The research objective was to determine the influence of third party fund, Non-perfoming loans (NPLs), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) on consumer loans disbursed. The analytical tool used panel data regression. The sample used in this study are 7 (seven) bank based on the type of operation. Results of regression, found that variable third party fund positive and significant impact on consumer loans. Variable Non-perfoming loans (NPLs) and not significant positive effect on consumer loans. This is possible due to high NPLs in the bank's financial statements only describe the overall value of the credit. Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) individually have a significant negative effect on consumer loans. The study reinforces previous findings that high capital still has not been followed by increased consumer credit.

One indicator of poverty in a country is still low access to financial facilities to the community. Therefore, a program of massive financial inclusion is currently being campaigned. Financial inclusion is a program that provides easy access to finance (savings and financing) to the community so that it can improve welfare. This study analyzes the part of financial inclusion, namely the influence of the amount of credit and deposits/investments on household income, household consumption expenditure, and household living facilities. The data is taken from the Indonesian Family Life Survey in the period 2000, 2007 and 2014. This research uses panel data regression analysis. The results of the study found that (a) there is a significant effect of the amount of credit on household income, (b) there is a significant influence on the amount of credit and savings/investments on household consumption expenditures, and (c) there is no significant effect on the amount of credit and savings or investment household residence facilities.

Profitability is used as a prime indicator to measure the sustainable performance of an organization. The current study made an attempt to apply the DuPont model to investigate the multilevel profitability determinants for the pharmaceutical industry of India. The study also estimates an empirical model to predict the association of profitability with factors such as profit margin, asset utilization, leverage, interest load and tax load of firms in the pharmaceutical industry of India. For this purpose, a dataset for 170 companies from 2010–2011 to 2018–2019 was analysed initially by using panel data regression followed by stepwise panel data regression. The study successfully applied and tested the DuPont model with respect to the firms of the pharmaceutical industry in India. It was found that the factors such as profit margin, asset utilization and leverage had a significant positive effect on the firms’ profitability and the factor interest load had a significant negative effect on the firms’ profitability. The tax load does not have an impact on the profitability of the pharmaceutical firms in India. These findings are expected to provide a guide for understanding the profitability of the firms in a better way.

AbstractThe purpose of this study are to measure and analyze operational efficiency that showed by bank financial ratios consisting of Operating Expenses to Operating Revenues (BOPO), Allowance for Possible Losses on Earning Assets (PPAP), Non Performing Financing (NPF) and Financing to Deposits Ratio (FDR) to Profitability that measured by Return on Assets (ROA). The population in this research is 11 Islamic Banking (BUS) by using total sampling technique in determine the sample. The data used in this study is secondary data obtained from the annual report of the bank period 2010 to 2016 published by each bank and matched with the data also by the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The analysis technique used is panel data regression analysis. Based on the result of F-test in this research, it can be concluded that the independent variables (operational efficiency) have a significant effect on the dependent variable (profitability). Meanwhile, the t-test shows that BOPO ratio has a significant negative effect on profitability. For the other three ratios, PPAP, NPF and FDR have no significant effect on profitability of Islamic Banks (BUS).Keywords: Islamic banks; Operational efficiency; Profitability.

This study examines the effect of sustainability reports on the performance of maqashid sharia in Islamic banks. The sample of this research is Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia for the period 2014-2018. The sustainability report is measured by the standard score of the GRI 4 sustainability report and the performance of Islamic banks is measured using maqashid sharia with 3 perspectives, namely education, justice and welfare. The method used is panel data regression with 3 research models. The results of the analysis of model 1 show that the sustainability report has a significant negative effect on the performance of maqashid sharia from an education perspective. In model 2, the results show that the sustainability report does not have a significant effect on the performance of maqashid syariah justice perspective. Model 3 shows the results that the sustainability report does not have a significant effect on the performance of maqashid syariah from the welfare perspective.

This study analyzes factors affecting net interest margin of joint-stock commercial banks in Vietnam. The paper uses the secondary data of 26 banks with 182 observations for the period of 2008–2014 and applies the panel data regression method. The empirical results indicate that lending scale, credit risk, capitalization, and in-terest rate have positive impacts on net interest margin. In contrast, managerial efficiency has a negative effect on net interest margin. However, bank size and loan to deposit ratio are statistically insig-nificant to net interest margin.

Abstract:This paper seeks to quantify the impact of transaction costs on cross-country economic growth. Our evidence from a cross-country panel data regression analysis reveals a persistent and robust negative effect of increasing transaction costs on the path of economic growth. The growth-enhancing effects of lower transaction costs are confirmed after controlling for the set of conditioning variables and further demonstrated in a cross-country growth model calibration. The results provide evidence that transaction costs might indeed be central to the study of cross-country productivity differences, suggest the importance of contractual relations and indicate their significant impact on cross-country economic performance over time.

Agency conflict is a phenomenon that occurs when a firm is doing its financing policies, especially of those related to the leverage strategies. Some of the former researches revealed some empirical evidence of the existence of a negative effect between growth opportunity, leverage, and debt maturity as one of the efforts in controlling the agency conflict between stockholders and bondholders. By using panel data regression model and data observation for over six years, this studies found that firms with high growth opportunity tend to use low leverage policies with short maturity to control the agency conflict between stockholders and bondholders. On the other hand, firms with low growth opportunity tend to use higher leverage policies with a longer period of debt maturity. Moreover, covenant as a moderating variable, could lower the negative relation between growth opportunity and leverage, but it could not diminish the negative relation between growth opportunity and debt maturity. Debt maturity and covenant also could not be use as substitution variable to lessen the agency conflict. Keywords: growth opportunity, leverage, debt maturity, covenant, stockholders and bondholders conflicts.JEL Classification: D92, G31
