The study aimed to predict how much father and mother’s emotional intelligence influence their child’s emotional intelligence. The sample of 164 higher secondary children and their parents was selected randomly from three educational institutions in Irinjalakuda municipality. There was a preponderance of participants belonging to middle socio-economic status. Single children were 16%, a child with only one sibling was 60% and a child with two siblings were 24%. Approximately ⅓ of the sample were males and ⅔ were females. The Brief Emotional Intelligence Scale was used to gather the information from the sample taken. Descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation was primarily analysed. Pearson correlation was run to verify the association concerning child emotional intelligence and their parent’s emotional intelligence and a statistically significant relation was obtained. To determine the variance of parental emotional intelligence on their children emotional intelligence simple linear regression and multiple linear regression were performed. Simple linear regression was used to determine the individual influence of each parent and multiple linear regression were executed to understand the combined effect of parental emotional intelligence on their child.

The present study sought to develop a scale to measure the values adoption of primary school children and explore whether emotional intelligence of primary school children is associated with values which are taught through curricular activities. First, the Value Adoption Scale (VAS) was developed in Study 1 by conducting exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and correlation was examined in Study 2. Data were collected using the Ten Years Emotional Intelligence Scale (TYEIS) and the Value Scale consisting of eight items. Data were analyzed with Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis. Results of data analysis indicated that there was a moderate correlation between emotional intelligence and values, but regression analysis revealed that emotional intelligence had weak predictive power for values adoption. It was concluded that teaching values through curricular activities is not useful to foster emotional intelligence among primary school children. Results of the research are discussed and addressed along with the relevant literature.

Abstract Background The Preclinical Alzheimer Cognitive Composite (PACC) is a composite score which can detect the first signs of cognitive impairment, which can be of importance for research and clinical practice. It is designed to be administered in person; however, in-person assessments are costly, and are difficult during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Objective To assess the feasibility of performing the PACC assessment with videoconferencing, and to compare the validity of this remote PACC with the in-person PACC obtained previously. Methods Participants from the HEalth and Ageing Data IN the Game of football (HEADING) Study who had already undergone an in-person assessment were re-contacted and re-assessed remotely. The correlation between the two PACC scores was estimated. The difference between the two PACC scores was calculated and used in multiple linear regression to assess which variables were associated with a difference in PACC scores. Findings Of the 43 participants who were invited to this external study, 28 were re-assessed. The median duration in days between the in-person and the remote assessments was 236.5 days (7.9 months) (IQR 62.5). There was a strong positive correlation between the two assessments for the PACC score, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0·82 (95% CI 0·66, 0·98). The multiple linear regression found that the only predictor of the PACC difference was the time between assessments. Interpretation This study provides evidence on the feasibility of performing cognitive tests online, with the PACC tests being successfully administered through videoconferencing. This is relevant, especially during times when face-to-face assessments cannot be performed.

Abstract.Emotional intelligence is a set of skills that enable the individual to manage their own emotions and those of others, making it easier to achieve established objectives and create wellbeing at organizational, academic and personal level. Job satisfaction is a positive emotional assessment of work experience that is related to the productivity and well-being. In this regard, the aim of this study was to analyze to what extent emotional intelligence can increase job satisfaction. To achieve this goal are counted with a mixed sample of 377 workers (M = 172, F= 205) in public and private companies of Portugal, that answered a questionnaire previously validated by other authors, which mediates the three main variables of study: emotional intelligence, organizational stress and job satisfaction. The results obtained through the Pearson correlation tested the hypotheses in the expected direction with significant negative correlation between emotional intelligence and organizational stress and a significant positive correlation between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction. Emotional intelligence workers anticipated job satisfaction R multiple = .332, R2 = .111, F (6, 370) = 7.66, p <.001, the most significant variables as predictors of emotional intelligence, Auto - courage (? = .184, p = .001), and Empathy and emotional contagion (? =.141, p = .016).Keywords: Emotional Intelligence and Job Satisfaction. = .141, p = .016).Palabras claves: inteligencia emocional y satisfacción laboral.

The process of predicting water quality over a catchment area is complex due to the inherently nonlinear interactions between the water quality parameters and their temporal and spatial variability. The empirical, conceptual, and physical distributed models for the simulation of hydrological interactions may not adequately represent the nonlinear dynamics in the process of water quality prediction, especially in watersheds with scarce water quality monitoring networks. To overcome the lack of data in water quality monitoring and prediction, this paper presents an approach based on the feedforward neural network (FNN) model for the simulation and prediction of dissolved oxygen (DO) in the Nyando River basin in Kenya. To understand the influence of the contributing factors to the DO variations, the model considered the inputs from the available water quality parameters (WQPs) including discharge, electrical conductivity (EC), pH, turbidity, temperature, total phosphates (TPs), and total nitrates (TNs) as the basin land-use and land-cover (LULC) percentages. The performance of the FNN model is compared with the multiple linear regression (MLR) model. For both FNN and MLR models, the use of the eight water quality parameters yielded the best DO prediction results with respective Pearson correlation coefficient R values of 0.8546 and 0.6199. In the model optimization, EC, TP, TN, pH, and temperature were most significant contributing water quality parameters with 85.5% in DO prediction. For both models, LULC gave the best results with successful prediction of DO at nearly 98% degree of accuracy, with the combination of LULC and the water quality parameters presenting the same degree of accuracy for both FNN and MLR models.
