The “Collectome” is an interface for curating, sharing, and scheduling collections of related Web content for display on ultra-resolution display walls. These collections can be used to support a broad range of applications, including teaching, information dissemination, and creative activities. The Collectome was developed as part of the Immersive Scholars program through the NCSU Libraries and the Mellon Foundation. We will demonstrate applications of the Collectome across a variety of academic domains and will share information on how Liberact attendees can easily leverage it on large-scale, public displays at their own institutions.

Abstract Microblogging platforms such as Twitter have been increasingly used nowadays to share information between users. They are also convenient means for propagating content related to history. Hence, from the research viewpoint they can offer opportunities to analyze the way in which users refer to the past, and how as well when such references appear and what purposes they serve. Such study could allow to quantify the interest degree and the mechanisms behind content dissemination. We report the results of a large scale exploratory analysis of history-oriented posts in microblogs based on a 28-month-long snapshot of Twitter data. The results can increase our understanding of the characteristics of history-focused content sharing in Twitter. They can also be used for guiding the design of content recommendation systems as well as time-aware search applications.

This study proposes a dynamic web-based information system using a content management system (CMS) osCommerce with PHP programming language and MySQL database. Utilization of a dynamic web Content Management System has advantages of easy and friendly in content management. Realtime information dissemination network using the Internet will bring up a quick response from the customer as the target market so that the main goal of entrepreneurial activity is achieved. With the implementation of web commerce information system is expected to be a solution for students as a means of self-employment training that has relevance to the subject so that students will have confidence in the start up of entrepreneurial activity as an effort to create their own jobs for students.

Transferring very high quality digital objects over the optical network is critical in many scientific applications, including video streaming/conferencing, remote rendering on tiled display walls, 3D virtual reality, and so on. Current data transfer protocols rely on the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) as well as a variety of compression techniques. However, none of the protocols scale well to the parallel model of transferring large scale graphical data. The existing parallel streaming protocols have limited synchronization mechanisms to synchronize the streams efficiently, and therefore, are prone to slowdowns caused by significant packet loss of just one stream. In this chapter, the authors propose a new parallel streaming protocol that can stream synchronized multiple flows of media content over optical networks through Cross-Stream packet coding, which not only can tolerate random UDP packet losses but can also aim to tolerate unevenly distributed packet loss patterns across multiple streams to achieve a synchronized throughput with reasonable coding overhead. They have simulated the approach, and the results show that the approach can generate steady throughput with fluctuating data streams of different data loss patterns and can transfer data in parallel at a higher speed than multiple independent UDP streams.

The increasing usage of e-commerce website has led to the emergence of Recommender System (RS) with the aim of personalizing the web content for each user. One of the successful techniques of RSs is Collaborative Filtering (CF) which makes recommendations for users based on what other like-mind users had preferred. However, as the world enter Big Data era, CF has faced some challenges such as: scalability, sparsity and cold start. Thus, new approaches that overcome the existing problems have been studied such as Singular Value Decomposition (SVD). This chapter surveys the literature of RSs, reviews the current state of RSs with the main concerns surrounding them due to Big Data, investigates thoroughly SVD and provides an implementation to it using Apache Hadoop and Spark. This is intended to validate the applicability of, existing contributions to the field of, SVD-based RSs as well as validated the effectiveness of Hadoop and spark in developing large-scale systems. The results proved the scalability of SVD-based RS and its applicability to Big Data.

ABSTRACT Balai Penelitian Agroklimat dan Hidrologi or Balitklimat is a government agency that results in an appropriate technology for use and information of the climate and water. Balitklimat as a accounting information provider, as well as the development of technology and service delivery. On the site of Balitklimat this the divine party had to share information the information of their research into the divine research institute of Agroklimat and hydrology or Balitklimat. The Website is credited with an administrator. The establishment of the Balitklimat as the information system was able to manage the data of divine Profile, news, publications, human resources, downloads, and climate. On the system there is one of the administrators who acted as a website manager, and there are the ministry of services in which at an administrative service may conduct a print data service on the divine services, the interintern, form the demand for data, form the public image, and form public satisfaction. The Website Balitklimat 's administrative section has been successful and can be used. The site of Balitklimat product is using Scrum method. The Scrum method is used because of the creation of the party 's web activity is active as a client. This method is also suitable for use for small teams, a large scale and web-based scale, which is relatively fast and learning in time.
