From a historical point of view, it can be argued that the cultivated arrangement of the relationship between man and woman, the support of the institution of marriage, and therefore families, have always been one of the important requirements of individual cultures and religions. There is also a close connection between the state of society (and the dominant requirements in it) and the form of personal and family life. In the Western cultural space with the decisive ecclesiastical discourse, the view of marriage and the family was not spared from one-sidedness and problematic practice. The current magisterium of the Catholic Church remains critical of some contemporary trends and phenomena, including the questioning of the very institution of marriage and the family. At the same time, it remains open to new challenges in this field. The article aims to critically reflect on some issues related to the current situation of marriage and the family, especially the individual and social ethical context of married and family life in contemporary Western culture.Using a reflection of the findings of selected authors, especially of sociologists (Lipovetsky, Beck), the article demonstrates the reality of problematic „points“ of the present time (marked by magisterial texts by Pope Francis) and their connection to married and family life. It thus verifies the thesis that the preconditions for marriage and the family are currently weakened in the Western area. This state of affairs include even the institutions that want to invoke the necessary personal and social responses to the problematic situation. Although the study does not capture the full range of issues and problems currently associated with marriage and the family, it does demonstrate that marital and family relationships in contemporary Western culture are conditioned by a number of factors. Those cannot be fully influenced by the individuals directly affected. The study points to the crucial role of politics, including its responsibility and to the exclusive role of the Church. The Church can, in many respects, increase respect for the institutions and bring a concrete help to the people. The result of the study is an emphasis on the fact that, in the current situation, it is not easy for individuals or families to maintain their own integrative values. It is not easy to withstand the pressures from the outside, to not succumb to the vision of success offered by the majority society. It is also problematic that the focus of politics is not predominantly on the family but, above all, on the immediate interests of the individual. Politics is irresponsibly undercutting itself in order to get into favor of individuals. The conclusion of the study confirms the validity of the magisterial belief that the prosperity of the family is crucial for the future of the world and the Church. Marriage and the family are natural communities that correspond to a person‘s anthropological setting. They allow him or her to find his or her own identity. They are a guarantee of the humanization of the person and society, a protection against deformations of the individualistic or collectivist type.

Most researchers of socialization processes agree that the primary socialization carried out in the family is crucial. The phenomenon of the family was considered in terms of psychological, sociological, anthropological, philosophical, biological and cultural approaches. Now the question of surrogacy is being studied in terms of the psychology of the life path of the individual; as manifestations of the meaning of life, will, responsibility; as a world of the subjective, where is always something more. Many scientists pay attention to the methodology, organization, functioning of foster families; the problems of lifestyle of orphan children in general, and in particular – in a professionally foster family. Scientists have considered the motivation of the adopted child into the family and some socio-psychological characteristics of parents. However, there are almost no studies of some individual-typological features that dysfunctionally affect family relationships, although these features may be the reason for the denial of the family's ability to be a substitute. The relevance of the study is due to the need of supplement the structural and semantic components of the psychological diagnosis of potential parents in foster families. The empirical study was conducted on the basis of the Odessa Regional Center for Social Services for Families, Children and Youth, a territorial division of the Odessa Regional State Administration. In testing took a part about 30 applicants for foster parents. With the help of Individual-typological questionnaire LM Sobchyk (ITO) there was created an average statistical portrait of candidates for the role of parents in foster families. They are characterized by a high level of extraversion (48.6%); average level of rigidity (82.9%), aggression (54.3%), anxiety (82.9%), introversion (71.5%), lability (74.3%), sensitivity (62.9%), spontaneity (60%). All these qualities positively characterize all members of the sample and confirm their reliability as potential parents in foster families. These conclusions can be used by psychologists in the selection of candidates for the role of foster parents in foster families, as well as in psychological counseling.

This chapter explores the nature of family life and the role of the law in family relationships to identify the particular challenges facing family lawyers. In particular, it considers how the law interacts with family life, how family relationships are identified in law, and what role the law plays in regulating family behaviour. The diversity and personalised experience of ‘family’ means that the role of the law in these processes is complex. There are two central issues facing family lawyers. First, the identification of a relationship as being one of ‘family’ for the purposes of the law is an important label, and may give rise to specific rights and obligations, even if the particular relationship bears no significance for the individual. Secondly, identifying the nature of the rights and obligations arising from a family relationship is central to determining the significance of the relationship.

The division of family responsibilities, which are designed for each household member and harmonious family relationships are one of the most important keynotes of St. John’s Chrysostom preaching. In order to explain this issue he wrote homily on the Epistle to the Ephesians. According to it, the role of father in household is based on following Christ. Husbant’s relationship to his wife, especially respect for her, should be built by analogy to the relationship between Christ and the Church. The author calls the family a “small church”, comparing it to the Church as the Mystical Body. Living of the “small Church” is permeated with prayer and Holy Scripture reading. Firstly husband – the head of the family, performs the following Christian actions: reads inspired texts, strengthens himself by the sacrament of the Eucharist (that is , he takes the Holy Communion). And thanks to that going to church and celebrate the Lord’s Day, are the usual practice of all members of the parva Ecclesia.

The crisis of a unified infrastructure of the health care system requires a transformation of the provision of medical care by bringing it directly to the patient, to the family, combining the elements of treatment and prevention, medical and social assistance at its level. All over the world, the important role of primary medical and social care (PHC) in protecting the health of the population is recognized, while the main place in the organization of out-of-hospital primary medical care is general medical practice. By actively modifying certain aspects of family life, GPs have the opportunity to make wider use of the possibilities of preventive medicine, in many ways to prevent the onset and development of diseases.

Raphael’s statements that nothing is private in Utopia and that “the whole island [of Utopia] is like a single family” lead one to consider whether the Utopian system of education and habituation is an attempt to undo the natural connections that join parents to children. While Raphael argues that the community can only supersede the individual once these natural ties have been loosened and the role of the family been usurped, More recognizes that the love that serves as the foundation of family life should be allowed to flourish because it is also the proper foundation of an entire society.

Many of the societal challenges associated with the genetic revolution rest on predictions about the effects of the future development and diffusion of technologies for manipulating the human genome. Identity testing is different. Relatively sophisticated techniques for identity testing using DNA currently exist, and these techniques are already creating conflicts and challenges for families and policymakers. More precisely, scientific advances and social trends are raising difficult questions about the source and nature of parental obligation, the steps required to protect the privacy of individuals when suspicion begins to corrode family relationships and the role of attorneys and other professionals in these volatile situations.

Fathers of the Church have left comments on Genesis as well as other works, which explain not only the biblical descriptions of the origins of the world and man, but also Gen 4: 1-16, where it speaks of the sin of Cain. In this paper we present an assessment of the sin of Cain made by some of the Fathers of the Church. It should be noted that they do not stop only on the sin of fratricide, although condemn it the most, but focus their attention also on other sins of Cain, which preceded and led to the killing of Abel by his jealousy, anger, evil thoughts, insincerity. Fathers of the Church recognize the individual and social character of the sins of Cain, which manifests itself in leaving his from God and separation from relatives. This resulted in a permanent division of the family. Fathers also point to the mercy of God and a willingness to forgive. Commentators of Gen 4:1-16 biblical text, however, do not see in Cain repent for any sin committed by him.

Global competence refers to individual’s attitudes towards other cultures, basic knowledge level about the world, the competence to survive in a cultural-crossing environment and the role of citizens of the world. It has been increasingly significant nowadays, especially for children representing the future. Therefore, the global thinking patterns of perspective teachers who will teach future children should be valued. However, the current situation of normal undergraduates’ global competence is worrying. Hence, the global competence of prospective teachers should be enhanced without hesitation. Several ways have been put forward while some disadvantages still exist.

There is a line of titles of Saint Mary mentioned by Pope Francis in his published encyclicals and apostolic exortations. However, we summarize them into seven new titles, namely, Saint Mary is the daughter of Zion, mother, queen, woman, star, bride, and the spring of happiness for the little people. We consider that the number seven title has opened the minds of the faithful about the joy of believing in the Triune God who saves the world and the significant role of Saint Mary in the success of this exalted work. The recognition of the seven new titles aims to support the understanding of the faith of the Catholic faithful in the Blessed Mary as Mother of God and Virgin. Apart from that, another goal is that the quality of the Church's faith in the virginity of Saint Mary and her mother of God will be strengthened. What kind of quality do you want to affirm? What he wants to affirm is the quality of the Church's faith which is rooted in the past of the Old Testament, which is flourishing and expanding in the present, and which will bear fruit to await eternal happiness in the future (eschatological). Thus, the seven new titles of Saint Mary can reveal the faith of the Church to live at all times.

Trine Iversen & Lotte Holm: Meals and the Making of Family - and Individualisation In this article we discuss the role of meals in family life. In the sociological literature on food and eating the issue of meals is integrated in discussions of family life, social communities and socialisation of children and adolescents. In this empirically based article we focus on a group of Danish adults’ considerations about meals. On this basis we wish somewhat to modify the assumption which is implicit in the literature, as well as in public debate; namely, that the daily family meal is the foundation for integration of the individual household members into a group, i.e. that it is the basis for the making of the family. Our material shows that the family meal is indeed an ideal that adults strive to realise. However, adults 251 are ambigious in this endeavour, as they are very considerate about adolescents’ social activities outside the home. In faet we find that adults contribute to the process of individualisation which occurs during the teenage period, by accomodating mealtimes or accepting non-attendance at meals. The project of making the family appears to be an adult project, to which the adolescents are not expected to contribute. Rather, adults acknowledge the need and desire of adolescents to liberale themselves from the household unit.
