Purpose: Poor athlete buy-in and adherence to training-monitoring systems (TMS) can be problematic in elite sport. This is a significant issue, as failure to record, interpret, and respond appropriately to negative changes in athlete well-being and training status may result in undesirable consequences such as maladaptation and/or underperformance. This study examined the perceptions of elite athletes to their TMS and their primary reasons for noncompletion. Methods: Nine national-team sprint athletes participated in semistructured interviews on their perceptions of their TMS. Interview data were analyzed qualitatively, based on grounded theory, and TMS adherence information was collected. Results: Thematic analysis showed that athletes reported their main reason for poor buy-in to TMS was a lack of feedback on their monitoring data from key staff. Furthermore, training modifications made in response to meaningful changes in monitoring data were sometimes perceived to be disproportionate, resulting in dishonest reporting practices. Conclusions: Perceptions of opaque or unfair decision making on training-program modifications and insufficient feedback were the primary causes for poor athlete TMS adherence. Supporting TMS implementation with a behavioral-change model that targets problem areas could improve buy-in and enable limited resources to be appropriately directed.

The aim of this research was to determine the effectiveness of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in the management of TVET programme in the 21st century. The preferred method of inquiry was the survey research design. A total population of 44 lecturers from the Department of Vocational and Technical Education, University of Benin and Ambrose Alli University was used for the research. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire, validated by two experts. The Cronbach alpha formula was used to determine the instrument reliability; which yielded the coefficient value of 0.87. 20 questionnaire items was administered to the respondents by the researchers. The mean, standard deviation and t-test statistical tools were used for the data analysis. The results of the research showed that PPP to a high extent can influence the optimization of financial resources, provision of qualified manpower, development of curricula and procurement of modern facilities. There was also no significant difference between the mean ratings of TVET lecturers in UNIBEN and AAU regarding the influence of PPP on the effective management of TVET programme in the 21st century. This indicates that TVET lecturers in both institutions have the same perception regarding the influence of PPP on the management of TVET programme. Based on these findings, 4 recommendations were made in the research. Keywords: inadequate resources, management, Public Private Partnership, TVET programme.

Short, medium and long term changes made in hospitals for delivery of care, teaching and training, and research during the crisis arising from the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic are analyzed. The transformation has implications both for patients with covid19 and for patients free of the disease but who require urgent, semi-urgent or scheduled care for medium or high complexity conditions.

COVID-19 spreads through contact, minute droplets and aerosol from infected person which may be symptomatic or asymptomatic. Nose and throat had very high load of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-2) virus. Otorhinolaryngologists by virtue of their work which requires close examination of these part are at very high risk of infection. Many studies are available for precautions to be taken in patient management related to COVID-19 in wards and surgical intervention in operation theaters but very little information is available regarding precautions in working in outpatient clinic setting. Our article highlights some changes we made in ear, nose and throat (ENT) outpatient clinics after going through various guidelines to make it safe in current scenario. These changes may inspire others to move toward safer work practices in their outpatient area to provide ENT consultations. The main changes were categorized into infrastructural changes, identification of frugal but effective personal protective equipment (PPE) for ENT, training for use of different level of PPE as per risk, new modus operandi, and new infection prevention measures. These changes had taken into account safety guidelines by Ministry of health and family welfare (MOHFW) government of India and various international associations specific to specialty. The modification and its advantages were presented.

This article describes the context of ethical decision making in research and suggests that direct attention to the ways in which decisions are actually made in such environments is needed. A decision-making model based on the literature on heuristic processing is proposed and is followed by a review of the method, data, and results of the authors’ research on this model. The implications of the research are developed, and a research agenda is outlined. Key findings were that competent actors do indeed process ethics problems heuristically and in ways that interweave intuitive, affective, and more rational phases. This processing does not typically follow a simple progressive pattern but evidences a sort of trial-and-error processing that is consistent with the logic of heuristic processing more generally. Finally, while diverse, participant-level processing attempts appear to follow patterns which are associated with the experience and training of the actors.

The latest population statistics show the Hispanic population in the US to be fast-growing, young and very diverse in nature. While the Hispanic group lags behind the general population in average education and employment rates, many gains have been made in the past decade. The growing numbers and attainments of Hispanics will mean an increased demand for better education, employment and training programs, housing and family services.
