The education system of the 21st century mainly accentuates on pragmatic and collaborative learning where field trip is one of the most prominent methods of learning. Considering this, Brac University arranges a lot of experiential learning activities. Visiting different programs of BRAC is one of them where every student of the university is taken to observe the development trends in rural areas of Bangladesh. This study explores the impact of those visits. The methodology of this research includes both qualitative and quantitative approaches. A survey was conducted where 200 students were selected who visited programs of BRAC. Subsequently, a focus group discussion was arranged where 40 students had taken part. The study shows that this field visit helps students becoming more attached to villages, and it inhibits a sense of responsibility among many of them. This research may help policy makers to design their curriculum more effectively in the future.

This study considers and seeks to assess the socio-economic challenges of students with disabili-ties at the University of Gondar, particularly at the "Maraki" campus. The findings of the study, therefore, are believed to show the challenges of students with disabilities and attempt to reckon the barriers which they face while attending school in the study area. To acquire sufficient and detailed information, both qualitative and quantitative research approaches have been utilized. Besides, to achieve the ultimate objectives of the study, the researchers employed a descriptive narrative research design. Besides, the researchers, while investigating the study, used three basic instruments in the process of collecting necessary data for the study, namely: a survey questionnaire, an interview, and a focus group discussion. The findings of the study are shown in depending on their particular impairment and some pertinent socio-economic challenges, most of the disabled students on the "Maraki" campus have experienced barriers to accessing quality of education. The findings of the study revealed that lack of money is the main hardship for those who lived with disability for the attainment of their education. Some of them were the head of the household. They have children and are unable to do additional work to get more income to meet their basic needs.

In recent years, tourism gentrification has made great progress in rural areas and has had significant impacts on these areas’ development, specifically in the domains of the economy, living standards, community, culture, and environment. Tourists play a key role in developing tourism gentrification in rural areas, but research investigating tourism gentrification in rural areas from the tourist perspective is scarce. To fill this gap, we focus on tourism gentrification and develop a measurement scale from the tourist perspective through multiple qualitative and quantitative steps. Our findings confirm that tourism gentrification in rural areas from the tourist perspective comprises eight dimensions: economic growth, enhanced environment, enhanced living standards, individual civilization, improved communication, promoted social environment, cultural appreciation, and improved individual quality. Through development and validation of the scale, we hope to offer a comprehensive referencing index of tourism gentrification in rural areas to policy makers and rural tourism practitioners.

AbstractAlthough a great deal of attention has been paid to entrepreneurship education, only a few studies have analysed the impact of extra-curricular entrepreneurial activities on students’ entrepreneurial intention. The aim of this study is to fill this gap by exploring the role played by Student-Led Entrepreneurial Organizations (SLEOs) in shaping the entrepreneurial intention of their members. The analysis is based on a survey that was conducted in 2016 by one of the largest SLEOs in the world: the Junior Enterprises Europe (JEE). The main result of the empirical analysis is that the more time students spent on JEE and the higher the number of events students attended, the greater their entrepreneurial intention was. It has been found that other important drivers also increase students’ entrepreneurial intention, that is, the Science and Technology field of study and the knowledge of more than two foreign languages. These results confirm that SLEOs are able to foster students’ entrepreneurial intention. The findings provide several theoretical, practical and public policy implications. SLEOs are encouraged to enhance their visibility and lobbying potential in order to be recognized more as drivers of student entrepreneurship. In addition, it is advisable for universities and policy makers to support SLEOs by fostering their interactions with other actors operating in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, who promote entrepreneurship and technology transfer activities. Lastly, this paper advises policy makers to assist SLEOs’ activities inside and outside the university context.

This introductory chapter explains how different research questions and methods can contribute to better understanding of contemporary fathers, fatherhood, and fathering. Given the enhanced methodological diversity and increased sophistication of methods across the social sciences, embracing qualitative and quantitative approaches, traditional (such as interviewing) and contemporary approaches (such as netnography and visual methods), and general ‘handbooks’ offering basic introductions to social research have limited use for advanced researchers and students. The book aims to link detailed concerns about conducting individual projects to wider methodological debates concerning the value of different forms and sources of data, the negotiation of research relationships, and the impact of research findings on participants, policy makers, employers, and a wider public.

Teacher knowledge of, and comfort with, assistive technology (AT) is key for student use of AT. Previous research identified the AT competencies needed for instructing students with visual impairments (VI) and level of competency required in each. The authors selected 20 of the competencies most appropriate for general education teachers instructing students with VI and investigated the impact of pre-service teacher training in AT on their self-rated competency levels. Pre-service teachers were given a pre-test (using qualitative and quantitative measures), trained in AT using a scavenger hunt in the AT Lab at the university where the study took place, and then completed a post-test of the same measures. Participants could name more AT software and devices on the post-test and viewed themselves as more competent with regards to the 20 SAT competencies.

Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan model evaluasi kinerja pendidikan inklusif (EKPI) di SD dengan menggunakan pen-dekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Tahapan penelitian dimodifikasi dari model Borg & Gall dengan melibatkan Kepala Sekolah, guru, dan orang tua. Data diperoleh melalui teknik Focus Group Discussion, wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) model EKPI merupakan salah satu model evaluasi yang baik berdasarkan hasil penilaian pakar maupun praktisi penyelenggara pendidikan inklusif di SD; (2) model evaluasi kinerja SD penyelenggara pendidikan inklusif memiliki tujuh komponen, yakni kepemimpinan, rencana strategis, fokus terhadap peserta didik-orang tua, analisis kebutuhan, fokus ter-hadap guru-staf, pengelolaan kelas inklusif, dan hasil; (3) evaluasi model EKPI dalam proses implementasi di SD mampu meng-ungkap data secara: (a) komprehensif; (b) faktual; (c) fleksibel; dan (d)  berorientasi keragaman layanan. Kata kunci: pengembangan model evaluasi, pendidikan inklusif, SD. ______________________________________________________________DEVELOPING A MODEL OF PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IMPLEMENTING INCLUSIVE EDUCATIONAbstract This study aims to produce a model of performance evaluation of elementary schools (ESs) implementing inclusive education by using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research steps used the model by Borg & Gall, involving principals, teachers, and students’ parents. The data were collected through Focus Group Discussion (FGD), interviews, observations, document study, and discussions. Based on the results of the study, the following conclusions can be drawn. (1) The EKPI model is a good evaluation model. It is based on the result ofthe assessment by experts, usesrs and practitioners of inclusive education instruction; (2) The model of an evaluation of the performances of ESs implementing inclusive education has seven components, i.e. leadership, strategic plan, focus on students and parents, needs analysis, focus on teachers and staff, and inclusive class management, and product of the inclusive education implementation; (3) The EKPI model implemented  in the elementri schools can reveal data (a) comprehensively, (b) factualy, and (c) flexibly, (d) it was also oriented to a variety of services. Ideally, community empowerment programs in rural areas should not be implemented once in a while. This is very important to maintain the aspect of sustainability and achieve the goals maximally. People in rural areas are the target of empowerment programs considering the many problems that exist there. Statistical data shows that the distribution of the majority of the national poor is in rural areas. One method of reducing poverty is through the development of tourist villages. The purpose of this community service program is to increase the understanding and skills of the community in Bejijong Tourism Village, especially in the field of homestay management and online marketing of citizen handicraft products. The stages in this empowerment program through three methods, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The preparation method was carried out with focus group discussions with residents and field observations. The method of implementation is carried out by the methods of socialization, training and mentoring. Meanwhile, the evaluation method is carried out through discussions with partners. The results of this activity indicate that the understanding and competence of citizens has increased for the better. The results of this activity were measured using a questionnaire (pre-test and post-test) and calculated using a Likert scale.abstrakProgram pemberdayaan masyarakat di wilayah pedesaan idealnya dilaksanakan tidak dengan sekali waktu. Hal ini menjadi sangat penting untuk menjaga aspek keberlanjutan dan mencapai tujuan secara maksimal. Masyarakat di perdesaan menjadi sasaran program pemberdayaan mengingat banyak sekali permasalahan yang ada di sana. Data statistik menunjukkan sebaran penduduk miskin nasional mayoritas berada di wilayah perdesaan. Salah satu metode untuk mengurangi angka kemiskinan adalah melalui pengembangan desa wisata. Tujuan dari program pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan masyarakat di Desa Wisata Bejijong khususnya dalam bidang pengelolaan homestay dan pemasaran daring produk kerajinan warga. Tahapan dalam program pemberdayaan ini melalui tiga metode yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi.  Metode persiapan dilakukan dengan metode focus group discussion bersama  warga dan observasi lapangan. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan dengan metode sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan pendampingan. Sedangkan metode evaluasi dilaksanakan dengan metode diskusi dengan mitra. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman dan kompetensi warga  mengalami peningkatan kea rah yang lebih baik. Hasil kegiatan ini diukur dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner (pre tes dan pos tes) dan dihitung dengan skala likert.

This paper examines the impact of ICT on the reading habits of the students of Tumkur University. The survey was conducted using a well design and structured questionnaire. A total of 440 postgraduate students of faculty of Arts, Science and Commerce were chosen. The result of this study showed that most of the students are female (61.6%) and most of them (72.3%) are from rural areas. The study found that students read books daily at home (69.5%) followed by classroom (51.1%). The students strongly agreed that the print books are costlier than Internet sources (32.3%). The study results also indicated that students are accessed Internet every day and the students used ICT in support of their academic work. The study recommends that the university authorities in to provide more ICT facilities to all the postgraduate students. It is also necessary to conduct more ICT based learning programmes to the students.

The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of WhatsApp usage in disseminating information to students at the Management, Zimbabwe Open University's Mashonaland West Regional Campus. This study employed a mixed methodology wherein both the qualitative and quantitative approaches were used. Data was collected using questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaires were distributed to students through WhatsApp groups for all faculties. A total of 255 questionnaires were distributed to students through the existing WhatsApp groups. Of the distributed questionnaires, 128 were returned, and of these, 69 were usable for data analysis. The study revealed that the majority of students utilize WhatsApp for communication with the university. The other finding was that WhatsApp communication was characterized by data bundle costs and internet connectivity challenges. The study recommended that there be a WhatsApp policy and widening of the use for teaching and learning.
