and/or social networking in bed, being woken up by the device in a planned (alarm) or unplanned (alert/call/message) way, and checking the phone at night. Each of these were coded as “never,” “rarely,” or “often.” Work productivity was assessed with the Well-Being Assessment of Productivity (WBA-P; scores 0–22 measure productivity loss). Regressions with WBA-P score as outcome and mobile phone variables as predictors were adjusted for age, sex, race/ethnicity, education, and income level. Post-hoc analyses included GAD7 score to examine the mediating role of anxiety. Results The presence of a device was not associated with productivity loss, but frequent use (“often”) was (B=1.26,p=0.01). Increased productivity loss was also seen in those who frequently (“often”) sent texts (B=1.20,p=0.008), browsed internet (B=1.14,p=0.01), emailed (B=2.09,p&lt;0.0005), called (B=1.42,p=0.004), and used social media (B=1.26,p=0.004). Productivity loss was associated with being woken by a call/alert “rarely” (B=1.20,p=0.001) or “often” (B=1.72,p=0.005), but not by alarm. Checking the phone at night “rarely” (B=0.89,p=0.01) and “often” (B=1.73,p&lt;0.0005) were also associated with productivity loss. When anxiety was entered into the model, all relationships except those with frequent emails and calls in bed became nonsignificant. Conclusion Anxiety may be the underlying cause for both increased mobile phone usage and reduced productivity. Reducing anxiety levels may indirectly aid in decreasing nighttime mobile phone use and increasing daytime productivity. This study used 328 smallholder farmer respondents to investigate its objectives of how farmers use mobile phone technology, what benefits they have gained from the use, and the constraints encountered during the process. The quantitative data collected through a process of questionnaire administration were analysed using Stata 12 software. The results indicate that mobile phone usage for farm and other social purposes has increased with farmers. The farmers also spend almost 40% of their phone bills on farm-related activities and that seeking market information represented 17.32% of the total phone bill in a month. Increased efficiency in input delivery, market access, and output distribution were reported as some of the advantages of using mobile phones. This study was conducted in a region where its general characteristics may not reflect that of the entire country thus generalisation of the study may be limited, so the data should be cautiously use.

Background: The rapid outbreak of Coronavirus has led to the worrying situation. Prevention strategies such as a stay at home offer great opportunities for transmission reduction of the virus. Therefore, the purpose of current study has developed a questionnaire to investigate the reasons for not staying at home in Iran. Methods: In this study a self-administered questionnaire was designed in two Delphi rounds and based on 50 expert and 10 expert opinions from different fields of study. Results: In the first Delphi round 11 questions were obtained and in the second round 14 questions were confirmed. The mean of CVR and CVI for the questionnaire was 95.33 and 94.67, respectively. A questionnaire was designed and developed according to the purpose. Conclusion: Using the designed questionnaire, the reasons why some people do not pay attention to home quarantine can be examined and solutions can be considered for them. This can prevent further corona spread.

Background: The mobile phone is viewed as an important communication tool and is an integral part of the human society in the present era. Medical students use smart phones for note taking, imaging, web browsing, text books, question banks etc. Excessive mobile phone use has been found to be associated with health problems such as impaired concentration, headache, fatigue, thermal sensations in and around ear, stress, sleep disturbances and frustration. Objective was to explore the mobile phone usage pattern and its health effects among medical students.Methods: An observational study was conducted among medical students of Belagavi. The calculated sample size was 277 after taking the prevalence of mobile phone usage pattern of 76.4%. The questionnaire consists of socio-demographic characteristics, pattern of mobile phone usage like mode of use, time of maximum use etc. and the health effect variables like headache, restlessness, neck pain, painful fingers etc. Statistical analysis was done using MS-Excel 2007 and SPSS v 22, proportion and chi-square test was applied and p<0.05 was considered significant.Results: 98.19% were using smart phone and 85.56% were having single phone. Maximum were using for 2-4 years (42.60%). Internet was used for academic purpose in 89.89%. Majority of them experienced eyes symptoms (55.23%) followed by sleep deprivation (46.21%) and headache (42.60%).Conclusions: Even though mobile phone has positive role in our daily lives, its overuse leads to negative impact on health, sleep, and academic performance of students.

Mobile phone use among university students is now pervasively altering their social interaction with others. The study investigated the influence of mobile phone use among commuting University Students on their interaction with co-travellers and the environment through which they travel. Three hundred students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria were purposively sampled to respond to a 10-minute questionnaire. The questionnaire contained questions such as ownership of mobile phones, type and number of phones owned, frequency of usage and the influence of mobile phone usage during transit on interaction between the students and their co-travelers and with the environment they traveled through. Results showed that all the respondents possessed at least one mobile phone. In addition, results revealed a negative correlation between time of use of mobile phone and interaction with co-travelers (α=0.05, r= -0.039) and no significant correlation between length of use of mobile phone and interaction with the environment (α=0.05, r=0.079). The study established that mobile phone intrusiveness has an influence on students' interaction during commuting.

Mobile phones are now being used by all members of society, men, women and the children. When members of society use them it affects their lives, thus the research is interested in exploring how mobile phone usage affects the lifestyles of female university students. The study explored the dependency and effect of mobile phone usage among female students at a university of technology. A cross-sectional survey was carried at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), Soshanguve South campus. The study focused on the following objectives: exploring the classification of female university students who own cell phones, establishing the general phenomena influencing the use of mobile phones by female university students at a university of technology and perceived gratification and finally establishing the patterns of mobile phone use by female students and the lifestyle patterns generated thereafter. The study collected data from 100 female students at the institution using a survey. The findings indicated that the main reasons female university students at TUT use a mobile phone are for socialising, sharing academic work and solutions as well as for safety and privacy purposes. The major reason for choice of brand was seen to be usability and price. The respondents showed some signs of addiction to their mobile phones. The findings of this study are beneficial to marketers of mobile phones in Pretoria and the rest of the country; it is also useful to mobile phone developers, universities, parents, and researchers exploring mobile phone adoption and usage pattern in a developing country such as South Africa.

This study is a descriptive correlation study to identify the characteristics of mobile phone usage, mobile phone addiction, and physical pain in university students and to identify the correlation between variables. The degree of addiction to the mobile phone was 32.10 points, and pathological commitment is 1.86 points, living disorder 1.79 points, the loss control 2.19 points, compulsive symptoms 1.72 points. Subjects who experienced physical pain mobile phone use was 39.1%. Physical pain was lower in order of wrist, finger, neck, shoulder, and arm. There was a statistically significant difference between mobile phone addicts and women, according to the average daily data usage time, the mobile phone addiction score of the group with high usage time was high. In the case of physical pain, it has been found that the use of mobile phones for a long period of time due to loss of control among the mobile phone addiction causes the most physical pain. The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of mobile phone use, mobile phone addiction symptom and physical pain in university students.

<b><i>Objective:</i></b> To validate the in-house built Styrofoam box bench-top training model for retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS). <b><i>Materials and Methods:</i></b> This study was performed in the setting of a half-day RIRS course. During the course, participants performed RIRS on a locally built bench-top model. We recruited 26 participants, comprising 20 trainees and 6 experts. Trainees and experts were asked to fill a self-administered questionnaire assessing various components of RIRS to assess the face and content validity. For construct validity, experts using Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skills (OSATS) rated trainees and the mean OSATS score of junior versus senior residents was compared. <b><i>Results:</i></b> As per trainees, the model was 86% (4.3/5) realistic, which was backed by experts who found this model to be 87.6% (4.38/5) realistic. The overall face validity of the model was 86.4% (4.32/5). The overall content validity of this model was 83.4% (4.17/5). Majority of the participants thought that this tool is useful for learning technique (4.38 ± 0.49) and safe-conduct (4.31 ± 0.73) of the procedure. The trainees concurred that the skills acquired are transferable to the operating room (4.23 ± 0.76). However, the construct validity by comparing mean OSATS score of junior versus senior residents was 19.5 ± 3.5 and 23 ± 4.5. A <i>p</i> value of 0.11 could not be established. <b><i>Conclusion:</i></b> This study has demonstrated the face, content, and construct validity of the bench-top training model for RIRS. Further evaluation is necessary to compare its effectiveness against other available models to demonstrate concurrent validity.

Background: Mobile phones have become an essential part of life. It has become an important accessory carried by everybody not only because they make it easy to keep in touch with people but because of the various facilities they offer especially the internet. The charm of mobile phone is more among young generation and the increasing use may result in dependence. Aim was to study the usage pattern and dependence of mobile phones among medical students.Methods: A cross sectional study conducted among 200 medical students and studied the pattern of usage of mobile phones, common problems encountered and its dependence using a questionnaire. Statistical analysis done using chi square test and a p value of <0.05 is taken as significant.Results: In the present study 35% of the students were frequent users that is they used for >30 minutes per day. Female students were talking more to their parents and male students to their friends followed by their lovers. 49 of them never used to attend the call while driving and 58 of them used to stop the vehicle and attend the call. (p=0.002) Mobile phone dependence was also found to be increased which is evident from ringxiety experienced by 68 students (34%) and waking up from sleep to check the mobile for call or message by 62 students(p=0.000). Out of 68 students with ringxiety, 69% were males and 37% were females (p=0.040). 82 participants (41%) commented that life without mobile will be boring and 50 (25%) said that they will feel alone or unsafe (p=0.001).Conclusions: As dependence is increasing with the excessive use of mobile phones, some interventions are required to motivate the youth against it.
