The possibility of using an aqueous stratified system of antipyrine — sulfosalicylic acid — water for the selective isolation of scandium macro- and microquantities for subsequent determination is studied. The proposed extraction system eliminates the usage of toxic organic solvents. The organic phase with a volume of 1.2 to 2.0 ml, resulting from delamination of the aqueous phase containing antipyrine and sulfosalicylic acid is analysed to assess the possibility of using such systems for metal ions extraction. Condition necessary for the formation of such a phase were specified: the ratio of the initial components, their concentration, presence of inorganic salting out agents. The optimum ratio of antipyrine to sulfosalicylic acid is 2:1 at concentrations of 0.6 and 0.3 mol/liter in a volume of the aqueous phase of 10 ml. The obtained phase which consists of antipyrinium sulfosalicylate, free antipyrine and water, quantitatively extracts macro- and microquantities of scandium at pH = 1.54. Macro- and microquantities of yttrium, terbium, lanthanum, ytterbium and gadolinium are not extracted under the aforementioned conditions thus providing selective isolation of scandium from the bases containing yttrium, ytterbium, terbium, lanthanum, and gadolinium.

Linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) was chemically modified with grafting maleic anhydride (MAH) monomer on its backbone by melting blending. Nano-particles SiO2 was modified by cationic surfactant hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) and anionic surfactant sulfosalicylic acid (SSA) and added to PE coating respectively. Measurement of membrane potential showed that the coating containing modified SiO2 nano-particles had characteristic of ion selectivity. The properties of the different coatings were investigated according to relative industrial standards. Experimental results indicated that PE coating with ion selectivity had better performances, such as adhesion strength, cathodic disbonding and anti-corrosion, than those of coating without ion selectivity. Crystal structure of the coatings before and after alkali corrosion was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Structure of the coating without ion selectivity was damaged by NaOH alkali solution, causing mechanical properties being decreased. And the structure of the ion selective coatings was not affected.

Abstract Two types of urine protein dipsticks and the sulfosalicylic acid method were compared for their accuracy and specificity, with use of urine samples supplemented with various proteins. Dipsticks yield accurate results when the protein under consideration is restricted to albumin; the sulfosalicylic acid method accurately determines many kinds of proteins in addition to albumin. Detergents affect each of the methods, but changes in salt concentration only affect results by dipstick procedures. Dipsticks, which are based on the protein-error principle for indicators, are subject to some of the conditions that apply to the bromcresol green method for serum albumin determination.

The paper through the synergy before mixed Phytic acid and Sodium molybdate, Sulfosalicylic acid, Organic silane, and add the active substances PEG, Optimize the Passivation liquid formula of Brass surface, Phytic acid is the main ingredient, study the affection of Phytic acid Passive film Corrosion resistance on the three main Passivation conditions: Passivation temperature, time and Passivation solution PH value. The results show that,Phytic acid passivation film process recipes as follows:Phytic acid (quality score 50%) 2~5ml/L, sodium molybdate 4~8g/L, organic material 10~30ml/L, sulfosalicylic acid 3~7g/L, polyethylene glycol 2~6g/L, deactivated temperature 30~35°C, pH value 5, deactivated time 60s. The test showed that, the phytic acid passive film can obviously enhance the anti-corrosive performance on the brass surface, its corrosion resistance proportion chromates passive film is fairly good.

Abstract A wide variety of techniques are available for the screening, characterization, and quantification of monoclonal proteins. These techniques vary in regard to the expense, skill and intensity of labor involved, and sensitivity for detection of low levels of monoclonal proteins or of those with unusual migration. Detection of monoclonal proteins requires the use of high-resolution electrophoresis (either gel-based or capillary) and immunofixation (or immunosubtraction). Immunoelectrophoresis is not recommended. Urine for detection of monoclonal free light chains should be from 24-hour samples, and the aliquot should be concentrated at least 100-fold prior to electrophoresis and immunofixation. Dipstick and sulfosalicylic acid techniques are not sensitive enough to detect small quantities of monoclonal free light chains and should not be used as screening tests for this purpose.

Dysprosium (Dy) ternary complex was prepared using 5-sulfosalicylic acid (SSA) as the first ligand and 1,10-phenanthroline (Phen) as the second ligand, denoted as Dy(SSA)3Phen. The complex was blended with tri-cellulose acetate (TCA) via a cosolvent method to obtain polymer luminescent materials. The composition and structure of the rare-earth complex were characterized by means of elemental analysis, infrared (IR) spectra, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The fluorescence spectra displayed this pure Dy(SSA)3Phen complex, and the TCA/Dy(SSA)3Phen composites all emit blue light. The (90/10) composite possesses fine luminescent properties with quantum yield of 33.5% and thermal stability for potential usage as blue fluorescent materials.
