Abstract This article describes the assessment of effectiveness of gel and foaming agents for gas shut-off treatments in horizontal wells. The research is carried out through the implementation of a complex of special laboratory studies and analysis of the results using numerical modeling methods. A list of necessary laboratory experiments to minimize risks when carrying out work to limit gas inflow has been formulated, and approaches to carrying it out have been described. The program includes: free volume studies, filtration on linear and parallel core models. The results confirm the importance of studying not only the agent's physical characteristics at the reservoir conditions, but their interaction with reservoir fluids. The influence of different agents on the mobility of gas and oil was assessed as a result of linear core flooding experiments. In addition, the filtration tests on parallel cores were carried out aimed to determining the saturation selectivity. The series of numerical calculations was performed for the subsequent determination of the technological and economic effects of the treatment with gas blockers.

AbstractWe present the software framework underlying the NNPDF4.0 global determination of parton distribution functions (PDFs). The code is released under an open source licence and is accompanied by extensive documentation and examples. The code base is composed by a PDF fitting package, tools to handle experimental data and to efficiently compare it to theoretical predictions, and a versatile analysis framework. In addition to ensuring the reproducibility of the NNPDF4.0 (and subsequent) determination, the public release of the NNPDF fitting framework enables a number of phenomenological applications and the production of PDF fits under user-defined data and theory assumptions.

An approach to the simultaneous isolation of As (III) and Se (IV) from solutions on a new S,N-containing sorbent followed by determination of the analyte in the sorbent phase using total reflection X-ray fluorescence (TXRF) has been proposed. To match the goal, a sorbent with a branched structure was synthesized on the base of polyacrylamide modified with formaldehyde and hydrogen sulfide. This is a heteroatomic copolymer containing sulfide bridges in the chain and crosslinking by a tertiary amine. Conditions for the quantitative co-extraction of As (III) and Se (IV), i.e., sorption in solutions of 1 M HNO3 with calcium ions present, heating to 60°C and phase contact time of 1 h were determined. The mechanism of sorption interaction of the analytes under specified conditions is discussed. It is shown that a 100-fold excess of iron, zinc and copper does not interfere with the extraction of analytes, thus providing the possibility of As (III) and Se (IV) isolation from different types of raw materials and processed products using the synthesized sorbent. A method for the direct XRF quantification of arsenic and selenium with sr 0.09 and 0.08, respectively, in the sorbent phase has been developed. The correctness of the results was confirmed by the ICP-MS method in analysis of aqueous reference solution after dissolution of the sorbate in HNO3 (1:1).

Due to the fact that the bloodstain pattern analysis takes the first place in the structure of the study of biological objects, the question of the study of blood patterns is relevant today. The main task (that will allow to solve the following, which puts the investigation before the experts), is to prove that these patterns, which are examined, contain blood, (regardless of their remoteness, attempts to destroy patterns of blood), find out its types or refute traces of blood. If the expert fails to prove the presence of blood, he must refuse to address the following issues. Otherwise, the expert may obtain results that will ultimately lead him to an erroneous conclusion. The article considers options for extraction of old blood stains in order to establish the presence of blood by the method of thin-layer vertical chromatography. This question is still relevant, as biological material can change under the influence of environmental factors and time and this can be an obstacle to establishing the fact of its presence on physical evidence, and also it can do harm to the quality of the study and the correctness of the conclusions, made as a result of the study. In order to select substances, that could provide rapid extraction of old blood stains, a study was performed using weak solutions of alkalis and acids and subsequent determination of the presence of blood by thin layer vertical chromatography. In immunological studies, there have been cases where blood crusts on non-hygroscopic surfaces under the influence of natural factors (such as high temperatures and direct sun rays) have not been extracted in saline and distilled water for several days. In addition, when using known blood samples in the reactions, the dependence of the saturation of the extracts on the age of the samples and the time of their extraction. These observations prompted researches in the sector of biological research and accounting of the Cherkasy NDEKTs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on methods for extracting old blood stains, which would allow to detect blood in the shortest possible time by the method of thin-layer vertical chromatography.

Introduction. The article studies the strength of hardened ash-soil materials, with different ratios of pond ash, natural clay soil and lime in various proportions when adding a stabilizing additive “Sattelit”.Materials and methods. As part of the study, tests were carried out to determine the maximum density of dry soil and the optimal mixture of ash-soil materials (100% ash-and-slag mixture, 25% ash-and-slag and 75% loam and 50% ash-and-slag and 50% loam), and the subsequent determination of the ultimate strength for uniaxial compression at age seven, twenty-eight and ninety days. The samples were gaining strength in the normal hardening chamber. The samples are placed in a device for capillary water saturation of the samples.Results. As a result of the study, a regularity of the increase in the strength of the soil-ash mixtrues was revealed, depending on the amount of binder, the proportion of materials and the age of the mixture. It was also revealed that with an increase in the dosage of clay soil in the pond ash, the strength of the obtained soil-ash mixtrues sharply increases.Discussion and conclusion. The results of the studies carried out show the potential possibility of using zoological soil materials fortified with lime when installing an additional layer of the base of highways with capital or lightweight pavement on roads in the I-V road-climatic zone. However, additional research is required to determine the frost resistance and water resistance of zoological soil composites reinforced with lime.

The technology of the schemes development automation for areal coverage with aerial and space photography materials is proposed. Within its framework, a method for automatic coordinate referencing of images on the Earth’s ellipsoid surface with the subsequent determination of nomenclature sheets of topographic maps on a composite table was substantiated and implemented. The proposed method is based on the algorithms for calculating the azimuths and lengths of lines connecting the projections of the photographing points (inverse geodetic problem) and the coordinates of the images corner points’ projections (direct geodetic problem). The formulas for solving the geodetic tasks of the images coordinate referencing over long distances are obtained as a result of transforming and integrating the equations of geodetic lines described by the Claireau equation though F. Bessel’s method. It can be used when planning and performing aerial and space surveys, as well as to determine the cartographic base in order to select the starting points for photogrammetric condensation of the geodetic network. The technology is focused on the automation of phototriangulation technical design procedures and is good for linking images to the corresponding sections of electronic and digital maps.

This paper describes, in detail, the research of the influence of the trial run of high-precision reducers on the change of their characterizing parameters with the subsequent determination of the methodology for the identification of their critical parameters and positioning accuracy. The research was carried out on a sample of high-precision reducers during a 48 h run-in with the evaluation of changes in their characterizing parameters. The developed methodology unifies the approach to measuring the static and dynamic properties of high-precision reducers to identify their critical parameters and positioning accuracy. The article also points to the need for the correct implementation of the process for the introduction of the bearing reducer into operation after its incorporation into the relevant equipment with emphasis on improving the monitored critical parameters. The running-in of reducers is a little-explored area in terms of its effect on changing the wide range of characterizing properties of high-precision reducers. At the same time, it is complicated by the non-existent uniform methodology for the implementation of their run-in.

AbstractThere is an urgent need to develop effective interventions resistant to the evolving variants of SARS-CoV-2. Nanobodies (Nbs) are stable and cost-effective agents that can be delivered by novel aerosolization route to treat SARS-CoV-2 infections efficiently. However, it remains unknown if they possess broadly neutralizing activities against the prevalent circulating strains. We found that potent neutralizing Nbs are highly resistant to the convergent variants of concern that evade a large panel of neutralizing antibodies (Abs) and significantly reduce the activities of convalescent or vaccine-elicited sera. Subsequent determination of 9 high-resolution structures involving 6 potent neutralizing Nbs by cryoelectron microscopy reveals conserved and novel epitopes on virus spike inaccessible to Abs. Systematic structural comparison of neutralizing Abs and Nbs provides critical insights into how Nbs uniquely target the spike to achieve high-affinity and broadly neutralizing activity against the evolving virus. Our study will inform the rational design of novel pan-coronavirus vaccines and therapeutics.
