There has been a kind of “turn to the family” on the part of the Christian churches in the past decade, manifesting a concern for what is judged to be the western family in “crisis.” Unfortunately, the voices of religion have had little more effect than the voices of psychology or sociology in either healing or empowering the family, and they have had perhaps less success in interpreting the difficulties which beset the contemporary family as an institution. This failure may represent simply the intractability of the problems which individuals and families face. It may also, however, represent an almost tragic perception on the part of many persons that the Christian tradition regarding family life is today too oppressive to yield a prophetic, a healing or a freeing word.

Latar belakang dalam pengabdian ini adalah dampak yang ditimbulkan dari covid 19 sangat dirasakan bagi keluarga, tak terkecuali pada aspek perekonomian dan psikologis keluarga.. Tujuan kegiatan Pengabdian Pada Masyarakat ini adalah bertujuan untuk memberikan pelayanan konseling kepada keluarga yang terdampak covid 19 untuk dapat meningkatkan motivasi keluarga agar dapat menjalani kehidupan dengan lebih baik lagi. Sasaran kegiatan ini adalah Keluarga yang terdampak covid 19 Kecamatan Telagasari Desa Kalijaya Kabupaten Karawang yang berjumlah satu keluarga yang terdiri dari 4 orang yaitu ayah, ibu, dan dua anak. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini terdiri dari beberapa tahapan yaitu tahap awal yang diri dari membangun hubungan konseling dengan klien, mendefinisikan masalah, penjajakan, dan menegosiasikan kontak, selanjutnya tahap kerja yang meliputi penjajakan masalah, bantuan yang diberikan terhadap klien, dan tahap akhir yaitu progress klien. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah proses konseling berhasil untuk meningkatkan motivasi keluarga yang terdampak covid 19. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan adanya perubahan yang terjadi pada klien setelah mengikuti kegiatan konseling yaitu perubahan klien tidak terpuruk lagi dan berusaha bangkit mencari nafkah dan anak-anak klien tetap semangat, sehingga dikatakan untuk program layanan konseling ini dikatakan berhasil. Kata Kunci: Layanan Konseling, Keluarga, Covid 19 The background in this service is that the impact of Covid 19 is felt on families, including the economic and psychological aspects of the family. The purpose of this Community Service activity is to provide counseling services to families affected by Covid 19 to increase family motivation. in order to live life better. The targets of this activity are families affected by covid 19, Telagasari Subdistrict, Kalijaya Village, Karawang Regency, which consists of one family consisting of 4 people, namely father, mother, and two children. The method used in this activity consists of several stages, namely the initial stage which consists of building a counseling relationship with clients, defining problems, exploring, and negotiating contacts, then the work stage includes exploring problems, assistance provided to clients, and the final stage, namely progress. client. The results obtained were that the counseling process was successful in increasing the motivation of families affected by covid 19. This is evidenced by the changes that occur in clients after participating in counseling activities, namely changes in clients do not fall anymore and try to get up to earn a living and the client's children remain enthusiastic, so that the counseling service program is said to be successful. The traditional institution of the family within Roman Catholic Christianity and Christianity in general is in an invidious position in contemporary society, partly because it lacks an agreed definition in a fluid global context. The church is an institution in which families subsist and which both needs and bolsters the family unit for its own existence and stability. However, all major churches seem to be stuck in outdated traditional modes of understanding which are exclusive and cause great distress to many who do not conform to them. The Roman Catholic Church has recently inaugurated a discussion of pastoral challenges currently facing family life. This is an attempt to evaluate critically its initial findings through deconstructing the traditional notion of family on which the Church teaching seems to rely.

From a historical point of view, it can be argued that the cultivated arrangement of the relationship between man and woman, the support of the institution of marriage, and therefore families, have always been one of the important requirements of individual cultures and religions. There is also a close connection between the state of society (and the dominant requirements in it) and the form of personal and family life. In the Western cultural space with the decisive ecclesiastical discourse, the view of marriage and the family was not spared from one-sidedness and problematic practice. The current magisterium of the Catholic Church remains critical of some contemporary trends and phenomena, including the questioning of the very institution of marriage and the family. At the same time, it remains open to new challenges in this field.The article aims to critically reflect on some issues related to the current situation of marriage and the family, especially the individual and social ethical context of married and family life in contemporary Western culture.Using a reflection of the findings of selected authors, especially of sociologists (Lipovetsky, Beck), the article demonstrates the reality of problematic „points“ of the present time (marked by magisterial texts by Pope Francis) and their connection to married and family life. It thus verifies the thesis that the preconditions for marriage and the family are currently weakened in the Western area. This state of affairs include even the institutions that want to invoke the necessary personal and social responses to the problematic situation. Although the study does not capture the full range of issues and problems currently associated with marriage and the family, it does demonstrate that marital and family relationships in contemporary Western culture are conditioned by a number of factors. Those cannot be fully influenced by the individuals directly affected. The study points to the crucial role of politics, including its responsibility and to the exclusive role of the Church. The Church can, in many respects, increase respect for the institutions and bring a concrete help to the people.The result of the study is an emphasis on the fact that, in the current situation, it is not easy for individuals or families to maintain their own integrative values. It is not easy to withstand the pressures from the outside, to not succumb to the vision of success offered by the majority society. It is also problematic that the focus of politics is not predominantly on the family but, above all, on the immediate interests of the individual. Politics is irresponsibly undercutting itself in order to get into favor of individuals.The conclusion of the study confirms the validity of the magisterial belief that the prosperity of the family is crucial for the future of the world and the Church. Marriage and the family are natural communities that correspond to a person‘s anthropological setting. They allow him or her to find his or her own identity. They are a guarantee of the humanization of the person and society, a protection against deformations of the individualistic or collectivist type.

The analyses conducted in this paper aimed at presenting the standard for the marriage and family, which is created in Polish TV series, and subsequently noting the pastoral challenges arising from them. The quantitative analysis method was applied to stress the issues presented in the TV series. The moral issues dealt with in the series and their popularity in various social groups in Poland were the criteria for choosing the TV series. The qualitative analysis has shown that Polish TV series promotes alternative forms of marriage and family life. They are very different from the Catholic model of marriage and family. This provided grounds for the conclusions. It was observed that the Church is obliged to take up new pastoral challenges as a result of the TV series’ impact of Poles’ views and beliefs. Preparing young people to the sacrament of marriage and education for life in the family should be a priority. The Church should become involved in creating TV series which promote the Christian model of the marriage and family.

The existence of transgender people in the community cannot be denied. Some of them also have achievements both nationally and internationally. Some transgender individuals have strong self-esteem that persist in the midst of a society where the majority ignore and even reject them. Others experience feelings of grief and even despair until suicide due to severe rejection especially from the family. The church as a family home that must love and protect each member of the congregation must not be favoritism. The church needs to reach out to transgender people through pastoral care. Counseling services also need to be opened for them so that mental recovery can occur. Keberadaan orang transgender dalam komunitas tidak dapat disangkal. Beberapa dari mereka juga memiliki prestasi baik secara nasional maupun internasional. Beberapa individu transgender memiliki harga diri yang kuat yang bertahan di tengah-tengah masyarakat di mana mayoritas mengabaikan dan bahkan menolak mereka. Yang lain mengalami perasaan sedih dan bahkan putus asa sampai bunuh diri karena penolakan yang parah terutama dari keluarga. Gereja sebagai rumah keluarga yang harus mencintai dan melindungi setiap anggota jemaat tidak boleh pilih kasih. Gereja perlu menjangkau orang-orang transgender melalui perawatan pastoral. Layanan konseling juga perlu dibuka untuk mereka sehingga pemulihan mental dapat terjadi.
